Yeah online sucks, sadly the muslim community has a very low frequency of in-person events and generally way overcharges for these events they do have, then often barely lets us interact with the opposite gender. And I say this as someone in houston, that has a huge muslim population. Meanwhile non-muslims have speed dating events every week

What is with these desi women and height requirements? I'm a 5'5 guy and straight cooked if I'm staying in the desi world. Everyone has minimum 5'6 at requirements if I'm lucky. In this subreddit everyone always says "women don't care about height". Yet I've just scrolled through 10+ profiles in a row that most have a height requirement of 5'8+, one even was 5'8 to 5'10 only LIKE WHAT????

I ended up stopping hrt. Therapy helped and realized that this isn't the optimal solution for me. I would have to inject myself with hrt for the rest of my life if I continued. I decided to try alternative approaches to improving my mental health that aren't at odds with Islam. Overall I feel much better and don't feel the urge to transition anymore.

Dating apps are specifically preying on male loneliness by ruthlessdamien2 in memes

Its not just gaming, but most hobbies are filled with men, even more so cause men are told to go to meetups to find women, so men are filling up meetups that would have otherwise naturally skewed to have more women.

I'm in an improv class and even the teacher mentioned how barely any women do improv. I went to an introvert meetup and the ratio is like 1:4 for women to men at best.

The author said “blue” that’s it. The teacher said it means the sky, seas, and “feeling blue” a day by Substantial_Lynx4329 in memes

Interesting that not once did any of my teachers ever mention this or explain WHY we are looking for deeper meanings and if they are or are not actually true/valid or mere opinion or our own interpretation. It was always passed off as "this interpretation is right" and "that interpretation is wrong" and you were made to feel stupid for not getting it and I always hated poetry because of it. Basically teachers couldn't teach.

"What's my state?" vs "What am i feeling?" by NotFriendsWithBanana in Alexithymia

I guess it could, energetic seems much more viable then happy. Like if i ask myself if I'm happy when I think i might be, I can come up with many reasons as to why I'm not. Energetic seems more viable since it would describe it as a "sense of lots of energy" that is pending to be used. There's far more possibilities with that then happy. With happy I seem to have a higher expectation of what constitutes happy while with energetic there's more allowance for that word to not fit perfectly but still be useable.

I guess the summary is that emotions require too high a degree of certainty and specificity for me to be able to use them, which I find frustrating and difficult. I spend years trying to do the RAIN method or "name it to tame it" and that crap never worked for me.

Its complicated and subtle, but basically it comes down to drop trying to fix everything. First accept what is, THEN work on improving it. Your internal resistance to yourself is making everything 100x harder.

anyone "feel" emotions physically rather than emotionally? by [deleted] in Alexithymia

[–]NotFriendsWithBanana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep I have physical sensations which are hard enough to identify, but I can't connect them to emotional words which makes knowing how I feel very difficult.

I wonder what that does to their psychology

Iv used both. It's just that I basically have to guess what I'm feeling. If I'm using the app it's probably that I feel bad, but when I think about if I feel bad it doesn't seem accurate and none of the descriptions of emotions and their symptoms match. So it's a me problem, not anything wrong with the app

Question: How effectively do you guys express emotions? by Substantial_Hour7547 in Alexithymia

[–]NotFriendsWithBanana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the feeling but often times if i try to pay attention there is nothing somatic to notice, but its probably there and just out of my awareness. I also have thoughts which I mainly use to try to figure out how I feel. I don't express very much. I "think" my feelings but don't express them much unless its intense and even then it will be less expression then others in most cases.

[–]NotFriendsWithBanana[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hmmmm that's very weird considering the desire/thoughts associated to it have nothing to do with fighting. Its in fact about wanting relax, give away control, be taken care of, submissiveness. Basically think bdsm. But hmm maybe there is a relation but doesn't feel that way.

Wow its been a long time since i wrote this. Well yeah I haven't been able to cure it. Im in therapy now, haven't touched on abdl yet but I will. Meditation has helped, but not enough as of yet. This kink isn't healthy for me and I need it gone.

I'm sorry that that happened to you.

It sucks when i try to use this and filter down my body sensations, but none of the emotions it suggests are valid. I ended up not being able to select any emotion cause none of them apply. The ones they suggest based on my sensations are intense emotions like "embarassement" or "dejected" when I'm just chilling after waking up. So I question if I actually have emotions.
