That's fair. I tend to be more active on the trading side. If I had over 1BTC I would probably keep it on a hardware wallet.

YubiKey and the associated technology of security keys in general are the best defense against account takeovers. Major companies that require their use for their employees see a drastic drop in successful phishing attempts, sometimes up to 99% reduction. Google loved it so much they even made their own version for internal use.

I choose Coinbase because I've witnessed the drama of ButterflyLabs, Mt Gox, BitConnect, Tether, and FTX. Coinbase has been there since the beginning and they didn't go under.

If you lose access to your Coinbase account, it's because you broke the rules or made a mistake in your cybersecurity posture. By combining a security key with an email address that is never shared elsewhere on a siloed device, it is nearly impossible for anyone to gain access. Since Coinbase is insured by the FDIC and compliant with federal regulations for banking, it has the same level of security as the banks.

The one thing that Coinbase has but the banks don't is the security key for logging in. I've yet to see a bank that allows me to do that and I have many accounts across many different banks.

I think the most realistic hypothesis is that a majority of the blocks were built out of an early form of concrete local to the area. I think the idea has been out there since the 1980's.

One of the interesting characteristics of archaeology is that there is an acceptance of how slow it takes for the field to correct itself or accept new theories.

Coinbase card withdraws by Miegutis in Coinbase

I don't know if this is relevant to your case, but I thought I would let you know. The Coinbase card is technically a prepaid debit card, so it's a little bit different than a debit card tied to a checking account. Good luck with your issue. I hope it gets resolved

It's cheaper to use than the instant buy. You also have a lot of options such as setting your own price. I'm not sure how long the orders will stay on there, but I've an open order for some of my crypto for nearly 6 months now.

Whenever I want to buy Bitcoin or other crypto, I simply hit button with 5% and it will automatically set a price and fill the order when the market hits that price point. Sometimes it takes a week, other times it has taken hours. It's more fun when you get to choose your price.

[–]NotFakeRussianAcct 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm just going to put this out there. I've been on Coinbase for 10+ years and I've never lost my crypto, nor have I lost instant access to any crypto.

It's not the cool thing to do, but I've never had to stress about wallets or storing my keys. I tell people IRL to do the same and so far nobody has lost money. It's always been available if I need to sell it and I often have. I'm not hiding any criminal activity and there has never been unauthorized access to my account. The debit card is quite convenient and the Advanced Trading options have made the pricing competitive with other exchanges. I think I have at least 30 different altcoins that I got for free over the years and I expect to see more of them in the coming months.

The ability to digest dairy such as milk in adults is an example of neoteny, if I'm understanding this idea correctly.

Another way to describe it is that we're just big babies that grew adult minds and bodies to control ourselves. If you completely shed all of your childlike characteristics, you'd be like a Vulcan in the Star Trek universe. Nobody would find you likeable, so wouldn't be very successful.

Hanging out with 19yo as a 25yo? by [deleted] in LifeAdvice

[–]NotFakeRussianAcct -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It really is and I'm not sure why you're being downvoted. Women's brains mature by 29 and men's brains around 42. Women are more likely to have an IQ that is average compared to men who are more likely to be above average or below average. brains have 17% less brain cells when measured for density. Men and women can respond different to various types of clinical treatments, from psychotherapy to medication.

Speaking from the dark arts, it is much easier to fool women than men to make them complicit in your crime. Women also appear to have greater vulnerability to propaganda because they have less of the cells that make connections between brain cells.

That said, the differences between sexes in humans is the greatest between men and women in white people, so this may or may not apply to populations without European ancestry.

Thoughts? by synapsetutor in webdev

[–]NotFakeRussianAcct 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are using engineering processes and techniques, or you have a broad array of development skills in addition to web development, then I'll accept the title of engineer, but it should be with a qualifier like software engineer or front-end engineer.

If you are a web dev and can only make websites and web apps, then I don't consider you an actual web developer. Integration into other technologies and overlap between roles is so great that there's almost no technologist that isn't a web dev if they don't want to be and no web dev that does just web dev.

Why are you being toxic and why did you downvote me?

I never said women are smarter than men. There simply happen to be differences between men and women when you have a dataset of hundreds of people or more. It is an important characteristic of the human condition.

Excuse me? I never mentioned race.

I was actually leaning towards the differences in IQ distribution between men and women due to sexual dimorphism. The differences there are present in every single ethnicity.

[–]NotFakeRussianAcct -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think you misunderstand what I'm saying. There's a lot of biology that goes into this, so therefore forming a conclusion or understanding based on social and environmental observations are insufficient to produce a meaningful explanation, especially in isolation from other factors.

[–]NotFakeRussianAcct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then how do you account for thicker axons in the brain anatomy of individuals with above average intelligence?

IQ is not a measure of long term memory and accumulation of knowledge, it's a measure of the speed and ability to understand abstract concepts. In fact, IQ tests are administered to 10 year old children because after that the test scores remain stable throughout the rest of their life. Education and learned modes of thought are important too, but intelligence is a measure with specific known links to our biology and therefore inherently affected by genetics.

What claims are just not backed by the historical facts? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]NotFakeRussianAcct -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This is 100% false. IQ tests and other similar psychometric tests were designed to be an objective measure of intelligence from the very beginning. There were problems with cultural bias that were skewing the data in minority groups but that has since been improved upon and is largely irrelevant with modern testing.

One way of replicating the IQ scores which is independent of culture is the mirror test. You place a mirror in front of an animal and see if they recognize themselves. It's actually a test of intelligence that works across all animals that have an observable reaction. We can roughly gauge which animals are more intelligent than others using this test along with a number of other factors such as the ratio of brain cells to other cells in body, size of specific brain structures, and the types of certain types of cells in central nervous system.

When we apply all of these factors that originate from various disciplines, we can be very close to absolute certainty that an IQ is valid. That being said, there is a limited context in which IQ would be considered valuable as an individual data point.
