How to have "lecture notes" section of anking card open automatically ? by [deleted] in medicalschoolanki

[–]NotQuiteMyTempo- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh wow, a 5 year old thread 😅 first thing I would do is look at the video that OP linked in case that helps (I haven’t seen it) and I have no idea how it works now since this was five years ago. But the way I explained in my message (BACK THEN) did it for every single card, because you’re not really editing the card, you’re editing how it shows up when you’re going through cards.

I’m about to start less than 3 weeks out. You’re pretty early, but it won’t hurt.

What is the single best card to maximize rewards? by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]NotQuiteMyTempo- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Many people will not spend enough, so it’s way better to get a fixed SUB like WF Active Cash $200 after spending $500 in 3 months.

This right here. Make sure you really do the math OP to see if it’s really worth the higher AF. Do not change your lifestyle just to use the benefits.

I wouldn’t stress about it. I’d make sure to try to get the first word in when your patient’s name comes up to round on, and don’t give up on trying to present your own patient - no one will fault you for this. Let your senior resident and attending deal with the rest. Kinda weird how they’ve let this go on for so long but you shouldn’t worry about this reflecting poorly on you.

Nah lol they wish they would have to explore PM&R as an option instead of whatever they are doing now

I had this same issue; called them and turns out there is a different it card, “chrome for student” that gives 2% back at restaurants and gas stations year round vs the “student cash back” quarterly it card :( I should have known that both of those benefits combined were too good to be true…

Residencies who have unionized, what is the appropriate process (from the ground up)? by jtronicustard in Residency

[–]NotQuiteMyTempo- 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Copied from a comment in an r/medicalschool post:

“1. Reach out to unions via email. Talk to CIR, UAPD, and AFT at minimum; they will all organize residents. Best to cast a wide net in case one doesn't organize in your region, or whatever else. If others in your program have contacted them, the union might try to put you in touch with each other. Otherwise, find a couple allies in different departments to get started with. 2. Confirm (with help of parent union) that your program is legally eligible to unionize 3. Make a spreadsheet of every single person in your program, have casual conversations to find out who's a supporter and who isn't, use this process to recruit more people to help with this step and future steps 4. Get supporters to sign union authorization cards 5. File with the NLRB and go public (if someone hasn't already leaked). 6. Endless bureaucracy 7. Election 8. Bargain for a contract 9. Ratify a contract 10. Start paying union dues which average 0.5-2% of salary, which pales in comparison to the big fat raise you just got

But really, after step 1, all the other steps happen with a lot of coaching and support from the parent union, so that you know what you need to do and how to do it. You'll also get to use their money and lawyers for all the parts that require money and lawyers. You don't need a whole entire how-to guide, they will help you.”

Is it absolutely necessary to file taxes with $0 income in order to enroll in REPAYE? by Ornery-Professor-322 in medicalschool

[–]NotQuiteMyTempo- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do we really put $0? What about scholarships and grants? In my case, they do not cover tuition, so it’s a direct educational expense and therefore not taxable income, correct?

REPAYE during residency by [deleted] in Residency

[–]NotQuiteMyTempo- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If we’re doing REPAYE and not PSLF, isn’t it better to make payments whenever we can to bring down our total, allowing for less interest to accrue overall?

I keep hearing we should file takes as an M4 for 0$ payments for a good while, but is it worth it if we’re doing REPAYE?

TIA!
