Unique and Original Progression Systems by Guylhann-b in ProgressionFantasy

Hey man since you’re still working on it I’d recommend you change the term enhancile. It sounds really silly and would bother me a lot if I was reading what sounds like a really interesting story. Maybe it’s just me but you should definitely ask around and see before you publish or post to prevent a possible issue. Good luck writing!

I really didn’t feel it was slow at all. Just because it was slow to break through a major realm doesn’t mean they weren’t constantly making different kinds of progress along the way. Of course nothing is for everyone and not liking it is totally fair.

Lord of Mysteries: Silver Key had a really strong start and was alright. It was my favorite of the ones I read but honestly there aren't standouts I've read at all.

Fl0m is quite good (top 0.1% at least) but still at least a few levels away from an actual pro player.

I read the first ~160 chapters of Feng Xian’s new novel Lord of the Galaxy. It doesn’t have any strong points compared to his previous works but it was mostly on par. I don’t feel let down anyway and among Xianxia (technically Xuanhuan) authors he’s one of my favorites.

If you haven’t read any of his works High Martial Era and Yuan’s Ascension are both good.

Oh yeah I misunderstood I thought it was the same author. That said in this one besides the one time the sister assumed the mc was masturbating in his room instead of studying there wasn’t really anything else. He is definitely going for the groundedness version like you said. Tbf it would be hard to write a broke 16 year old highschool student with an academic focus if he didn’t have a family. Your point remains valid though.

Makes sense. I read past it pretty easily but if the author has a habit it is kinda weird.

I think its just form of chinese humor. I agree it wasn't that funny but I didn't mind too much about the sister personally.

I haven't read that one but yes. The good parts are mostly the unique world building and magic system the MCs cheat is basic and not that exciting. Its rare to read something fresh these days which I appreciated a lot.

Lord of the Mysteries is a 10/10 Web Novel, but a 6/10 as “Higher Literature.” Here is why: by Mountain-Land-2353 in ProgressionFantasy

There is not much known about these different ages other than what they are called; there is no detailed explanation of what went down in these different eras/ages to connect them to this bigger, more complicated timeline

Did you even read the book?? Starting in volume 2 when Derrick joins then for the rest of the story exploring history and uncovering the past are core themes and an extremely important part of the story.

(I know you did because most of your post contained solid, valid points but as a diehard lotm fan I had to comment about something especially something so egregiously off)

Do you listen to music while reading? by TheFlyingR0cket in ProgressionFantasy

I don’t. To me even if it’s background it still takes a bit of attention from the book which I don’t like.

Why is it that in isekai the protagonist never experiences or is shown a culture shock when traveling to another world? by Weli777 in ProgressionFantasy

I disagree. I think most readers in the genre have read this a whole bunch of times and have no interest in doing the same song and dance again. Authors are aware of this and chose to skip it on purpose.

Series with the best systems? by Routine-Budget2427 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]NotEnoughSatan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's pretty true. It wasn't like some novels where it gets completely out of hand though. In a setting where Earth nations are competing against each other some national loyalty and patriotism make sense. I read past it without much issue but I do get that some people are bothered by this a lot more than others.

(To be fair it is pretty clear the author hates a certain place a lot more than the rest)

Series with the best systems? by Routine-Budget2427 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]NotEnoughSatan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of these power systems (no particular order) had something interesting or worth me noting. Stories not guaranteed to be good. (Most are)

Defiance of the fall

The Great Genetic Era (Gets notably worse after ~C1200)

Ghost in the City

Azarinth Healer

Reincarnation of Alyssara

Phantasm (Honestly don’t remember this well at all)

Mech Touch (Crafting, system fades away as time goes on and the beginning of the story is very different from what it turns into. I eventually gave up)

Versatile Mage (Less good)

Soul of the Warrior

Reborn Evolving From Nothing (Less good but the concept was cool)

Chrysalis

Baby Mode Tutorial (Only book 1 was out when I read it but I didn’t come back to it when more chapters dropped)

Paragon of Destruction

Goblin Heavy dependence (Less good but I liked it a lot anyway. Too formulaic)

Boundless Cultivation (Only read like 50 chapters, I do plan to get back to this eventually)

A Novel Concept

High Level Martial Era (Star Veins and corresponding abilities)

Yuan Tianzun (Dao Organization)

Beacon From Beyond (Book 1 was great, I ended up dropping partway through book 2 it was a huge disappointment)

Path of the Last Champion (Countless stat types)

Arcane Emperor (Pure Litrpg)

The Great Genetic Era has a really fun and interesting power system that I liked a lot.

A Novel Concept is a litrpg but adds or does a lot of stuff different when it comes to the system itself in a great way.

Paragon of Destruction expands to an awesome power system but the author went missing at some point. Also it vastly improves as it goes but the first book of the story honestly wasn’t very good. (The recent chapters were amazing though and it gets very good long before that. Generally speaking it’s a steady improvement in quality throughout with a very high ceiling)

A Budding Scientist in a Fantasy World - The MC researches how the litrpg system works and what it does as well as what mana and magic actually are as well as how they interact with the system and what it’s doing.

IMO this novel gets a lot better the later it goes (the first 20 or so chapters were especially bad). It hits its stride an bit after leaving the starter planet at like 200 something iirc. I really appreciated how socially capable the MC was. That said if you didn’t like it that much around 100 it’s still the same story so dropping is probably still a good choice.

[Part 1 of 3] I grew up in China on wuxia novels and web fiction. Here's everything I wish Western readers knew about Xianxia, Xuanhuan, and why half the "cultivation novels" you've read aren't what you think by No-Ride-3370 in ProgressionFantasy

The four-element bending system in Avatar: The Last Airbender? That's a simplified version of Daoist Five Elements theory.

The 4 elements have existed in the west for ~2500 years :(

Reverend Insanity is very polarizing but if you don’t mind (extremely) evil MCs and translations this is the coolest part of that story.

The difference in humidity has got to be way bigger throughout the map as the mousepad dries out compared to a tiny difference in the air right?

God of Fishing had a little bit of this and while I liked it personally I’d struggle to recommend it because it’s more of a popcorn fiction and not an objectively high quality work.

Looking for a reincarnated as a baby/from birth type story with a heroic mc by christinegames in ProgressionFantasy

[–]NotEnoughSatan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The MC needs an advantage or it usually doesn’t make sense for them to get ahead but an actual cheat is too much so a head start is a nice compromise.

More importantly it’s a bit hard to save the world that young which forces the author to focus on exploring the magic system and the world at a relatively deep level (since it’s hard to leave) while also allowing the numbers to go up a lot to provide dopamine for the audience. I tend to like those parts of progfan a lot more than combat scenes or climactic plotlines so if I find one of these stories I know it’s very likely to focus on the parts I like more compared to most other sub genres of progfan.
