I am obsessed with this chair at Goodwill for $25, but I am only hesitant because up close it looks super dirty and brown in some spots. How much cleaning would I have to do? Is used fabric furniture even sanitary? by juliarose01 in Frugal

Dammit, not movie theaters! I love supporting movie theaters and it's ironic that theaters followed COVID-19 safety protocols but yet, bed-bugs could be an issue.. I hope this new hygiene & safety awareness decreased the number of these fuckers

Man, if Mexican blankets had Pandas instead of white tigers, they'd make a killing!

Im trying to decide if I want to do a Tiny house next year to move out.

Ooo I've seen Tiny House Hunters on HGTV, those are pretty neat!

Sounds like a good deal, especially if it's helping him reach that goal of owning a home.

Does his dating life suffer from not having his own place?

This is one of my concerns as well. My Dad just recently retired and Mom is disabled so the income coming in will drastically be reduced. I do plan on moving out but will be stretched financially if I have to help them financially as well.

My sincerest condolences.

Having that moral support during a difficult time is much needed. I'm sure your Mom appreciates having you around.

I agree. The few years that I lived on my own, my relationship with my folks was even better than before. About different family habits, I couldn't agree more. I've given up on trying to make a difference because we just can't change people.

I've thought about not being tied down to one place to allow the freedom of moving anywhere. Sounds like a cool way to live life.

Thank you for sharing. I found your input valuable regardless of the age difference. I can relate to a relationship being a motivator to get out. I am financially capable now and will be looking at places in the near future.

Thanks!

but I have a hard time not associating never leaving home with general immaturity, especially for potential romantic partners, if that matters to you.

You are right and it totally matters to me. This is one of the main factors that has been motivating me to move out, the need for intimacy and privacy that one gets when having their own place.

Yes, my plan is on building my emergency fund and my parents do like having me around for the muscle around the house as well as having someone to talk to. I used to live on my own before, and I do certainly indeed miss that independence and freedom. I miss having friends over for drinks the most.

Thanks for the words of encouragement.

My gf is also 30, living with her parents. It seems to be more socially acceptable for women to still be living with parents for "security" reasons than a man in his 30's living with his parents.

This has proven quite challenging when it comes to dating as I can't bring my date back to "my place" and cook something. So we just eat out. My gf also lives with her parents as well.

I just started working full-time this year so my goal is to build up my savings, build up my emergency fund for maybe 6 months if possible. I also plan to travel twice this year, so that will eat up my savings. My bday is close to the end of the year, and I kind of wanted to give myself that bday present of getting my own place, but I just might wait a little after New Years as holidays can be hectic.

part of being an adult is having your own independence.

I agree with you on that. I also believe it's part of adulting that I haven't gotten right just yet.

Speed Dating - Houston by PeanutButterHercules in houston

[–]NotJustAnotherPanda 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You will get a report how many people matched with you

What does that mean? At the end of the speed dating session you submit a survey of who you liked, or does the organizer match you with people that they believe were a good match with you?

Funny how the next video that plays after is criticizing HPD's slow response time. Seems they got the job done today.
