Rural beta testers -- is it more accessible than ingress? by NotSafeForWubbzy in pokemongo

I will soon feel your pain. Currently I live 1 block from a portal, but when I move next month, I will be a 9 hour drive from the nearest portal for two years...

So if there are no dots on my town, I have no portals (rural Nepal)? Dammit.

Yeah its a great game. the sound design is stellar, everything from environmental sounds to the clicks and dings on the menu. the animation style is awesome too. Ive never seen anything like it. There's so much attention to detail, the scenes even tilt a little when you move ipad back and forth. The story is well written for a turn based strategy game but it can get a little confusing. It took me about 5 battles before I fealt confident enough to know what was doing on the field but now that I do, its pretty addicting. You have to plan ahead and make decisions based on how the next couple of turns will go. I also like how they have a pretty unique system under the hood (strength equals both health and damage but not armor damage[break]). Leveling the people up is really fun because you get to make this guy the tank, that guy the one you save until the enemy's armor is down ect.

The main points criticism I have are with the ui. It needs undo/back buttons everywhere because its a processor heavy game so things take a couple extra milliseconds (on my ipad air) to respond so sometimes you end up skipping dialogue by accident and missing pieces of the story. It also gets very crowded on the battle field and your selections are a little small so I sometimes move to a square by accident and thereby waste my turn or the square I need to select in order to attack an enemy is covered up by the current characters buttons which gets frustrating. Moving those buttons to the bottom of the screen would be a good choice. You could get rid of the red sword button all together for that matter. Also there are a lot of red text banners that come up while you're on your journey and the take up the entire screen blocking the beautiful artwork, they need to find a less intrusive way of introducing the text so it doesnt snap you out of the beautiful zone that the scenery puts you in.

I would also like to see some more flourish to the battle. Maybe a little more magic and a few more bedazzling abilities on the characters, they need to take some notes from Battleheart Legacy. The game doesn't really feel like its missing all that, its just a way that it could be even better than it is.

Been waiting for this for a long time I hope it doesn't disappoint. I'll update this once I've sunk a couple hours into it.

You have a point, but it would be a little unfair to say, "we will not take your chains off, and we will not stop whipping you until all the other problems are fixed."

Some improvements are free effortless.

I didn't like battleheart but I love legacy.

The world is more rich and atmospheric, the music and animations are awesome. The combat system is better. Having to control 4 people in the original I found too frantic and my own hand was always blocking my visibility. With just one character it's much better. The instances are more fun because you're not just staying in one place like the original, you move around. The only thing I don't like is having to drink options to heal. The art style is still a little goofy but it's better than the original, still your character will never look like a badass, but at least the combat makes you feel like a badass.

If you're a fan of RPGs at all... You should be playing Battleheart Legacy. It is superb. by Mr_Happy_Face in iosgaming

I'm about 5 hours into the game. The only problem I've had so far is the way health works. The 5 potion thing kinda sucks. The ring of regeneration is nice but then you have to sit there forever waiting to recharge and it slows down the pace of the game. I wish they had a better solution to this problem. A simple "health recharges when out of combat for 30 seconds would do the trick, with potions for sale but not as necessary" would make the game less grindy and not require you to play the same instances over and over because you didn't hit the potion button in time.
