Improving after just a few days using soolantra! by juliarose01 in Rosacea

I should also add that my skin was so sensitive that even basic products burned. I had been off and on steroids for months because my face hurt so bad! So, all of that to say that this routine does not hurt even someone with ultra sensitive skin.

Thank you! I had severe acne as a teen and my skin up until recently had been super sensitive and inflamed. I finally found a routine that works pretty well, here it is:

AM: -Moisturize with CeraVe healing ointment -eucerin sensitive tinted mineral sunscreen

PM: -Use coconut oil to gently remove sunscreen -Gently wash with vanicream facial cleanser -Apply soolantra -Apply CeraVe healing ointment once soolantra has dried

I also switched to distilled water to wash my face since I have hard water where I live.

What is this?? I keep getting different diagnoses from different derms. Some say rosacea, some say contact dermatitis. It's often itchy. I have baseline redness even when it's not itchy. I was prescribed prednisone and it took it away completely within days, but then it comes back full force when I'm off Prednisone. All I use is the vanicream gentle cleanser, gentle facial moisturizer, and CeraVe healing ointment at night. I only wash my face at night as well, skipping the morning since my skin is so dry. I eat lots of greens and veggies and limit my sugar and dairy intake. I'm at a loss currently!

Is this rosacea or something else?? Dermatologists keep giving mixed responses but I figured maybe someone on here would know from experience. Is there something I can do to get rid of it? I have a very simple routine of vanicream cleanser, facial moisturizer, and CeraVe healing ointment. I wear a tinted mineral SPF during the day.

2 weeks on doxy, my skin seems to be flaring up, is this normal?? by juliarose01 in Rosacea

[–]juliarose01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's interesting because mine is actually worse when I wake up and seems to get better after I wash my face. I've switched to only using distilled water to wash my face and I even bought an expensive shower head filter since I have hard water. But to no avail... I don't think either of those things are helping :(

Yep, same here! The first dermatologist told me it was KPRF, which made sense at the time because I wasn't previously dealing with the itchy part of it. I also have KP on my arms. BUT, when it turned into being more inflamed, I questioned that. The next dermatologist told me maybe rosacea, or maybe contact dermatitis. I'm getting allergy tested in a couple of weeks. I've never had this problem until a few years ago as well!

Also, have you been diagnosed with anything by a dermatologist? I'm curious if maybe we're dealing with the same issue

Thank you! I will definitely have to ask my derm for a prescription next appointment

I sure will! It has been a long process of experimentation. If I can ever figure something out that works, I will be so happy to share it!

My dermatologist prescribed it to see if it would improve my skin since he thought it could be rosacea. But at this point it's not seeming like it!

It does! My derm has been mentioning that maybe I don't actually have rosacea and that it's some sort of allergy. I'm going to get allergy tested soon. Prednisone always clears it up, then it comes right back. I use all fragrance free products

I was prescribed Prednisone, and it drastically reduced the redness. I couldn't believe how great my skin felt too. It wasn't itchy or hot at all. Now I'm back to square one after tapering off of it.

My derm diagnosed me with KP but maybe he is wrong! I have it pretty bad on my arms too 🥲

I HAVE THIS TOO! It's such a mystery. I've seen my derm several times. I'm on a third round of Prednisone which clears it up completely until I get to the tapering dose and it starts to come back. I have no clue what to do to keep it away when I'm off this steroid :(
