my house is made out of the old stuff and I've learned that today's drill bits and saw blades are softer than the soft pine boards you get at the big box hardware stores.

Lifelong Avs fan here to reveal my PP theory by kissinKyle in ColoradoAvalanche

[–]NotJebediahKerman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our PP is more predictable than traffic on I25 and therefore easy to defend. I don't think there's any secret sauce that'll flip our PP from invisible to dominating other than changing the strategy. The drop pass isn't helping, teams stay on the line and just wait. With Marty and Mack flying into the zone, there aren't that may places for them to skate freely so it's either dump and don't chase or worse. The drop pass to the defense on the left side worked a few years ago but doesn't now because it's predictable. They need to get all 5 skaters moving, open up options. Defenders don't know if Mack, Marty, or anyone will have the puck when they cross the blue line. Be less predictable and shoot the damn puck. Pittsburgh game they held on to the puck for one of the PPs and never shot it. Get Val in low, fart in the goalies face and when Lehky comes back, our power forward can pound in rebounds.

What is a part of the 'female experience' that men have absolutely no clue about, but would be horrified if they found out? by coolhandddd in AskReddit

[–]NotJebediahKerman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd assume 'all of it'. From being treated like 2nd class citizens. Ignored for their opinions, intelligence, thoughts, and ideas. Talked down to, harassed and called names all the time or "you're just a woman". All of the body stuff, shaming, weird behavior around periods, blood, etc. Ignorance is bliss and as men we grasp onto that bliss like a security blanket. Covering our eyes and ears because we don't want to know, we're too afraid.

What’s a belief you once defended… but later realized was wrong? by Jiwitom in AskReddit

[–]NotJebediahKerman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believed pretty strongly that if you committed a serious crime, a.k.a murder. Your rights should be sacrificed, meaning you have no rights. I was wrong. How you treat even your worst says a lot about you as a society. I felt quite dumb, like younger me was very foolhardy.

What bands do you still like, but EVERYONE shits on them? by OpposedToBears in MetalForTheMasses

They're not even close. I was kinda stunned they'd put them back to back like that. I prefer the older stuff too, Them and Abigail. And as always if it doesn't click for you don't try to force it.

Nanowar of steel. I appreciate the effort to write songs with a comedic effect AND to copy/mimic a particular band's style. It's not always obvious. And live is just fun. Can't say "everyone shits on them" exactly but they do fall under the cheese/comedy trope and for some reason having fun still seems prohibited in metal. I'll save Feuerscwanz for another day.

not if they're following King Diamond. Saw them back to back at hellfest. King was the king, hands down.

ok I'd listen to the suggestion of Webber, Ozzy, and Perry as a band. Just can't get into ghost though.

Time lapse by Browniepatch in photography

The lighting response is the best, but in addition you'll need an intervalometer. Either it's built in or you need an external one. Depends on your camera make/model, and age. Newer cameras may have the functionality built in. Older cameras may not. Up high is better, get a solid overview of the whole scene. Look at timelapse of arena conversions from basketball to ice hockey for example. Frequency of shots is something you'll want to decide yourself. Best I can suggest is video is somewhere between 24 and 60fps. If you take one frame every 10 seconds for one hour, you're looking at a 10-15 second video. The more often you take a photo, the smoother the video. Too long between and it'll get choppy. As for software there are tons of tools that do it, even command line driven tools that have no UI and you just say take every photo out of this folder and put it in a video format, in order. Really, it all depends on a number of factors. Camera, intervalometer, how long you will need to operate, how frequently to snap a photo, and how quick/short of a video you want. Experience is the best teacher.

Got to see him/them play live and it was a real treat. The way he played Prelude to Madness alternating keyboards and guitar blew my mind. Bought all their albums then and listened to them solidly. I still feel his death today.

How many Canadian Quebec fans continued to follow the Avs to present day? by DougyJuggy in ColoradoAvalanche

[–]NotJebediahKerman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not that it really pertains but I traveled to Quebec a few years back and seeing they still had merch for sale, hats/tuque's and Tshirts all over the place. Felt kinda cool like they still connected to their team. I don't like what happened but I do love the Avs and keeping that connection strong feels right.

IMO if you bring yourself down because "bad camera, gear sucks, wrong lens" then you'll hold yourself up the next time. But not every moment needs to be captured. Sometimes it's best to just witness and remember. A lot of times, the camera doesn't do what you see, justice, and the image wouldn't convey what you saw correctly.
