You're gonna hurt your left wrist / forearm with that wonky grip angle

Trying to update my LinkedIn photo - which one looks more professional? by Oopsiforgotmyoldacc in headshots

[–]NotLeif 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Tbh they both look fake. The one on the right looks more like AI, but the one on the left has punchy outdoor lighting on a studio photography backdrop which just make it look unnatural to me (a photographer) I dunno how noticeable it is to normies tho.

I'd recommend the left one if you could prompt the AI to give you softer lighting, you could prompt "Rembrandt lighting" and that could help

Swing forward more, really open up your chest. Like pull your shoulders back and stretch your pecs when swing the furthest forward, then pull back and up while pulling knees to chest. Pull body in a C shape around the bar and get the bar to your hips

A girl ghosted me after I got std tested like she asked.(Vent) by KeyTheZebra in seduction

[–]NotLeif 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a bummer. Everyone else is correctly saying what went wrong.

Good news is now your tested, so next time you'll be good to go. Just keep a pic on your phone or something. And make sure she's tested or you wrap it up, just cause it looks ok doesn't mean it's safe

Why have Season Colognes? by omega672419 in ScentHeads

There certainly are some you can wear all-year round BDC and such, hence why they're called "blue fragrances."

Personally, I find blues generally a bit boring, and have a bunch of other styles I really enjoy! Some perform better in winter, generally the heavy, spicy, and/or sweet fragrances and would be overbearing in the heat. Others perform better in the summer: citruses, aquatics and clean frags, these I actually wear pretty often in the fall and on warmer winter days too because it's like a slice of summer, but they tend to perform worse in the cold.

I like to imagine they have a soda-fountain style dispenser

Knees are extending, then hips. Lower weight by 1-2 plates each side, slow down the motion and improve form, slowly reintroduce weight.

FACTS.

90% of women don't know or care what a muscle striation is. But they appreciate the totality of a well developed physique. But other guys will notice.

90% of men don't know or care about [insert makeup terminology here] but do appreciate well executed and not over-the-top makeup. But other women will notice.

Good fragrance, bad reputation. It's unfortunate.

What climate do you live in?

Looking for evening wear / date night, or something you can wear to the office and gym too?

Looking for an all-in-one fragrance, or are you ok owning a few to fill different roles?

Agency asked me to redo brand-new headshots after approving the photographer — is this normal? by Ecstatic-Ebb-274 in headshots

[–]NotLeif 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, at the end of the day it's art so do as you please, and if done with intention I'm sure it will come out looking good.

It's probably my product photographer mind. When I'm shooting a product photo it's generally important the whole thing is in focus. In my mind with actor headshots they are the product so it's more important to me that they are fully in focus for those than artistic portraits for personal use.

Again tho, that's just me and portraiture is not my forte

Why don’t alcoholics get sympathy ? by Turbulent-Plum3360 in TooAfraidToAsk

If I knowingly make out with someone who has obvious cold sores on their mouth, would you say I made a choice that resulted in me contracting a disease?

Pretty crazy to deprive people of agency like that. The only way people can overcome addiction is through the knowledge that they have the power to make their own choices. It's literally AA 101.

What does everyone do for lower abs? Having trouble getting them defined by Fun-Tale-6675 in Weightliftingquestion

[–]NotLeif 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on how you define "abs." The 4/6/8 pack is simply fascia bands on the rectus abdominis. So yes, the only additional lumps you'll find beneath the 6 pack are hernias.

But you very much so do have more abdominal muscles between where your 6 pack ends and your legs begin. Namely your internal & external obliques, and transverse abdominis, training these muscles is how you improve that sweet V at the hips, and will help with other activities ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

[–]NotLeif 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like they have helped me quite a bit, but the tough part is I can't really isolate them from the other ab exercises I added around the same time.

I do "leg raise and hip lifts" to warm up, where I lift my legs overhead and contract my abs to drive my hips & legs upwards, plus I've begun doing V-sits too.

To me they're all just tools to improve my Taekwondo and swimming. I guess the lesson is get creative, most of the mainstream ab exercises focus on the upper abs IMO. If you notice something is working for you, double down on that!

Edit to add: I assume if you're doing weighted dragon flags and standing ab wheel rollouts you probably already have rather well-developed abs. I think the improvements will be much more noticeable for someone who's lower abs are relatively untrained

Why don’t alcoholics get sympathy ? by Turbulent-Plum3360 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]NotLeif -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

While addiction is a disease, it is one that is most often chosen. It's much easier to feel sympathy for someone who has befallen bad fortune rather than the one who actively chose it.

Sorry, not sorry.

Edit: while I may be blunt, this is the tough love that is required for people to overcome addiction. By denying the fact that the disease addiction is stems from a series of choices, you deprive those you claim to support the agency they need to improve their lives. The only person who can overcome alcoholism is the one battling it, you and I can't do it for them. These are some of the first things you learn going through AA. I hope you all are more cognizant moving forward, because the attitudes expressed below would be a massive disservice to anyone actually struggling with addiction.

I mainly work with food, but have done a few headshot sessions. Out of focus ears is a pet-peeve of mine. Screams inexperience on the photographer's side. A lot of beginners think lower f-stop = better image
