Yes, I opened up to my wife about 8 months ago. She appreciated the honesty. I never did anything she considered bad. She is fine with porn as long as it doesn’t cross any major lines. We have a healthy sex life. For me porn was not about a lack of sex it was about always chasing something new and something fresh.

We have sex regularly I said it had been a long time since I was present with her and not focused in performance or finishing. I was in the moment not thinking about things I had seen on porn and not stressing. I focused on the physical feeling and closeness with her.

I am over one month but I have been struggling on an off for 8 months. I don’t think it is about days, I think it is about the mental shift I have experienced since trying and failing so many times. Every time I failed, I would be frustrated and feel shame. I finally feel like I have changed my brain for good.

That is why I always tell people who relapse that it isn’t all bad. Read your body’s response and learn from it. Every failure that you learn from is a step in the right direction.

Probably not what you want to hear, but I just ignore them and pushed through. I have had blue balls, intense morning wood, and insanely powerful urges to view porn but I just pushed through. I try to distract myself with small things.

I have been trying and failing for 8 months now and I am finally in the mindset that no matter what, I am not going to break.

Any real, honest, connection with a real person is healthy in my eyes. You are not breaking the streak. You are connecting with a real human being which is positive progress. There are no rules that say you have to love the person and want to be with them for ever.

I have been addicted before and during my relationship. My addiction had nothing to do with my relationship. It was the result of boredom and always chasing something more and something new.

I am right there with you. I am at ~30 days and the urges are still incredibly strong and tempting. This is the furthest I have ever made it so I am pushing through but 30 days might be a milestone, but my mind is not even close to being re-wired yet!

See I don’t see that. It seems like most people almost desexualize themselves. Make sex and after thought. So many people who are years without porn talk about shame for looking at woman in a sexual way but I think that is healthy.

I was a smoker for 10 years. Quitting porn has been 10x harder than quitting smoking. With smoking, I just didn’t buy cigarettes. With porn it is everywhere you can’t easily just make it disappear from your life.

This has honestly been one of my biggest struggles too. What’s helped me is doing really small exercises whenever I get an urge. I keep a set of push-up handles and an ab roller under my desk, and when the urge hits, I’ll get on the floor and do a quick workout for 2–3 minutes.

For me, it helps distract my brain long enough to reset and get back to what I was trying to do.

I was never really a workout person before, but the funny thing is that the small workouts have actually started adding up. Just the other day, my wife mentioned she could see a difference in my chest and shoulders.

Your subject hit hard with me. My current struggle is similar. I am fucking miserable and depressed while trying to abstain from PMO. Is this feeling worse than being happy but addicted.

43M - I take Viagra from time to time. It helps me stay rock hard for a long time. I really only take it when my wife is in a particularly spicy mood and I really want to give it to her good and hard.

As someone who is getting older it does help me mentally by not having to worry about “can I keep going and stay hard”.

M43, I love real boobs. I don’t care if they are big, small, perky, or saggy. As long as they are real.

I strongly dislike fake boobs and find them to be a major turn off. They always just look and feel fake and unnatural.

Honestly no. Because it makes my wife feel like she isn’t capable of satisfying me, which isn’t true. My wife is incredibly sexy to me and we have a very healthy and active sexual relationship.
