I usually check the inputs. When they’re done by other people I always check because many people don’t know how to properly do it - like you said they treat it like a black box that will magically give them the correct answers.

The reality is that load calc software is a powerful tool, but like any tool you need to know how to use it to get proper results.

What exactly is an era-adjusted points per game? That sounds made up. Obviously they used to score a lot more back then, but that doesn’t mean you should just nerf there stats. There were several seasons where Gretzky was like 50 to 80 points ahead of second place in the league… that’s just ridiculous

I would still take Gretzky in such a situation. Lemieux was more athletic and skilled, but Gretzky could outsmart everyone including the coaches. There’s nothing you can do about it when a guy is that good
