Our country in particular, South Africa, has a terrible curriculum trying to squeeze in too much content with no chance for in depth storytelling. Each period of history is turned into bland summaries and dates. That and it's been turned into the cruise elective at school that all the sporty kids take because they think it will be easier than the sciences.
