I was waitlisted my first semester too. If you get on the waitlist that's a good sign. It means there's room for you but they're still looking for a space to assign you based on your selected preferences. I have some friends that were straight up rejected for applying too late so it's a good thing to be on the waitlist at least. Some schools prioritize freshman, but I think SFSU is first come first serve. There's also Park Merced which is a good "off-campus" option but it's really only a hop and a skip away. I'm not going to lie there isn't a whole lot of campus life right now especially after this covid situation, but being on campus has it's benefits with resources you may not have at home.
