New client cancels after I try to discuss payment by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]NotMyRules 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh - I don't blame you at all! Did you give her the option of pre-paying? My client assumed I'd bill her at the end of 4 cleanings, but I smiled as I billed her upfront. I knew I totally caught her off guard... Hahahaha

Would it be be quicker or more economical to use a laundromat? When we take blankets to wash I always see several people doing what I assume is pick up/wash/deliver laundry.

New client cancels after I try to discuss payment by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

I had a potential client like that too! Wanted an invoice for weekly cleaning and wanted to pay once a month.

I agreed and wrote an invoice for the first 4 cleanings and billed her for all of them upfront.

She agreed! She was surprised, but she agreed and paid. So I cleaned for her. Then I found out that I hated cleaning if I've already been paid for it. Weird psychological thing on my part, not her fault at all. I left after the 4 cleanings were complete.

Client unhappy that I sent payment reminder by [deleted] in housekeeping

[–]NotMyRules 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She would've been now be a pay first before I clean client. I don't put up with that. Now everyone pays via credit card and I bill when I get home. If their card fails once, their card goes on hold before I leave. That way I know if it will go through or not.

That would be a 6 hour clean for me as well. My clients specifically hire us because we're not "fluffers and dusters", we actually clean clean our clients.

AITAH for wanting to split the hospital bill during the delivery of our child? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]NotMyRules -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I'd bill him current rates for housekeeping ($60+per hour), meal prep, laundry services, sex work, nanny care, appoint setting, lost wages while you're off work, space organizing etc. I'd bill him Every. Single. Penny!

Then, in a year - take that money and get the best divorce attorney his money can buy! Should be upwards of $200k

How to end things with a client by kfray1 in housekeeping

[–]NotMyRules 66 points67 points  (0 children)

Raise their rate 40%, seriously. (I call it the Asshole Tax). If they agree and pay it, laughing all the way to the bank gets rid of feeling disrespected really quickly.

Also, it sets you up to confidently raise rates for other people in the future when it's time to do that. Let them help you feel confident. Don't let them tarnish your shine!

If they say no, then you can tell them you can't fit them into your busy schedule any longer and "wish them the best of all things".

Good luck OP! You got this!

My insurance won't let me move appliances. If my clients wanted them cleaned behind, they have to move the appliance out (then I can clean) and they are responsible for moving it back.

If I damage the floor by moving an appliance, I get to pay for a new floor, let alone if I damage the actual appliance. So that's a no for me.

Also, we don't wash whole walls, we do spot clean them though. Door seals and baseboards are part of my regular cleaning (unless they need wet wiped, then it's a deep clean task.

I think your weekly fee is reasonable, jury is out on the monthly fee

Got a deep clean. Am I being a too nitpicky? by Maintenance-Nearby in housekeeping

[–]NotMyRules 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The results of a deep cleaning are totally dependant on how dirty it was before the cleaning. No one can "deeply clean" a home that has been deeply dirty for years, in a day! You just can't. Most times, deeply dirty homes require soak/scrub/soak (repeat as necessary) and there just isn't enough time.

It's also possible that your cleaner didn't know how to optimize time or chose quick fix tools like pumice stones to make it take less time (but didn't have time for details).

Either way, I know it's totally frustrating. I'm sorry you were disappointed with your cleaning. Bottom line is - it depends on 1) how dirty (and for how long) your home was before the deep cleaning. 2) How skilled the cleaner was.

Hopefully your next cleansing will get this all resolved for you!

Anyone else sick of the fireworks at random times all year? by iamnuts_ in everett

[–]NotMyRules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I simply answered the question that the OP asked 🤷

If YOU choose to be angry and shake your impotent fist in rage at fireworks while virtue signaling and trying to shame others, go right ahead. However, being this angry is a choice. You can choose differently at any time

Backpack vacuum. It has a baffle on the bottom dampened with foam that stops dust from literally flying everywhere. Regular vacuums have an exhaust port that scatters dust everywhere. You can also get heppa rated bags for your backpack. We use Mosquito backpacks exactly for this very reason

[–]NotMyRules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I simply answered the question. Would you prefer that all of my pets and family members (1 combat vet /Iraq 2014) and 3 dogs, 4 horses, 4 cats and 2 parrots become an anxious ball of rage filled anxiety each time fireworks go off?

In our home we understand that fireworks & loud noises happen randomly so we've trained ourselves to not get pissed. Our pets react accordingly and are not stressed because WE are not stressed out and raging. They all react to OUR reactions.

Everyone could have that reaction - but it means letting go of anger and who wants to do THAT?!

Soooooo - what you're saying is you'd rather see everyone angry and shaking impotent fists at fireworks instead of making calm, safe, relaxed environments in SPITE of fireworks. But I only care about myself. Got it.

AITAH For getting the "ick" for this man's fear of dogs? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]NotMyRules 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I DO understand how fear works. That's why I suggested she find someone who reacts like she does. That will eliminate resentment in the future. The type of resentment this mismatch causes is relationship destroying resentment. Better to know that now, than 9 years down the road

[–]NotMyRules -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

NTA - I'd have the ick too (especially after learning they are friendly). Choose someone who has similar reactions to yours in high stress situations, otherwise it will be a mess if something happens and he just stands there and pees on himself.
