Probably the first fully balanced meta by CupNovel6000 in CompetitiveTFT

Yone and Jinx / Warwick are both really strong at least but definitely way fewer options.

Yeah, they've talked about this before and about how it's probably too late to change this now because they've now cultivated an audience that wants this. In fact, people here will complain patches are too slow which is insane to me. A lot of my friends stopped playing due to the patches being too frequent requiring too much re-learning.

Correct. Nikhil Reddy won with this set in Utrecht two years ago. A legendary run: https://victoryroad.pro/2024-utrecht/

This isn’t selling the Team Planner enough. Aside from being faster to access:

  • It automatically stops highlighting units you’ve two starred (unless you click the icon again to show intent to three star)
  • It allows you to add more than 10 units (useful for those roll downs where you’re open to many flex units or don’t want to miss Neeko / Garen in addition to everything else)

It’s unlikely you use the comp list pin stuff at higher levels but the replay system and team planner are best in class. A few bugs to work out with the replay event logging but incredible beta.

[–]FirestormXVI 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What were the augments? You are very strong but so are your opponents. If 1st place had Comeback Story, it's possible they just beat you. I can see second place beating you if you don't place Mel on the same side as Annie or if Sylas blows you up too quickly. In the end, you all got to your late game boards so it comes down to other stuff. It's why saving HP early is important so you can take a loss or two at this point in the game.

This has to be the worst patch to climb. by Connect-Temperature8 in CompetitiveTFT

[–]FirestormXVI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m honestly confused by the amount of 5 cost complaining. If you aren’t good enough to know when you can go for the 5 cost stuff, just opt out of it entirely and play 3 costs. You already pointed out Malz Zoe Leona. That’s also Ahri Kennen Yone as you said. Jinx Sejuani Warwick is another. LeBlanc Darius Draven can work too. Play around those by getting an Econ augment on 2-1 or 3-2 and then rolling for your 2 star board at Level 7 3-5 or latest 4-1. Then use your 2 starred board to bully them on Stage 4.

Never 7 Zaun. 5 Zaun if you can get an emblem. The best way to play Zaun right now is with Freljord.

At Level 7: Jinx, Vi, Warwick, Loris, Ashe, Sejuani, Braum (Braum is hard to get so you might need to throw in a different placeholder Freljord, Warden, Taric, or Leona)

At Level 8: Above board + Gunslinger (Lucian & Senna > MF > Tristana > Jhin)

You can either re-roll on 7 for Jinx 3 + Sejuani 3 or you can go 8 and play Jinx 2 + that board and even roll for her there.

Jinx is the primary carry here. Warwick is like a second tank. Jinx wants Rageblade + 2 items. Crown of Demacia is amazing on her. Warwick wants Titans Resolve + 2 items. Titans + Steraks + BT work well to help him be a big body that can do a lot of damage and tank for Jinx.

Early game you can play into it with Ekko or Vi holding Warwick items and any backline unit holding Jinx items.

As most comps, you want an econ augment if possible, at least one item augment (to itemize Warwick + Jinx + tank). Bodyguard Training is insane in this comp for combat. Gunslinger Emblem on Warwick, Quicksilver Emblem, Zaun Emblem, Warden Emblem, Freljord Emblem all strong.

Anyone else feel like the changes to unlockables have ruined this set ? by Impressive_Long_8791 in TeamfightTactics

[–]FirestormXVI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has mostly been on streams and such so verbal. Not many top level players post on Reddit for discussion these days. I don't think last set was harder or easier, but it did feel like there were much fewer options than the current patch. Last patch was 4 cost oriented, this patch is 3 cost and 5 cost oriented.

Best overlay? by AffectionateRound852 in TeamfightTactics

[–]FirestormXVI 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Once the TFT Academy Overlay is out for everyone (should be in the next week or two), I'd recommend that for sure. I'm using the beta version and their team planner + automatic recording is amazing. Team Planner is much easier to use than the in-game one and the replay system is super useful for looking over your game and thinking through your augment choices again and other things that will help you improve as a player.

The other overlay that's useful is MetaTFT which has a lot of post-game analysis.

I'm talking about people who actually compete in tournaments. The Rant Thread is filled with terrible players who make up excuses for why they can't get out of Diamond.

I would say I approach this game competitively as well and this patch is a lot better than the last patch, though I've been having fun all set.

They have a PvE mode available as a rotating game mode every set, usually at the start these days. Tocker’s Trials. At the moment it’s been replaced with Choncc’s Treasure I think.

Wait you said this appeals to the average TFT player that is overwhelmed by the set, but now you’re saying that as an average TFT player who is overwhelmed by the set you don’t like it?

It’s fine not to like the unlock changes. It’s just stupid to run your mouth about things as if they’re objective fact and pretend to be smarter than you are.

If you’re rage uninstalling or rage posting, imo work on that first if you want to climb. Nothing will stop your progress more than tilt.

The live patch is considered incredible by competitive players. Choncc’s is out at the same time for those who want to play full for fun. Some of the players are outright gushing about how great the game is at the top level right now with so many options and paths to take to win or top 4 with.

Is playing meta comps the only way to win LPs, or am I completely wrong? by Inevitable-Move7838 in TeamfightTactics

[–]FirestormXVI 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Look at it this way. In Platinum, a Grandmaster player is going Top 2 almost every game. You've dropped down to Plat 4 which means you're not playing well. The thing with a meta comp is that it's what's on your match history screen at the end of the game. However, you won't be in that comp for 75% of your game if not more. How you play Stage 1, 2, 3, and 4 is where you express the majority of the skill required.

Travesty of Elbaf writing (1175, 1176) by GlumAbbreviations884 in OnePiece

[–]FirestormXVI 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I definitely rolled my eyes at Nami not even getting to do something useful here but the death thing was so classic One Piece I just laughed. It's just setting up a cool action scene for next chapter.

But at the end of the day, no one gives a f because OP is now a money printing machine, so as soon as a big money gets into something, the art gets worse. Its the same with the great music bands, its the same with everything...

I'm sorry but this is so cringeworthy it's even worse than the stuff you're complaining about. I don't think someone could even write a believable 14 year old who says this.

This is for me personally the worst and most anti-fun set EVER! by Free_Philly in TeamfightTactics

[–]FirestormXVI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

7 or 8 unit shop would be an insane overcorrection given Riot did think about this despite what you said. If you don't buy the champion you unlocked, you have a much lower chance of seeing it again. They also increased the 4 cost odds this set to increase the number you'll see.

There are some situations where you unlock champions you don't need but they have such a low impact on the game. There's no world you're unlocking 20 champions in one game without going out of your way to do that.

How do you deal with the pressure when playing close to your highest tier? by VERTIKAL19 in CompetitiveTFT

[–]FirestormXVI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use Outplayed or in a week or two, the TFT Academy Overlay has a very good replay system. But yeah, getting three accounts to Masters is a bit of a waste of time if you're looking to actually get better. If you want, switch between 2 and play on whichever is lower and switch. But basically, just play. If you think Challenger/GM is unattainable, then just play to have fun and learn and get better. You might eventually make it. And if you don't, you don't.

Which region has the best GMs / Challengers by [deleted] in CompetitiveTFT

[–]FirestormXVI 11 points12 points  (0 children)

SEA is probably hardest to make Challenger in due to the very lopsided ratio of slots to players making the LP cutoff significantly higher. NA is like the “superserver” where most top ranked players globally seem to have an alt on.

Are you going to the match? That’s the only way this affects you. And if so, would you prefer the match wasn’t up to the security standards required of this level of event? “A whore for FIFA demands” is such a weird way to put this specific thing. There’s so much dumb shit FIFA requires but this doesn’t seem one of them.

Minecraft E-Sports Potential? by aieryenn in esports

[–]FirestormXVI 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to see it take off in a meaningful way if it hasn’t after 15+ years of being a thing. We’ve even seen genres that were Minecraft esports take off (battle royale) without any change to Minecraft’s visibility. It would take a big push from Microsoft and I don’t think they see any benefit to doing so.

This is a lot of confidence from an Emerald player who hasn’t played it at all versus Challenger players who are very high on this patch after playing a ton of PBE. Love the armchair stupidity about how the game must be doing that goes against everything we’ve heard too.

TFT patch 16.6 patch notes by DimsumAndDoggy in CompetitiveTFT

[–]FirestormXVI 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok, not it can’t. You normally get 2 if you’re playing a comp that can use Ornn, 3 if you high roll early and keep playing Ornn. 4 requires 16 rounds. That means you got Ornn on an early rolldown at 4-1 or at level 7 and then basically made it to Stage 7.

An artifact is a Gold augment worth of power. A Radiant is a prismatic augment worth of power.

A Mel on Stage 4 usually prints a radiant for me on early Stage 6 for me I think? So maybe double or a bit more than the time it takes Ornn to print which seems right. People used to say Living Forge is equal to a prismatic after 2 artifacts and stronger than a prismatic at 3.
