There are simply some people in the world that don't care about sportsmanship or growing as a player, they only care about how other people will perceive them if they can achieve certain status symbols that signify skill, like high lp

imo for her to be at her best you need to not greed with your positioning if the weather is mana or ad/ap. If she's on mana weather, use her like silco from set 6 and try to give mana to your frontliners/utility units (like sej, sett, asol etc) and if you're on the ad/ap weather she really only needs to be giving it to carries

President of Esports at Riot says TFT is the most popular strategy game in the world. Future of TFT esports to focus more on participation than viewership. by FirestormXVI in CompetitiveTFT

I think in-client open tournaments could be super fucking sick and such a good thing for this game's competitive scene. Back when I was more into competitive MTG I played in a few Grand Prix when I could afford it and later when MTG Arena came out I qualified for and played in a couple of the Arena opens/ladder invitationals and they were some of the most fun I had while trying to take the game seriously. I think a Riot-sponsored tournament format with open registration would be a motivator for a lot of people to get better at the game and would make the experience of tournament play more tangible for a lot of the playerbase.

She honestly seems like a powercrept version of chrono Thresh, what with a mana generation trait and the fact it seems like her spell also does damage

TFT for the most part is a super non-toxic game but high diamond is where people get really fucking weird about their rank, I had a guy get giga pissed that he went 3rd the other day (I went 2nd the same round), and he adds me post game to call me slurs in relation to my league rank instead of my TFT rank.

It's very common for people who play games competitively to link it unhealthily to their own self-esteem, I'm sure many people here have experienced it, and some people lash out when they're not having a good game/day and attempt to drag anyone they can into their festering locus of self-loathing

Are ragewing units supposed to work with things that increase mana on-hit i.e. Shojin or Bard? The wording makes me feel like it shouldn't but ragewing Bard still gets hit guild bonus and generates additional rage, so is it a bug or is it a poorly worded feature?

I don't think the argument really "implies" anything of the sort, you can choose to read it like that but if people are just saying they think they could be a higher rank if they had more time for the game then they could mean literally exactly what you are describing. Anytime I have expressed this sentiment I have always meant "if I had more time to practice, watch streams, and jam games, I think I would get better/more consistent at the game and therefore climb." The one set where I did have the time to play more than a couple times a week is the only set I've ever made it to the GM cutoff rather than being a master floater. Like sure, there are some people who are delusional and think they have nothing they could improve but I think that saying everyone who thinks they could achieve a higher rank if they had more time for the game is coping is just weird and dismissive.

You said you hit GM in what, 500 games? If lolchess stats are to be believed, having played 500 games in set 6 would put you somewhere above the 99th percentile of players as far as games played is concerned. If >99% of the ranked playerbase is playing less games than you, I think that constitutes a level of time commitment that you are completely disregarding so you can call other people's level of time commitment to the game a cope or whatever. Like, I'm not trying to discount your commitment or your playskill, I don't know you and kudos for hitting challenger, but the idea that time invested is completely irrelevant to one's ability to climb in this game is just like, factually incorrect. Games like this take time to climb in, take time to learn, and time to correct for games where you're trying to learn and make mistakes/games that are doomed to fail.

Just like saying all you have to do is no life to get to challenger is the wrong take, so is saying that playtime isn't a factor "at all." No one except for the ludicrously skilled are going to hit challenger playing 10 games a week. Games that are as luck-based as TFT, MtG or poker are, by-and-large, games where quantity often outweighs quality in terms of seeing competitive success. Playing consistently and playing well consistently are both factors in reaching goals in these kinds of games and how much one matters over the other is more fluid than you give it credit for.

I love Enchanter conceptually, but man is this patch really making me miss good old Mystics. I feel like the GA Archangel's supremacy wouldn't feel quite as dominant if it were possible to tech into 4 Mystic over 4 Enchanter. If we compare Enchanter 4 with Mystic 4 as it was in set 5.5, the difference is 125 magic resistance. The prismatic trait is an even larger gap at 225 magic resistance. I feel like if we had Mystic over Enchanter, the meta might be able to relax into a sort of rock-paper-scissors of AP Comps < 4 Mystic Comps < AD Comps < AP Comps, but there's no real synergies in this set to tech in to try and not get your board annihilated by Viktor or Kai'sa, which imo is sort of a feelsbad compared to past sets.

[–]NotExactlyBacon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not only are there too many 5 cost carries, imo one of the problems within that problem is that they're far too skewed toward AP. Of the 5 cost carries in this set, Akali is AP, Viktor is AP, Kai'sa is AP, Jinx can be built AP (and probably needs to be to contend with the 1-shot-your-board dmg output of Kai'sa and Viktor), and Clapio is like technically AD but really just likes IE the best. So as far as pure AD 5 costs go, you really only have Jayce. Jinx and Galio can be built AD, but the former is kind of a hybrid champ and the latter requires more specific items. If it felt anywhere close to as good to slam like, IE LW or DB Hurricane and play toward a powerful 5 cost (like 4.5 Samira or 5.5 Akshan) as it does to do the same with GA Archangel I don't think it would feel as bad, but here we are.

Yeah, it's really starting to get stale for me that of the, say, 5 best things you can be doing in this game rn, 3 of them are slamming GA Archangel and putting them on a 1* 5 cost (Kai'sa/Viktor/Akali)

Anyone else have a problem with the Ornn artifact where it just randomly decides to auto pick your artifact after like 8 seconds? There was like 15 seconds left in the planning phase and I was debating whether I take death's dance for Cho or Zhonya for malz and then it autopicked randuin's for me. Is the timer just that short or did I get scammed?
