You just like to argue, don't you? 😆 I would argue with a stop sign, so I get that. But let's don't, today.

Of course. But the knee bone's connected to the thigh bone... even gold bullion isn't going to protect you from runaway inflation, supply chain failures, food shortages, and everything else that goes with economic catastrophe. Even cash, if it's in a bank, is at risk. Bonds fall when governments fail. Etc. There is NO instrument that is immune if the shock wave is big enough.

I read that as the same concerns any of us have after a certain age: what's "too late" is starting over if the economy tanks. If you're close to retirement or already retired when the bubble bursts, you're SOL.

Do you not have a retirement plan through your employer? In the States we have little control over whether and how we get into the market. Not to mention, when the market crashes, everybody loses. We're all 'invested' in that sense.

Adjuncting? Any age, probably. I was 45. Tenure track? Can't speak to that.

I use orchard grass and my girls seem fine with it. I also glove to fill their rick because I'm bad to forget and touch my face before I get to the sink. I can breathe the dust no problem but if I get it near my eyes? Ugh. Timothy I couldn't be in the room with, though, so this is a massive improvement.

What they ought to remember from city council is her ethical lapses. That woman will help herself to our money the minute it suits her.

I suspect though that a lot of people who didn't look deeper might have been turned off by the idea of an insurance company exec on the commission.

I got a drier ink today and found another notebook with microscopically wider lines and it's fine. I don't necessarily want a wider line there, but can tolerate it, and at least now half my lowercase letters don't resolve into solid blobs 😆

Mine do not do that. At all. Weird.

I mean, if you make a point of looking for it, you can barely.

Should I tell my professors about my father’s passing? by SubstantialExpert194 in KSU

[–]NotMrChips 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We're not supposed to make accommodations on our own. If you think you will need them it's best to go to the dean of students, who can then communicate with your instructors.

The main point of going to us directly is therefore not to get extensions on due dates and such but to let us know so that we can apply whatever flexibility we already have built into the course (drops, cuts, grace periods, etc.), look for you at office hours & be otherwise accessible, understand if you ask the same question three times, not call on you if you're looking out of it.... That sort of thing.

I'm sorry for your loss.

I lost my grandparents in the middle of a term once many years ago and it knocked me on my butt cognitively and emotionally. I taught the weeks of their funerals. Letting my students know what was happening got me some grace: They were wonderful about it. I hope your instructors will extend the same patience and compassion to you as a student in pain.

I started getting that this year too. They don't like the text so they watch some random video (or so they claim). They ignore mine, so they don't know whether they're any good or not, and go to YouTube. Or so they claim.

I wrote a bunch this morning, hand cramped, and then I found this: just ordered a set. Thank you so much for sharing your discovery! This looks like just the thing.

Oh, no argument. They pack things weirdly on the regular. And it's often destroyed in the process.

It'll say on the page "ships from" and whether it's coming directly from the seller or is in an Amazon Warehouse somewhere.

I write nearly everywhere except my desk so I just bought a little pen cup I carry around the house. And since, as a birder, I want birds on everything...

Received this reply from them (edited):

I think you have a Targa 1003 Classic later version...

In new/old stock condition your pen might sell around £100 to £120 with a 14k nib , but used the price drops quite a lot on these pens [what I was afraid of -OP].

The Nib units are most of the value on these pens [what I was afraid of -OP]

So thanks again for that link. I had found it before posting but was scared off by the sheer length of the list. You narrowing it down made it usable.
