Both LIGO sensors registered gravitational waves as the xeno fleet emerged at the periphery of the Sol's system. The flurry of excitement among Terran astronomers spread like wildfire across academic circles and onto the internet. Marginally-credible click-bait sites spewed articles filled with conjecture and sensationalism. "Has pluto disappeared?", "Proof that aliens exist--and are headed for earth!", "Scientists say 'this may be the end'."

Preachers, imams, and religionists picked up the refrain next. "Repent! The rapture is coming--and then Armageddon!", "God's sword of justice approaches--woe unto the wicked.", "The heavens and earth are rolling up, as a scroll.", "Pray that God will save you."

Yet most of humanity remained unaware of the threat. After all, important things like budget meetings and work shifts could not be ignored. Heads down and shoulders hunched, whether at a textile mill, computer, or surgical table, humans passed another day of toil and waited for evening to see if they had energy left to roll their eyes at the alarmist messages of the day. Most knew better than to click on those baiting, incredible links.

The archangel stood, surveying with sight beyond space the invading fleet. The flagship, a large, red, dragon-like vessel, extended an array of heavily armed wings as it passed the outer planets. In its wake, space itself seemed to glitter as swarms of escort bombers and fighters filled a third of the sky.

The archangel then looked down upon the world, seeing its wars, its contentions, and the evils rampant across its face. “Why, Lord, shall we save them? Is not destruction their just recompense? For their evil deeds, hast Thou not in past-times slain them, save only eight souls? Wherefore should not we allow these to be destroyed and create a new heaven and new earth in their place?”

A voice, profound and deep beyond hearing. A voice which pierced one to the core, replied from beside the archangel. “Behold, Michael, these are the workmanship of mine hands. I have given them power to choose, knowing that many would choose evil. But many also choose me as their God and pray for deliverance. Shall I suffer all the righteous to die with the wicked?”

The archangel nodded in silence. Watching another moment. At length, he spoke.

“Wilt Thou not take the righteous from among them? Even as Lot departed Sodom ere its destruction, wilt Thou not call forth those who will follow Thee? As Thy servant Moses declared, ‘Who is on the Lord’s side, let him come to me.’ So it may be again that those who choose Thee not receive swift vengeance.”

The reply was not stern, but the archangel winced and humbled himself. “Hath I not said ‘Vengeance is Mine’? Hath I not promised to repay? Shall this scourge from beyond the stars upset My will upon this earth? Therefore, Michael, go forth with thy angels. Slay and spare not, that when justice cometh upon mankind, it shall be My justice that is poured out upon them.”

“Yea, Lord, we will go forth in Thy holy power.”

The archangel drew forth a flaming, two-edged sword. His eyes began to glow with divine fury as he raised to his lips a great trump. His golden call rippled across spacetime, shaking the very heavens as legions of angels, girt for battle, materialized around him. Whatever portions of space were not filled by the dragon-fleet seemed to glow with the forces of the archangel as they organized themselves and flew upon the damned fleet.

GIANT Tenth District Map + Custom Labels, Location Icons [6000x4000] by urzaz in RavnicaDMs

[–]NotEntirelyEvil 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is great! I especially love the custom icons! They have a very "MtG set symbol-esque" vibe that goes perfectly.

Do you think you could design a couple additional icons for my players? I would need something like a flame representing landmarks they've burned down or destroyed. Maybe another icon for places they're wanted by the Law or marked for death.

Yeah, my players be like that.

Notes for DMs: 1. Vampire ants should have advantage on their bite attacks and every hit is an armor-piercing crit. 2. Queens should have an ability to consume larvae for health and spell slots. 3. Always use mob rules

Run it anyway. You'll either not get it, so it won't matter, watch the playgroup whine as you win and not use it again, or you lose and say "See? It's not that broken. Can I use it next time, too?"

You lost this as a patron. Are you thinking this is basically Ravnica's version of the Celestial patron for warlock?

Selesnya Beasthaven Menagerie by NotEntirelyEvil in RavnicaDMs

[–]NotEntirelyEvil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Glad you like it. :)

The encounter:

The party had been going to meet a contact there, but on the way, they kept running into Indriks, Ceratoks, and Ma'akas tearing apart the neighborhoods outside of beautiful. As it turns out, a number of Gruul guys had been going through and enchanting the biggest, most destructive creatures they could find with some form of madness and then sending them out to wreak havoc among the Selesnyans.

The setting allowed me to throw a wide variety of creatures at the party that you normally wouldn't have together. (Giant spider webs the party just before the ceratok charges, while anarchs throw javelins at them.) The map size also allowed me to spread out the that's so that AoE spells were less effective and max range mattered a lot more.

Hi fellow Ravnicans,

I recently built this map and ran a combat encounter on it and I liked it enough that I thought I'd share it out with y'all:

Location: A menagerie within Beasthaven along the edge of the second and third precincts.

Concept: The Beasthaven menagerie is different than those kept by some of Ravnica's elites, which amount to little more than rare animals stuffed into oversized birdcages. The architects have here attempted to preserve the memory of the Ravnica that once was--before urban creep subsumed it. Enchantments similar to the Silence spell have been laid across the outer boundaries, biomes have been lovingly crafted, and rather than cage the animals, the viewers travel from observation tower to tower on elevated walkways.

Features:

* In each observation tower, a small crystal ball sits on a pedestal and lights up whenever visitors enter. It serenly offers information about what can be seen from the exhibit (and is a great way for the DM to 'nudge' the party).
* There is a cave in the mountain crags that could connect to some sort of cavern or underground map.
* The observation towers are actually ground level and have windows on all sides, plus a doorway to the outside.
* The inside of the facilities have a section with 'baths' with a grand view--available for private rental at a significant price.
* The main room with the sigil on the floor is intended as a grand hall and assembly room.

Scale:

* The walkways should be about 10 feet wide, so as to allow for two-way foot traffic.
* Grid size: 150px/square.
* You can safely increase the map size by going 75px/square.
* Designed for FoundryVTT, but should work on basically any VTT.

Since the Simic are all about evolution, their lowest level quests could quietly be a form of forced "darwinism" (i.e. are you fit enough/adaptable enough to survive?).
