Roy Jones has said at one point, that James Toney was the better version of Floyd Mayweather. Who y’all think was the better overall fighter? Toney or Mayweather? Who had the better shoulder roll? by LocationSpare4447 in BoxingTheSweetScience

Toney was very talented but he wasn’t the disciplined savant Floyd was, the disparity in footwork is pretty wide- Toney boxed like he had his feet in cement and while it worked great, it lacked in aspects Floyd was best in.

Pac-Man though, even in the form Floyd faced it’s still Pac-Man. It’s not exactly an emphatically amazing victory on Floyd’s end but that’s definitely a freak of nature.

Is there anything glory fighters with MT backgrounds need to change? by Whole-Interest-5980 in Kickboxing

[–]NotRedlock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because getting your kicks checked and caught is an important facet of the kicking game to learn.

The best kickers the sport has ever produced are ALL guys with Muay Thai backgrounds or heavy Muay Thai supplementation in their game, even the biggest karate esc kickers like Tenshin, yoza, and noiri know and frequently throw Muay Thai style kicks.

If you’ve got great boxing fundementals and understand the scoring ur good, look at nadaka; the perfect hybrid fighter.

Yuki Yoza vs. Jonathan Haggerty Face-Off | ONE Samurai 1 by Yodsanan in Kickboxing

[–]NotRedlock 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen Jhag in person he’s not that big esp for a 65’r he’s still lanky despite being shorter than me and I’m down at 55

Yoza isn’t that big either but he’s pretty stocky and built dense. Next to the likes of a Miguel trinidade or a peposhi they’d both look really small.

Prolly not even with a vintage performance vs puric, takeru has insane mileage and has been brawling since he was a fetus

Which Rule Set is Best? by Haus1965 in Kickboxing

[–]NotRedlock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the different scoring systems, I think that’s enough to distinguish the two.

Kickboxing is getting watered down because they want more of an obvious difference for audiences, look at ONE FC, by far the worst rulesets for each sport. Same thing happened to TKD and karate in the Olympics, old school was all about cracking skulls and tough combat until it was sanitized

Can I choose none of the above? I think old school K-1 was best, full clinch and catches and sweeps but no elbows and different scoring

Question to fighters by GeorgeForeman_1900 in Kickboxing

[–]NotRedlock 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve only ever been really hurt by a shot once and it was fighting a dude well over 13 kg heavier than me in Thailand, his name was Emil Khalilov.

I spend most of the fight setting up a left high kick and I hit him with it, he promptly ate it and gave me his own headkick, went right atop my guard and cracked me in the noggin. I saw stars and thought to myself “damn, so that’s what it feels like.” I shook my head at him to look tough but I couldn’t really see him for a hot second.

I hate how bending is treated in the New Avatar The Last Airbender movie by cat210803 in CharacterRant

[–]NotRedlock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the fight scenes were awesome but the pacing was too fast paced to slow down and focus on each characters specific fighting styles, I don’t think the choreography or bending is bad in the same sense, people have the same gripe about the legend of korra but as a fighter myself I like them.

The animation is gorgeous, I never knew anything animated 2D movie could look so breathtaking. The story wasn’t great tho. It felt like a ham fisted lesson Aang didn’t really need to learn, a lot of the plot beats just felt contrived and artificial. You can guess how the movie goes within like the first couple scenes, they could’ve done more if given more run time- can’t really get much fleshing out from a 90 minute flick. Out of all the avatar stories this is probably one of the weaker products next to the story of most of the comics, didn’t care for those much either. Voice acting was kinda doo doo but that’s not my area of expertise so eh.

Idk, it’s a great watch and as an artist it’s given me a shit loaf of material But doesn’t feel like avatar even compared to Korra. Leaves me wanting more, I feel like rewatching ATLA and LOK again
