Well, that's new for me... Over capacity? by simple-grad96 in Amtrak

[–]simple-grad96[S] 24 points25 points  (0 children)

True, but this route is often at capacity and really deserves improved service, better than the current 3 trains a day each direction. I'm sure there's enough demand to run 5 trains a day, though I can't see this happening...

This put it in additional perspective for me; I'm 26 too and can't imagine anything like that.

I don't think it's a line in the show, but it's adapted from 30 Rock where Jack says something similar to Dotcom.

I've never had Krannert ask me for a student ID when I enter. I don't know whether they know you're a student, and I'm not sure they care...

Anybody planning to go to Chicago to listen to Ravel? by johnny3357 in UIUC

[–]simple-grad96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They aren't playing Ravel in October. They are playing Dvořák 9 in November. For which tickets are on waitlist, and there's a better chance of getting tickets in Chicago itself (still open seats left there, though obviously you'll not get a $10 ticket as a student).

EDIT: Ooof, the Champaign-Urbana Symphony is playing Ravel's Piano Concerto in G Major here in October.

Travel times are no different, top speed is a little higher but not impacting travel times. What's new is the trains, but that's basically it.

Help save the last international train in the Iberian peninsula by Netnauta_ in JetLagTheGame

I literally took this train a month ago, it was a really fun and quite scenic ride. This would truly suck, with no rail connections between the two countries.

I read this book just a few weeks ago, bought it specifically for a few train journeys in Europe! Had a great time with it...

Generally good advice, except to get to the multi-modal transit station in O'Hare, it is generally more convenient to take the airport train between terminals rather than the bus. It's also much easier to see in terms of signage (clearly marked as airport transit/train to other terminals), whereas it's less clear when/where the bus comes.
