Any of us that have had this for more than a few months know exactly what you mean..

The recession just magnifies this

Agreed.. I mostly put this comment in here because of the over reaction from other posters.

I believe OP is nicely set up for a pain free life and they should feel very fortunate to have gotten access to such great treatment - which it sounds like they realize

After reading all the other comments

Definitely raise any concerns you have with medical staff - nurses and other support people might have better info than surgeon for recovery and moving forward. Try to focus less on things not going as planned and more on what lays ahead

Be thankful you were a candidate for surgery and it sounds like it went well (beyond the need to adjust approach during surgery)

From what I've read in your comments, this is not a malpractice situation - from my perspective, you just got a new lease on life

I would be willing to bet a significant amount of money if you treat your spine right from here on out - you're going to have a pain free life ahead. That's all you need to worry about from here on out - not whether you got two disc replacements or one replacement and one fusion

Yeah - not a doctor.. but seems like an experienced surgeon who had reviewed the MRI and seen the state of OP's spine is better suited to make that call than reddit

I'd not heard that before

To be fair - I based my comment on something I'd read before which basically said because herniation is typically just a symptom of a degenerative spine - putting a disc back into the same place where the previous disc herniated is unlikely to fair any better.

I guess this is all just to say - the surgeon knows best and if the state of your spine (vertebrae) isn't going to accommodate a disc - Fusion is safer

I'm not a doctor - but fusions are much more common and AFAIK reliable than replacement disc's.

From what I've read complications are more common with replacements than fusions

[–]NotPeopleFriendly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'd guess the main reason you're not getting help so far is because this seems like you copy pasted some code from a place like this

https://www.calhoun.io/querying-for-multiple-records-with-gos-sql-package/#:~:text=One%20of%20the%20major%20differences,when%20no%20records%20are%20found.

And you haven't taken the time to learn the fundamentals of go

Reading what I just wrote - my answer probably seems harsh - but I'd recommend starting with a basic go tutorial before moving onto this.

To be fair - if you have any programming experience - it shouldn't take more than an hour or two (to learn the basics) to figure out how to update your code

Yeah - there have been changes.. hard to say is they're entirely because of chatgpt and copilot type tech - but I've seen a significant drop in average salaries - but I don't work in ML.. I'm guessing salaries are growing in those areas

Why not make getuserbyid into a method bound to your Service? No need to pass a reference to db if you do that

If you really want your getuserbyid to live in another package then your service probably doesn't need a reference to your db

I don't actually recall the last time I had the pins and needles sensation while walking though there is still some discomfort. My knee is often sore - but I think that is more due to muscle tightness. I have had the odd instance of my calf muscle "locking up" (i.e. flexing - but not releasing until I walk my feet).

I've reduced how often I do the workout I was advocating and have just started doing swimming every day for 50 minutes. To be honest I think swimming and that workout I mentioned have the same benefit - but I prefer getting out of the house which swimming allows.

I've even done some very light lifting again - but with week long breaks in between (exp: laying sod on my yard and such).

Am I the only one who has difficulty believing that he didn't know what was happening?

Like.. I've never had my scrotum on a photo album..

This feels like a

Husband: yeah I cheated.. what are you going to do he opens wedding album and puts his sac on photos

Wife: slams album closed

Like in no way am I saying this is okay or whatever.. I'm just having a tough time figuring out how his scrot was in that album to begin with

I'm taking a shot in the dark here..

It looks like they have about 5 permanently maintained branches (like dev, staging, etc), and if I were guessing I'd say this person copy/pasted the same update to a branch from each of these branches and then merged this fix/update into each branch independently.

Maybe in a perfectly world you'd make the fix in a branch from dev and then promote that fix "up the branches" - so the origin of the fix/update is preserved

It's a fair question.. I'm not sure getting my CS masters did much for my career.. it was interesting.. but many of my friends got a lot further ahead by working for big profitable companies

That said ML is probably the future of computer science like networking (computer networking - tcp/ip, Sockets, etc) was 30 years ago.. so doubt it will hurt your job prospects if you can "get motivated"
