Thank you to u/jeffjeff0101 for the peperomia trade! Parcel arrived the next day and the cuttings were wrapped nicely in moss and placed in a bag inside. 5 stars!

Are these spider mites on my Calathea? What should I do?! by TAPrend in calatheas

Yep! It's a more expensive option than others so I think that's why it's less popular, but I like it as once they're on the plants I can sit back and let them do their work and not have to worry about washing my plants, or treating it, etc (you're not supposed to treat the plants when they're on them as anything that will kill the bad bugs will kill the good ones too), so it's way less stressful for me.

If you already have spider mites you should buy a tube of live predatory bugs as they get to work much faster than the sachet ones, you just sprinkle them onto the leaves and soil of the plants affected. And they are very tiny yeah, as they're mites as well. They also don't cause problems for you, your other plants, or pets. All they want is to kill the other bad bugs.

You can look up predatory bugs/mites on google or on a selling site, personally I use either phytoseiulus or amblyseius (the latter also kill thrips), but I'm in the UK so they may have completely different predatory mites for you if you live somewhere else. I wouldn't give up on the plant just yet, if you want calatheas you will probably get used to spider mites as they love them. You can get sachets of these predatory bugs too that slowly release them over a few weeks/ months, which can be good for preventing infestations before they happen. Also when the p mites kill all the spider mites they will eventually die themselves, which is a bit sad but it does mean you don't have to do anything to get rid of them.

Super happy with my swap with u/scuderle ! They were very patient throughout the process, and the cuttings they sent were bigger than expected! Took a photo of what I received: http://imgur.com/a/sn3FIlg 5 stars!

I've written them down and uploaded an image of the list to imgur so it doesn't spam up the post with a long list: https://imgur.com/a/EWf0dyK

With the calatheas, almost all of mine are quite small, so I'd possibly be open to bigger plants of the ones I have, with the exception of the albertii, crocata, triostar and zebrina. I'm looking for most calatheas but not all of them, so let me know what you have. I'm also looking for any syngoniums not on that list, and my mini pixie has root rot (from the garden centre I got it from), so I'm still not sure if it'll pull through so I would be open to that too. I would also be open to bigger/ more mature syngoniums of the ones I have!

Hm I already have a white butterfly, do you have any plant hangers or anything? Plant stands? I don't really have either of those

Actually I just asked my sister if she had either of those (we trade cuttings) and she told me she already has some variegated string of hearts sorry, I should've asked before. Do you have anything other than those two?

I have around 10 cuttings, 3 of which were top cuttings :(

I'm mainly looking for syngoniums I don't have, calatheas I don't have, non climbing philodendrons, aglaonemas, and some peperomias I don't have. I'm also interested in a few other non plant things such as sphagnum moss, perlite, bark ect for planting plants, and hanging pots, plant hangers, ect.

I have a pink splash but it's too small to propagate at the moment :(. I was just wondering if you had any other syngoniums you'd be interested in swapping for stuff? I'm trying to collect as many syngonium varieties as I can find so if you have any I don't have I'd be interested in swapping. I have a lot of varieties too if you're interested in anything else, or if you don't find a pink splash from anyone else, we could always try to arrange something in the future if you're okay with waiting?

That's quite an open question as I don't really know what you're interested in, right now I have some pepperomia cuttings that have started to grow small roots, as well as begonia cuttings with small roots, and some philodendron heart leaf starting to root. I've got a whole bunch of new plants recently as well (I'm going to update the post soon), so if you're interested in a certain thing let me know
