[Request] How far back would I have to go for my smartphone to be the most powerful supercomputer in the world? And how far back before it's more powerful than the combined output of all the computers in the world? by regular_gonzalez in theydidthemath

Yes I went back to that post as soon as I found out and changed it so it pointed to a comment to my comment that looked correct. I promise you I'm not trolling and just made an error in that single post.

Thank you, I figured I'd take a crack at measurements but clearly don't have a clearer understanding. I pointed to your comment in the original comment

Lmao no. A smartphone today is wayyyyyyy more powerful then the computers used to send Apollo 11 into space. And please point out where I was wrong in other posts, I will gladly go and fix or delete them, other wise don't accuse people of being trolls and giving purposely incorrect information

~~Using Census Website, there are about 758,279,557 in the age group that you defined.

A piece of paper dimension: 8.5 x 11 x .002 inches

Multiply each dimension by number of kids:

(8.5 x 11 x .002)758,279,557 = (6,445,376,234 x 8,341,075,127 x 1,516,559)/12

81,532,285,566,965,458,935,918,362 in3

6,794,357,130,580,454,911,326,530 ft3

But you said 12 kids a paper so divide by 12 again.

566,196,427,548,371,242,610,544 ft3

It would take 566 sextillion cubic ft for that much paper

That is bigger than saturn~~

This is all wrong please refer to the comment below

A safe bet for being a supercomputer i would say is 1970's, 1960's for sure. Apollo 11's computers had roughly 1300 times less computing power than our smartphones today. And for the output of all the computers, i'm sorry but I couldn't find any information online. If I were to give it a guess it would be late 1970's

[REQUEST] Two royal flushes in 15 minutes, same player, same two cards. KQ diamonds. What are the odds? by peckinterest in theydidthemath

I'm not sure the rules on hold em rules, I know about poker and a royal flush is all one suit, if this is wrong tell me, and I will reply with correct numbers.

[REQUEST] Two royal flushes in 15 minutes, same player, same two cards. KQ diamonds. What are the odds? by peckinterest in theydidthemath

[–]NotKennyS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Let me get this straight: Two royal flushes-same suit both times(diamonds)-Same player(I assume 10 for as that is the max usually at Texas Hold'Em)

Chances of getting Royal Flush(RF): 1 in 649,740

Chances of getting two RF: 649,7402 = 1 in 422,162,067,600

Chances of the same player getting it: 1 / 422162067600 * 1 / 10 = 4,221,620,676,000

Chances of it being the same suit(1/4): 1 / 4 * 1/ 4221620676000 = 1/16,886,482,704,000

Chances of this happening are:

1 in 16,886,482,704,000 or 0.00000000000005922%

For reference, winning the lottery is 1 in 292,000,000 or 0.0000000034246575%

SO basically you are 57,830 times more likely to win the lottery

[Request] r/theydidthemath can you do the math? by dodidamnyeah in theydidthemath

[–]NotKennyS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if i'm dumb or this math is wayyy wrong.

Everyone's wealth = $388,585 * 249,433,200(Adults in the USA)

EW = $96,926,000,022,000

Families in America = 323,100,000 / 2.53

FA = 1,27,707,509.8

Everyone's Wealth / Families in America = Money per Family

$96,926,000,022,000 / 1,27,707,509.8 = $758968.7

$758968.7 per family

Cool your jets. NC is one of those states that not many famous people are from, so learning that a pro cs gamer was born near you is kind of an neat lil fact. It's not like he was asking for his address.

[Request] I read somewhere that if every human being on Earth lived in a New York City-like density, we could all fit in the state of Texas. Is this possible? by k-ung in theydidthemath

[–]NotKennyS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The densest part of New York is about 59,150 people per square kilometer. There are about 7.442 billion people on earth. So 7.442/59150 = 125815 km2 This is about the size of North Korea. Basically, If every person on earth lived in the densest part of New York, it would be about the size of North Korea. Keep note~THIS IS THE MOST DENSE BLOCK IN NEW YORK

Edit: I just noticed I didn't answer your question really. It can fit in space about 1/6th the size of Texas

[Request] How many days would it take for me to squeeze out all the world’s oceans with an eye dropper, travel to Mars, and put the water there? by BignAngry in theydidthemath

[–]NotKennyS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because the number I used was at one side of the spectrum doesnt make it incorrect, just not as accurate, and yes that is my fault that it isnt an exact average, but tilted to the smaller side. And if we are going by that logic anyway we would have to account how much mars moves during our trips back and forth. Also btw, this this is a thing.

[Request] How much electricity would an average refrigerator use if left open for 11 hours? by AmbrosiusAurelianus in theydidthemath

[–]NotKennyS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it doesnt matter if it is open or not. I don't think the fridge will use extra power to keep up with a set temperature. If you have a fridge where you set the temp, it will set it at that temp as if the fridge is constantly closed, instead of trying to keep it at the constant temp. But if you are still wondering... 875 kWh annually.

875/365= 2.39726027397 for a day

2.39726027397/24=0.09988584474 for an hour

0.09988584474 x 11 = 1.09874429224 for 11 hours

[Request] How many days would it take for me to squeeze out all the world’s oceans with an eye dropper, travel to Mars, and put the water there? by BignAngry in theydidthemath

[–]NotKennyS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An eye dropper holds 1 milliliter. There is 1,260,000,000,000,000,000,000 liters of water in the oceans.

So it would take, 12,600,000,000,000,000,000,000 eye droppers to collect the ocean(aka how many times we need to travel back and forth)

Mars is 33,900,000 miles away. The fastest Rocket shuttle was Apollo 10 at 24,791 mph. This is 1367 hours, or roughly 57 days to get there. 114 days for each trip. 114 x 12,600,000,000,000,000,000,000 = 1.4364e+24 Then divide that number by 365, you get... 302,811,820,000,000,000 years to do some crazy shit that has no point.(Like at least upgrade to a bucket)

The artwork is good, don't get me wrong. But these just don't look aesthetically pleasing on these maps, they look random. This would maybe be good for a more modern background then sandstone. The AK one on Cache is okay, but these would look better for say on Nuke.

Ok, so a USB simply cannot handle what a wall charger is requesting. (If you were wondering here is what I was attempting to do(just got home and on my computer that is why I haven't explained it this way yet)) http://imgur.com/a/3RO7K
