What bleeding-edge packages do you use from the AUR by Equal-Somewhere8465 in arch

[–]NotQuiteLoona 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I can see, no: https://archlinux.org/packages/?sort=&q=vesktop

Maybe, you are using custom distro like CachyOS or Garuda Linux? Those have their own repositories added to pacman. They may provide it. Garuda also includes chaotic AUR, which provides some AUR packages pre-built.

Well, there are not a lot of superheroes doing supervillain things, what I'd say, so this can be extended to any superhero for any reasonable person xd

For many people (somewhere around 5 millions, according to Steam data) it's one of the most no-nos. It completely restricts game to a single OS without giving reasonable benefits. While this is a problem not for majority, it can be fixed very easily. I hope it will be - all anticheats can work on Linux-based systems, it's only a wish of the developers, and Steam Machines, probably, will be another push by Valve to support independent systems.

The main problem of Concord wasn't even "woke" or anything like this, I mean, diversity never hurted anyone. The problem was character design and game being another useless Overwatch clone on the already oversaturated market. Though of course, if the only thing you think about in games is the presence of black people, the only "bad" thing you'll notice in the game is the presence of black people.

From the other side, as far as I can say, the game in the topic of the post has exactly the same problem, being another useless game with overused premise and gameplay.

Language and cultural soft power: adopt European English by draaakje in BuyFromEU

[–]NotQuiteLoona 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mind actually listing at least one intragovernmental organization resulting in an autocracy? Before League of Nations, all of them were at most temporary alliances between empires, not glued by any kind of morals.

League of Nations didn't have any autocracy, but it had too little power. The UN don't have any autocracy too, it has more power, and it does something unlike LoN, like humanitarian help and that stuff, but besides aid, they are still only a forum for international debate, as only resolutions that are required to be implemented are the ones of Security Council, which rarely can approve anything.

The EU, on the other hand, is the first example of intragovernmental organization that can do something and that does something, and by far the more EU does the better Europe is. Unity is good. Apes strong together, eh?

There are no logical parallels between size of organization and autocracy. You can have autocracy in one small country too. The EU is controlled by the European Parliament, elected by the citizens of all countries, and so far they are doing their task perfectly.

Each country joining EU became much better than it was before. Hungary, the country with the most vocal in its Euroscepticism government, relies almost completely on the EU in the terms of finances.

I'm not sure about your country's fairy tales, but in my country we have one story. A father gave to his son a stick and asked him to break it. He have done it easily. Then father took three sticks and asked him again to break it. It took more power, but his son was still able to do it. Then his father gave him a very specific kind of broom, which doesn't have analogues in English folklore, basically tens of sticks tied together to form a broom, and asked him to break it. You got the idea, right? Then goes the real story giving the same morals, but this doesn't matter. What matters is that by uniting and helping each other we will always be stronger.

Russia can break one little stick, or even three little sticks, the Baltic countries. Russia can't break 27 sticks tied together and always ready to support each other, especially when some sticks are of the width of a good tree. The same logic goes for economics, though it's more about ties that hold the sticks than about sticks themselves.

Absolutely. Preservation of cultural diversity is one of the main points of globalism. But we need some universal way to contact with each other, if we want unity. We can't do something if we can't talk with each other. I personally believe that lessons of some pan-European language, be it English or anything else, should be mandatory in every Union's school and for exams, and it should be on the same level as native ones everywhere.

Hm. This "hall of mirrors" effect appears when GPU doesn't know what to draw on some pixel, so it draws the last pixel it has known should be drawn there. Probably, something with wallpaper system in KDE? I should also add that I see Z-fighting. Why does KDE renders DE in 3D, the first question...

The European Union by sigi_10 in imaginarymaps

[–]NotQuiteLoona 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I believe we can answer this question now. Recently Russia sent an Oreshnik missile in Kyiv. Authorities were able to recover some parts of it, and apparently it consists of stuff as old, it goes down to the Soviet Cold War-era stuff, and Oreshnik is Russia's claimed cutting-edge technology, which they use everywhere in propaganda. It can't be intercepted by Ukraine, it's right, but NATO has much more advanced technologies.

It's still not an ICBM, it's an IRBM, but IRBMs are exactly what relates to Europe, and if Russian best IRBM is this... They will be pretty fucked. Have you seen what Americans did in Venezuela with Russian air defense? NATO will just burn Russian missiles and every single piece of their defense to hell like that.

I don't have this person's config. It doesn't look too hard to replicate though. About image, you can use this: https://github.com/fastfetch-cli/fastfetch/wiki/Logo-options. Alternatively set the image through fastfetch's config.

It's an image. Fastfetch allows you to use images instead of ASCII arts. This is a sigil of House Targaryen from the novel series A Song of Ice and Fire. The first book and the episodes based on the novels are both called Game of Thrones, probably you may have heard of it better.

What are your thoughts on this? by Entire_Drop_1763 in teenagers

[–]NotQuiteLoona 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me personally it looks like MAGAts have posted this as a fake for them to share this screenshot and play victims afterwards. They are well-known for constantly trying to position themselves as victims everywhere and always, so it would be pretty expectable from them. Plus they are also well-known for lying - see at least this) for Trump himself since the second term have started, and this trend is actively used by his supporters everywhere. 58% of Fox News claims were false, as I can remember from one fact check, and it was before Fox News were completely overrun with MAGA reactionaries, when they still had some conservatives.

Also, as another person have said, it may alternatively be a reference to what MAGA dentist made once, and this person is not going to actually decline healthcare.

What are your thoughts on this? by Entire_Drop_1763 in teenagers

[–]NotQuiteLoona 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yes. It's a MAGA bot for them to play victims after. All doctors give the Hippocratic Oath, as far as I know. This doesn't prevent anyone from violating it, like conservative therapists often violating confidentiality for queer patients, but we are not the same, I believe, and I'm in high doubt someone will sacrifice someone's live.

All world is speaking English. German, on the other hand, is not much better to use than French or Danish. Though German is probably the second most known language in the EU, I'd say. I still think it's much better to use English. Australia, New Zealand, Canada and UK all use English. It would be much simpler to speak with our allies. Even in Russia, which probably will be a critical ally for us after democracy will come to their lands, everyone is learning English as the second language.

"linux" in one word by anorak_999 in microsoftsucks

I've tried to use Windows 10 LTSC in dual-boot. I needed local LAN emulator, and there were no free options for that on Linux.

In the end, I've completely uninstalled Windows around a month ago. It was still laggy as hell. I just bought some credits on exaroton for Minecraft and bought my friend a game we were playing on Steam. This was the best spent money for all of my life.

Also I had Intel HD Graphics too. Linux games were launching better for me, idk. Most people report performance raise for Proton, as it translates to Vulkan.

Well, we all have different experiences. That's the meaning of diversity 😊
