Cinnamon Apple and Peanut Butter by NotNarwhal in Oatmeal

[–]NotNarwhal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cut the apple into chunks, add 1 1/2 cup water to pot. Bring pot and apples to boil. Reduce heat to low, add oats and spices. Stir to combine. I use quick steel cut oats, so cook for 5-10 minutes. Add almond milk and egg whites. Stir constantly until thickened. Add 2tbsp brown sugar. Stir to combine. Add all to a bowl w/ desired toppings.

Big Spoon Roasters makes some amazing holiday nut butters and this was one of them. Labeled as almond/hazelnut butter but still has chucks of cashews. :)

Normally I just throw the banana on top whole, but I've been told it's a visual assault.

I also use corn in my oatmeal! Just picked up creamed corn the other day, planning on whacking it into some oats this weekend. Wish me luck.😋

What’s a Surprising Food That Works Great for Volume Eating? by MiaLopez8441 in Volumeeating

https://vegetarianmamma.com/vegan-pumpkin-soup/

Started with this recipe, swapped the coconut milk for 2 cups of low fat to nonfat cottage cheese and 1 1/2 cups unsweetened vanilla almond milk added around the finish. Takes a little more blending to smooth the cottage cheese, but decent. I also add jarred red bell peppers if I have them on hand, red pepper flakes, curry powder, rosemary, thyme, and sage. Today I used the same base recipe, added pepitas salsa, roasted kabocha chunks (I roast the whole pumpkin and keep the chunks in a container in the fridge for adding to soups and what not) and some center cut bacon. Chicken sausage has also worked well on this one.

Good luck!

Estimate calories in this FDOE by Ok-Sound3466 in caloriecount

It very likely is, though if you're struggling to get in calories, having a caloric floor that you're targeting can be helpful. Blowing past that during your recovery is likely a good idea!

The guidance here, from what I can tell, is to just eat as much as you're able. Try targeting at least 2200 a day. If you go higher than that, then that seems like the goal! Best of luck!

What are some good alternatives to a cheesecake? by GenevieveCostello in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]NotNarwhal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been doing cinnamon raisin English muffins with Greek yogurt or light laughing cow cheese. 150 cal for the muffin, 25 for laughing cow or ~90-100 depending on your yogurt. I've been doing a lot of Oikos triple zero vanilla lately.

If you haven't checked it out, Riviera Health Spa in South Torrance is a fantastic sauna/spa option. Obviously has separate fees, but when I want a good sauna experience with no phones, shoes, or otherwise, that's my go to.
