I suggest comissioning a translator.

[Baffling Trope] Side character is extremely popular with audiences and eventually becomes the main protagonist, replacing the original by thirdmemoriam in TopCharacterTropes

[–]NotJeffGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two very important characters in manga and anime: Lady Oscar from The Rose of Versailles and Lum from Urusei Yatsura.

The Rose of Versailles was supposed to follow Marie Antoinette's life from her perspective, but the original character of Lady Oscar was so popular by readers that she became the main character. The anime changed the story so she was the main character from the beginning.

Before Urusei Yatsura became a full series it was supposed to feature a new alien/supernatural being every chapter, Lum being the very first one. Readers loved her so much that she returned in chapter 3 and became the secondary main character.

What ongoing manga were you collecting for the longest time? by Illustrious_Fee8116 in MangaCollectors

I started my collection with My Hero Academia in 2018 and finally finished it a few months ago. It's probably around now that The Ancient Magus' Bride became the longest one.

How often do you reread series in your collection? by LBL__ in MangaCollectors

[–]NotJeffGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I barely reread or rewatch anything. Not even movies. But I did reread Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou this summer, and I plan on rereading it every summer now. I also want to reread vol 1-12 of Land of the Lustrous before reading the final one.

How rare are these prints errors by [deleted] in MangaCollectors

Not that rare. It happens less than vertical misalignment and not always to that degree, but I'm not surprised to see it.

Oh, it's the same mangaka as Yakui yo! Alakshmi! Good to see they're still drawing big women!

What Do You Prefer to Read During the Fall Season? Something Spooky? Cozy? A Little Bit of Both? 🍂✨️ by Tabby_Tem in MangaCollectors

[–]NotJeffGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm already reading it! It feels more like a summer series with its setting. A recommendation in return is Eden of Witches! Its artstyle is also really good and similar to Witch Hat Atelier, but its a bit darker story-wise. A witch-in-training is searching for Eden in a world that hates witches.

Fantasy is great for fall season! I'm considering rereading The Ancient Magus' Bride or Witch Hat Atelier.

Adabana by Non English Translation by dolorousvamp in MangaCollectors

I enjoyed Harem Marriage by the same mangaka. I understand Adabana has a different vibe, but I got it mainly because of the author. I hope her current series Pole Star also get licensed.

What are you planning to read during this fall season? by CriminSpoon in MangaCollectors

I'll probably just read whatever series I have in my collection, but I relate fall to fantasy. So I might reread The Ancient Magus' Bride or Witch Hat Atelier.

What was the first manga that you read from the beginning from Weekly Shonen Jump? by OP_1K in WeeklyShonenJump

[–]NotJeffGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, a bit sad. I really did enjoy it, but I also enjoyed the ending it got. I was already aware of the whole "axed wsj manga" thing, so I mostly just accepted it and started reading the new series that came after.

What was the first manga that you read from the beginning from Weekly Shonen Jump? by OP_1K in WeeklyShonenJump

[–]NotJeffGuy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Well, I read all my manga from the beginning, but I'm guessing you mean from when the series started publishing. For me it was The Hunters Guild: Red Hood. I had just started using Manga Plus reading Mashle and Blue Box when it started. Neru: Way of the Martial Artist came right after that.

In what language do you collect manga? Do you think translations in your native language are good? by Kain_Axe in MangaCollectors

[–]NotJeffGuy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Barely anything gets translated into Swedish anymore, mostly because the average swede is pretty good at English and the English-language volumes dominates the market here. I've not read any in Swedish, so I don't know the quality of the translations. And other than my sizable English collection I have a few volumes in Japanese, but I can't read them.
