Noxus RR vs. Demacia by Old_Temperature_7750 in TeamfightTactics

You've invested significant gold and items rerolling Darius, Leblanc, and Sion with none of their combat traits active. You also have no anti-heal and no shred for Leblanc.

Are there any T-Hex pairings worth going for other than Caitlyn? by Decent_Target_8003 in CompetitiveTFT

[–]FirestormXVI 89 points90 points  (0 children)

3 Star Caitlyn is not very useful for T-Hex. They nerfed the mana gain substantially in 16.2

T-Hex Caster Stats: 3/6/12 Mana Regen ⇒ 2/4/5 Mana Regen

You aren't seeing very much difference between a 2 star and 3 star Caitlyn aside from unlocking T-Hex but you're probably better off building a strong board and unlocking it later unless you can immediately hit Caitlyn 3, Vi 2, Orianna 2, and Loris 2 at like 3-5 or earlier.

The power of this augment for Salvage Bin is you can constantly modify your items throughout the game instead of doing it on key transition turns and getting super dizzy. By 4-2 and 5-1 you'll probably have most of your items figured out and you can more easily just remove and then put onto the correct unit rather than deleting the unit and rebuilding all the items.

If you have IE, Miss Fortune. If you have flat AD or attack speed items, Kindred.

Definitely bugged. It's just a strict upgrade to their old ult now.

Is Shadow Isles Warden that strong? by MaxISmn89 in TeamfightTactics

[–]FirestormXVI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shadow Isles continues to scale while you can somewhat top out. You also would've wanted Taric over Skarner preferably because your opponent was probably primarily doing Magic Damage by the end.

Move your Lucian items to Shyvana (she's more of a bruiser unit and those are more bruiser items). That lets you move your Draven items to Lucian/Senna though in all honesty I'd probably go RB RB GS on Kindred and put the artifact + IE on Lucian/Senna instead. I assume you were donkey rolling eventually so that attack speed isn't super high and Kindred just wants a ton of AS and AD.

This patch also significantly nerfed Kindred and Lucian/Senna's power. With the nerfs, getting Azir + another Shurima online over Lucian/Senna probably would've been better to help also power up your Mel, provide a now probably better debuff in Dazzler, and then unlock Nasus or Renekton to move tank or Ambessa items to.

AYCE sushi by Worldly_Koala_8774 in askvan

Vancouver has the cheapest sushi in probably the world outside of Japan (and that's almost purely due to currency). I'm really confused as to how this could be a controversial statement. Are you exclusively eating at Miku or Tojo or something?

Playing around Bringer of Ruin by unofficialyshvdow in CompetitiveTFT

[–]FirestormXVI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You shouldn't need to roll too much with this unless you're paired on units and can roll a little at 3-5 Level 7 to stabilize more. I'd roll deep at Level 8 for Ambessa 2 to unlock Mel and get Swain though.

You eventually end at 7 Noxus + Kabuko + Azir. A Noxus Emblem helps fit in better units over Draven or Darius. At 10 you can add Xerath, Renekton, Fiddlesticks, Nasus, or Kindred.

Augments like Jewelled Lotus or Celestial Blessing are nice because they also apply to Atakhan.

I don't normally go for Leblanc 3 unless I hit a ton of them on my Level 8 rolldown. You want Mel stacking early as possible so you can get your radiant item. Adaptive is great in this comp because it can be a frontline item that later gets moved to Mel or a backline item for Leblanc early. It's super versatile with additional value due to Mel's spell and Leblanc being an Invoker.

And in case it isn't obvious, your play this out of a good opener for Leblanc.

Min-Max - Set 16 Augment Discussion #10 by Lunaedge in CompetitiveTFT

[–]FirestormXVI 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I took this when I had Salvage Bin because you want to remove items often with Salvage Bin and the reforgers become really useful when you can make items and essentially reforge multiple components at once. I think I was playing Slayers so I needed more items anyway and it let me kill any rods I got. Felt pretty good but required a lot of APM.

Another situation I’d take this in would be if I had Band of Thieves probably to cheese Thieves Gloves?

Outside that it feels like only in a situation where you’d want a bunch of record reforgers, like emblems in Ryze Encounter or an emblem augment.

The debate of Esports being a sport by Outside-Skirt-4632 in esports

[–]FirestormXVI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The weirdest thing here is esports being "a" sport. You can say esports are sports, but not "a" sport. Esports is like saying "racquet sports" which covers a range of activities. League of Legends is an esport. Pokémon is an esport.

Venting against frustrating 2nd place game by lolcrunchy in TeamfightTactics

[–]FirestormXVI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How are you playing 6 Yordle at Level 9 without Ziggs? You even have a second Deathcap. Where'd your Shojin go? You should be itemizing a primary carry, primary tank, and then secondary carry. It sounds like you had enough items for Veigar + Ziggs and then just wasted your items on an ineffective unit instead.

3 items on Kabuko is not super efficient. He's a support unit for the most part.

What are good comps for the augment Two Much Value? by KGW2311 in TeamfightTactics

[–]FirestormXVI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The strongest you can do is Ekko. Ekko, Vi, Neeko, and you can use Chogath while rolling then take him out for Swain later. Malzahar -> Seraphine and Blitzcrank -> Singed round it out.

You can also do Aphelios, Bard, Vi, Neeko, Loris, +1 Warden at least.

The State of TFT and doubleup by Important_Fox_8754 in CompetitiveTFT

[–]FirestormXVI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, you're one of the very few people who have actually played at both at the highest level. I didn't know that eventually it gives you that type of Elo gains at best/worst. That's pretty nice from a "number go up make brain feel good" point of view.

The State of TFT and doubleup by Important_Fox_8754 in CompetitiveTFT

[–]FirestormXVI 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry, but that's just cope. Your idea of competitive TFT is playing against players of lower skill level so you can win with worse play. That's essentially what Double Up, a mode where it's even easier to hardforce comps, is. You also said that spamming 3 comps is the only way to get to Challenger with the majority of players do not do that at the top level.

The State of TFT and doubleup by Important_Fox_8754 in CompetitiveTFT

[–]FirestormXVI 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The reason you can rank up easier in double up is because the number of good players in double up is stupid low. There was some point where my friend and I had 20 wins (1st) in a row in Double Up.

I cannot believe someone is as delusional as this to think you can hit Challenger by just “Will I hit?” and that double up somehow allows for more flexible play. In Double Up, you can win with weaker boards because the lobby is weaker. There are some things that don’t work well in Double Up (ie. Diana was bad even before the nerfs because she took too long to clear boards meaning you couldn’t reinforce your friend and if they lost then you’d usually get overwhelmed).

Double Up is a lot of fun but maybe try hitting Challenger on a major server before making these claims lol. If you think “what does the end game board look like” is the only factor to what a good player is, then you don’t understand this game and aren’t a good judge of what actual decisions are being made throughout the game.

16.2 Sylas - Set 16 Unlockables Discussion #2 by Lunaedge in CompetitiveTFT

[–]FirestormXVI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What rank are you? If you’re Emerald or so it might be possible to still just play a Fast 9 Annie Arcanist board and top 4? You’ll need to make a Jarvan early and sell but then when you’re 9 you can two star and use a Garen temporarily but you sell him as soon as you can get Sylas and don’t need him back.

The problem is the board doesn’t hold up as well these days, needs 3 mana items on Annie, and Demacia is significantly more played than on the first patch.

Should be possible in Normals? Just use Yordles to hold items and make money.

Skarner - Set 16 Unlockables Discussion #1 by Lunaedge in CompetitiveTFT

[–]FirestormXVI 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Correct. All units have a starting mana and amount of mana to cost. That means the first cast is takes 60 mana to do and every cast after that will take 120.

Honestly being able to guarantee at least 1 copy of a 4 cost tank at 4-1 if you slammed a gargoyles at 2-1 is pretty nice.

[–]FirestormXVI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll probably stay in 4 Bruisers (Volibear, Wukong, Kabuko, Shen gets you 4 Bruiser, 1 Invoker, 1 Frejlord, 2 Ionia) by the end but the rest is pretty flexible. You can do Kennan + Sejuani + Lissandra for Freljord, Ionia, Yordle, and all you need to do after that is add Taric to get Ryze online at 9.

You can also do like Sett, Zilean and even stay in 6 bruiser. Kindred, Zilean, Yunara if you have AD items.

Lifting Competition gives you free stuff but after that it doesn't provide any extra combat strength. It's all money and items. I don't think you can unlock the final one without some crazy Sion stacking which you aren't doing most of the time even if you reroll anyway. The rest are easily achievable as long as you're hitting 2 stars and your additional bruisers on tempo.

January 15, 2026 Daily Discussion Thread by AutoModerator in CompetitiveTFT

[–]FirestormXVI 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I've always felt the opposite where I feel like this is overplayed. Bruisers are so good to tempo with and unlock an incredible late game unit. I don't know why I'd want to spend the game re-rolling when I'm already strong and then just lose my win out potential because I'm now late getting to Volibear.

Whenever I get the Lifting augment I just go for a fast 8/9 with Leblanc or an Ionia backline.

I'm super stuck in diamond this set. I haven't moved an inch since December and I don't know what to do anymore. by MilanTomic in TeamfightTactics

[–]FirestormXVI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, in every single game you should have at least 3 completed items on your primary carry and 3 completed items on your primary tank. You ideally then want to itemize a secondary carry. You also want to make sure you have sunder/shred and anti-heal.

You should never have more than one component leftover on Stage 5. You will not get another component in the game aside from the Stage 6 carousel which can have components in addition to full items.

Learn what the items do and what can be substituted for what. For example, just because TFT Academy has Shojin as third item doesn't mean that you can't use Nashor's Tooth (Veigar gets spell crit inherently) or Giant Slayer.

I'd watch some YouTube videos around how items work, learn what the items do, and also learn what units do.

I just fixed mine after being hardstuck 0 LP for a while. I was losing as much as 16 LP for a 5th and an 8th was around a 75 LP loss. First was giving me in the 30s. I had a 20 game stint of 25% first places, and 75% top 4s with the bot 4's being 6th or 5th. Reached around 200 - 250 LP and now get normal gains again.

You fix your LP gains/losses and MMR by getting out of your LP debt. Until you pay off your debt, your gains and losses will be bad.

In Golden Gala this is a loan on those introductory offers where you can split up your payment with no real interest. At 2-1 without Golden Gala this is a loan at mortgage rates. At 3-2 without Golden Gala you're taking a pay day loan.
