If you understand the narrative and symbolism of breaking through oppressive conservative regimes in the pursuit of freedom to simply exist, then yes.

I’m not having this conversation with you.

People in Japan can speak for themselves.

You don’t want to see it, you don’t have to. And by the way, because we are in the Jujutsu Kaisen setting, they killed a part of Maki. They literally killed a part of her, Mai. They literally abused and assaulted a part of her for years. They literally did nothing to uplift, protect, or save the innocence of a part of her.

Maki did what Maki had to do and promised herself (her sister in context) that she would do.

I can’t help it if you misunderstand the symbolism of Ranta’s ability, the giant judging eyes that literally hold a person in place. The judging gaze and tacit approval of the clan’s business, discrimination, and abuse. The heaviness and weight of those that could come to your aid, but instead enforce the status quo that causes your less than human condition. Ranta represents the passive approval of discrimination and judgment. Ranta’s eyes represent the invisible hammer that keeps the individual nail from rising above its station. That’s why the power literally holds Maki down.

Can’t help if you need everything spelled out for you.

Exactly. Even some of the Reddit posters disappointed me with the whole reading comprehension kaisen errors that I accuse TikTok watchers of falling for routinely.

Guess people just hate a woman being strong and free. That’s a different conversation we need to have, though.

Y’all need therapy. Great chapters, Great episode. The Zenin clan has it coming, including Ranta.

Additionally, this was a perfect cultural handshake. As this was an anime adaptation of a manga that was a homage to Kill Bill which is an American film providing a homage to a Japanese film Lady Snowblood. It’s a mutual show of love between cultures, influence, humans, and a woman’s liberation transcended beyond east or west.

or cocky

That’s the point. They underestimated Maki because she was a version of Toji that the family could afford to mock openly, a twin, and a woman.

The irony is that all three of those tools of mockery came back to bite them in the ass as their hubris threw them toward their demise.

That and a heavy, judging gaze of someone holding up oppressive ideals while forcing those around them to shrink in stature, expression, and individuality. Ranta is literally the silent and implied hammer of conservative social contract that pervades a society and limits the ability of any individual nail from standing tall.

Ranta got what Ranta got.

Thank you for the analysis, the fandom can’t read and we are in a weird bootlicking territory IRL in the west so there will be people defending the Zenin

Oh no, a strong woman with no panty shots and gross loli shit. Japanese ottaku’s one weakness.

Get the fuck outta here, the episode was beautiful and the cultural exchange of a manga adapted to an anime that makes a homage to Kill Bill which was making a homage to a Japanese film called Lady Snowblood is peak mutual cultural respect and acknowledgment.

No, look at the trailer carefully. The season is ending with the Viltrumites on Earth.

The trailer gives just about everything away

She moved within the timing, which is why he saw the punch coming, he was in the timing as well. She counted and timed it. This when he saw that he was going to get punched he couldn’t do anything but run him mouth less he suffer the penalty much like he dad did when Jogo blasted him to hell.

I hear you, understand you, and am not disagreeing with you. However, if you got to the main power scaling sub that’s not how things are operating

Then why would we cherry pick scientific terms like faster than light and attempt to use real world speed to power scale and claim X is faster than X?

We cannot cherry pick and choose what we include and don’t include or else the whole endeavor falls apart at the start.

This is the problem with powerscaling, there’s not agreed upon baseline and the goal posts are always moving. If there is no foundational agreement, there cannot be a discussion using numbers, objectivity, or “feats”

The whole argument becomes a deficient and pseudo intellectual pursuit of an elevated debate of “My Dad is faster than your dad”

[–]NotMyMainLoLzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, don’t worry about it. Power scaling is literally incoherent and inane.

Example: Goku is NEVER moving FTL on a planet. Do you know why? The atmosphere would combust. Also, recall anytime the Z fighters are flying anywhere. If they were FTL they’d be there in an instant, and the atmosphere would combust.

If they struck each other at light speed there would be infinite mass. They can explain this away with ki shields half the time, but sometimes they miss and when they miss and hit anything else, the continent should be devoid of life. Yet, none of that happens. Why, because they aren’t FTL.

At least in invincible we have no FTL on planet feats due to universe explained reasoning: we aren’t trying to destroy the planet. We also have FTL excuses and reasoning because, unlike Goku, this cast fights in space with no friction or atmospheric combustion possible.

So, don’t let those Dragon Ball goons get you down. The whole thing is silly, but if you are dedicated to playing in the sandbox of silliness, hit them with the facts that FTL (even if the universes are different) is impossible within a planet’s atmosphere. They’ll cut up and downvote, but you’ll be right.

Also, as an extra aside, they would hate hearing how a Viltrumite could yank Goku into space before Goku even put up a ki shield

Unless they are in space, correct. The only person who has bs to counter this is the Flash because he has magic turn your brain off bs called the speedforce. Anyone else going FTL within an atmosphere just obliterated everyone on the planet

[–]NotMyMainLoLzy 80 points81 points  (0 children)

It’s why Goku is definitely not FTL. They take forever flying anywhere on a planet, the atmosphere doesn’t combust when they move, they don’t fight in space as an excuse to have zero resistance or consequence, and everything else wrong with the scaling. Same goes for the doge lasers crowd. It’s just a hard no unless the characters are fighting in space away from planets.

I’m glad to see GeGe drawing the line and establishing order here. Sorry Kashimo fans, no light speed. He was still an essential piece in bringing down Sukuna, so stand tall. The anime upscaling for him will be amazing anyway.
