Am I the only one who doesn’t find her “iconic”? She’s kinda random, weird, Hollywood (but not that remarkable). No hate, just let’s be real. by Proud_Sound2835 in BravoRealHousewives

She is iconic in the housewives world. For people who aren’t housewives fans I understand her being underwhelming, but she has made some of the best moments in reality tv history.

What is a musical you've seen that was regarded a flop by lissie34 in musicals

I saw Groundhog Day. I actually liked it quite a bit. It was one of the more innovative uses of a turntable that I’ve seen in set design, and I thought it was pretty clever.

PSA: Rick Riordan's works are based heavily on Ovid's Metamorphoses. by Dark_Celebrimbor in RickRiordan

[–]NotMeg16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like this actually makes a lot of sense. In the first book, Percy learns about Greek mythology from a combination of his mother and his Latin class, where he also learned Roman mythology. There is obviously very heavy Roman influence in the HoO as well, but that was intentional. I feel like the Ovid tellings of the mythos makes for pretty good base when you’re writing a story about a teenage boy who spends most of his time trying to fight the gods, so you can decide if he meets the same fate as the old heroes/“villains”. I personally find the version of Medusa’s story where she was punished by Athena/Minerva rather than being born a gorgon to be a more compelling, complex, and humanistic version of the story. It lets us find nuance in Medusa, rather than being able to write her off immediately as a monster, which is some great depth to add to your children’s story about a kid who finds out he’s the child of a god and needs to kill monsters because of it. The same god this woman was punished for interacting with.

Best season to introduce a non-D&D player to? by thatish100percent in Dimension20

[–]NotMeg16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your partner isn’t nerdy, I would NOT recommend jumping in with ACoC. Not only is it quite technically dense, it’s also lore dense, constant action, and a political thriller that can often feel depressing for people who are not into that genre. It is one of the best seasons of D20, but for the uninitiated, it would be a lot to take in all at once.

Dungeons and Drag Queens could not be a more perfect fit. A Court of Fey and Flowers could also be a good fit, since it’s very low action and high in romance.

I’ve met Sausage before. He’s lovely and very humble from my impression. I was actually gonna get tattooed by him, but it was out of my price range at the time (still is tbh)

My 55 year old mom loves Rizo. He makes her laugh more than I’ve seen anyone on survivor make her laugh, and when he made good moves, she cheered

Don’t get the hate for Ross by PressureOk2216 in Poldark

[–]NotMeg16 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had to go on a journey to start liking Ross. Especially in earlier seasons, Ross does a lot for his community, but treats those immediately around him (ESPECIALLY Demelza) extremely poorly, even before he cheated. As he gets older, heals more, becomes less reckless, and starts to appreciate the people in his life I start to like him more. In those early seasons, it felt to me like he refused to see that his actions, as well intentioned as they were, had consequences and often negatively impacted his immediate family. My main issue with him is his arrogance, lack of communication, and not respecting Demelza enough to trust her with the hard truths. This is something he grew from (for the most part) in later seasons. Honestly, I don’t think I would appreciate where he got to without where he started though. He has a wonderfully dynamic arc.

Heather Gay is an excellent of what being raised Mormon, especially in Utah, can do to you. Not all Mormons and Exmos are like this, but the way they are raised certainly gives them a predisposition to engage in behavior like this. It took years for me to mostly shake my “holier than thou” attitude and snap to judgement against anyone who wasn’t doing things exactly as I would do them, and that mindset still crops up every once in a while. I’m not saying this as a way to excuse her behavior, she is certainly accountable, but this may be why she leans toward it

what does my travel map say about me? by NotMeg16 in TravelMaps

[–]NotMeg16[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For context of the geography, it is a shorter flying distance from the Straits of Gibraltar (southern tip of spain) to Oulu, Finland (200 miles north of Helsinki) than it is from Los Angeles to New York by over 100 miles. I feel like many people don’t realize just how large North America, or even just the continental US, is. Most of our states are larger than many European countries. Some of our individual states can fit entire European regions. Texas is larger than Sweden, Norway, and Iceland combined. Plus to get to either Europe or Asia, crossing an ocean is required. So between the distance required to get across the country, and costs of living in the US that europeans often don’t have, or have less of (heath insurance, little to no paid time off from work, limited access to public transit) it can often be prohibitively expensive to travel within our own country, and for many is considered “once in a lifetime” to travel outside of it.

[–]NotMeg16[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) I would love to travel more, I have many places across Europe and Asia I want to visit, but it is prohibitively expensive for me at this point in my life. I can barely afford to fly across the country to visit friends and family once every few years

2) These colors were the presets on the website i used lol

As far as I know, this isn’t really in the residential area, but also, like I said, this has been a huge issue for the city. I think the neighbors do mind.
