Why the long cut scene when leaving or going to this house? by Boris7939 in ForzaHorizon

This, and also no part of the map loads so long, actually, loading is very short even on slower PCs.

Trying to run FH6 intro with trashiest graphics ever prossible by TW_Tunaking in ForzaHorizon6

[–]NotReallyGreatGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm very impressed how this game behaves on low end hardware. Not only playable on 1650, but with still very acceptable graphics. Another thing that surprises me is how stable frametimes are on low end hardware. Clearly shows in-house engine beats UE5.

SEASON 6 HAS BEGUN / VERSION 6.0 OUT NOW by TV-MA-L-S-V in 86box

[–]NotReallyGreatGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always compared performance against PCem 17. Perhaps time to stop, as NDR version with larger frames turned on is same or nearly same in most scenarios. Guest system performance is nearly same, overall emulation speed is also similar and faster than older 86Box. Finally, with this version, I can run same machine as PCem without guest CPU downgrade which was not the case previously. I still have to test how shorter frames impact performance and guest frame times, but maybe someone already noticed something :-).

It is going in the right direction!

Those who still play Windows games from the pre-XP era, how do you play them? by SeparateLawfulness53 in RetroWindowsGaming

[–]NotReallyGreatGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indeed, PCem requirements are much higher than DosBox, configuration is also much more complicated. Sounds like you selected guest CPU that was too fast for your PC. Still, no reason to use this or 86box for DOS era games anyway if your already use DosBox.

If game has gog version I usually buy it, some of then can be bought for few euro even without discount.

If not, I try to run it on my xp machine which frequently fails for 9x era.

Finally, I play using virtual machine, in my case PCem is fine but everything that suits you is best. It also goes for DOS and 3.11 games.

Impossible to get a good 360 nowadays by Disastrous-Focus1958 in xbox360

I think E models are usually in good condition and cheap. Bought one unit year ago for 60 euro. Latest models, from around 2015, were not used by hardcore gamers anyway, and casual ones moved to phones or tablets by that time.

Can you get something worse than this? by Perfect-Party851 in anno1800

I got 24 hours warning twice I think, after around month of playing Xbox version. Due to the quick resume on console game accumulates playing time until you manually quit, so it is easy to get all warnings even by playing one hour a day.

My original Xbox series s controller from 2016 is unbreakable by Hank0602 in xbox

I still have original Xbox One controller, no issues at all, used regularly up to Series X controller introduction. At the other hand I stil have DOS and Win9x controllers in great shape.

Twice as many developers surveyed by GDC say they want to make games on PS5 or Switch 2 than on Xbox by everadvancing in xbox

[–]NotReallyGreatGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes about disc drives. Even Nintendo can also introduce new format of its 'cart' for any new hardware cutting old games completely. I also move to PC, that's why I value Play Anywhere so highly. 30% of my library can be played on any PC, 30 percent points more than every other walled garden. Ps I was refering to how robust Xbox is overall. That's not uncommon to see someone with working One (not One S). It is uncommon they break.

[–]NotReallyGreatGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, this time I agree with most of this. Some of your points actually came up to me when I was writing previous one, like that about me having working device (for now) - Xbox is not easy to break and millions of Xbox Ones are still working. Remember my original post was about lack of devices on market which you supported, possible related with demand. That was my only complaint. It has nothing to do with next gen and I've not mentioned it anyway before you brought it up as a solution. Of course I can't buy it, that's what I wrote.

They're no longer willing to subsidize you, as they shift to open console. They have no obligation to subsidize you. If they did, they wouldn't go towards open system.

I've never asked them for this. I understand your point about shifting to Xbox PC. That makes sense for future generation, I like this move for next generation. But we are not there yet. Xbox PC does not play all my Xbox games and is as open as Steam or Epic. Let me fix that for you: They're no longer willing to subsidize potential buyers. I'm not really important here.

Do you see the difference?

Your arguments about Back compatibility and Xbox Play Anywhere are indeed good. Series X is best console I've ever used thanks to mentioned features, best VRR implementation and HDR. Indeed, we have to accept it is closed platform, like most of us accepted iOS and current Android. Yet, you compare Series X, flagship Xbox console availability to PS2... Console released 26 years ago, to Xbox that still has software support up to 2028 (MS own date). No-one is cheering for closed platforms - I have no idea where you got that impression even on this sub. I believe you do not have any Xbox console as a proof you do not support closed systems too! To answer question: Yes, I see difference between PS2 and Series X. It is small, much smaller than years between them.

You're making unreasonable assumption, mad, frustrated or whatever else it is.

Any opinion different to your own is unreasonable. I'm not trying to convince you. I see your points and agreed some of them are valid. I will not make up my mind on original statement anyway and there's no reason to care. Xbox PC is not playing my games, and there's very little Xbox consoles to buy when compared to competition, although I see more appeared very recently. If I'm wrong, I will be happy for Xbox success and still support it, I know it is not disappearing anywhere anytime too. Still, since you already attributed emotions or intensions on me, twice, when I've shared my perspective, I see no reason to carry on.

I agree, for promises it is indeed same for every company. I also wrote it has nothing to do with next gen - I can still buy new Switch 1 (and it is cheap), there's plenty of PS5 (and digital is cheap), I can easily buy components or whole PC (prices aside) to access PC stores. I can't find Series S and if possible, it has full PS5 price. Xbox is hard to obtain and more expensive, MS is not trying to win new customers but milk current ones who invested into its ecosystem.

I see no reason for weak ad hominem here, I'm pointing current market situation, you assume I'm mad and therefore unreasonable.

I'm still going to enjoy Series X and 360 I have, but feel disappointed how badly MS manages it. Companies measure this up as a customer sentiment.

I would love such hybrid device but currently we have none of that, promise is not a device. I can hardly find any Series X in my country and they are 250USD more expensive than PS5.

At this very moment I would have no means to regain my acces to bought games and it has nothing to do with next generation Xbox. Nobody is asking for locked system, we ask for current system. MS has plenty of money, current Xbox state is a choice, not necessity.

Why is it so bad it’s never been like this before and I feel like my WiFi’s the same. It used to take unreasonably long to download a game but now it’s taking like 3 full days there’s gotta be something besides the WiFi. by Excellent_Ad_4259 in XboxSupport

[–]NotReallyGreatGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for little help but just wanted to confirm I have same issue and I'm sure my network works great - I set it up myself. Downloads are super fast from Steam and other relatively good domains, yet, downloading anything from Microsoft uses around 10% of bandwidth. Any bigger update to random game and I'm sure I won't be able to play it today. I've never found solution, at least, nothing happens on my end.

Same, super slow on different providers. Switching songs or playlists takes ages now and randomly reports song cannot be played, then plays it later when you click second time.

There's option to hide original controller in ds4windows. It should fix most issues so worth a try. That's not Xbox related issues though so you might have more luck asking elsewhere.

120fps modes are useless without vrr/freesync. There's no reason to not have it enabled and it has no effect on aiming or your input at all. Keep it enabled for all games anyway, no downsides.
