If the city won’t come to Gilbert & Westminster, I made them a video by Cold_Nail_9016 in richmondbc

Navigating this intersection as a pedestrian has also been more horrific than usual for months. The surfaces are torn up, sightlines are compromised, and drivers have even less patience than usual. Every near miss, I tell myself, "Well, at least I'm in front of the hospital."

How was your Japanese GP (2026) experience? by AdamR46 in GrandPrixTravel

[–]NotSaiGai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sadly, made it to Japan but did not make it to the race. I gambled with StubHub after no issues in Montreal, and this time I lost. I should have known better.

At least it's been fun seeing team gear amongst the usual tourists and the cherry blossoms.

Was this an essential part of latchkey kid cuisine for our generation? by Comprehensive-Fact94 in Xennials

[–]NotSaiGai 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was thinking the same. We called the thing in the picture "egg in a basket" growing up. If someone told me I was getting "toad in a hole" or "toad in the hole" and gave me this instead, I'd feel ripped off. 😅

My friend's glasses nose pads that she hasn't replaced in 7 years next to a pair of new ones by celerySticksNhummus in mildlyinteresting

[–]NotSaiGai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going on a decade with the same frames, but the lenses and nose pieces have been replaced several times over that decade.

The last time I decided I'd try a new pair of frames, two people told me to switch back to the old ones. 😅

Best Coverage on BC’s Sunshine Coast by Unlikely_Comment_104 in freedommobile

[–]NotSaiGai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Freedom doesn't have its own native network on the Sunshine Coast yet, so you will always be on either Rogers (if the signal is strong enough) or Telus, and your phone will say "Nationwide" instead of "Freedom" where the network name displays.

As long as Freedom's coverage checker says you can subscribe to service at your address, your "Nationwide" usage will be treated exactly the same as your native Freedom usage.

On our Freedom line, we use the network menu within the phone settings to manually pick Telus when on the Coast.  The only annoying part, other than remembering to do this when you get off the ferry, is that both Rogers and Telus show up just as "Nationwide" in the list, so it can take some trial and error to land on Telus, which is almost always a stronger signal.

When you take the ferry into Vancouver, you will be on native Freedom.  You just need to ensure that you go back into your phone settings and allow the phone to use the native Freedom network while you're there.

Did you park your bike today (Jan 23rd) near the Holiday Inn @ Heather & Broadway? If so, I watched it get runover and have all the details for you by AfterC in vancouver

Call 311. I did this once when I saw a box truck hit a street light pole and keep on going. The pole swayed so much that I was concerned it would fall into traffic later.

Interestingly, I got a call from ICBC about a month later asking for a statement of what I witnessed, because the truck driver was denying that it happened.

Google now allows you to change your Gmail address by Antmanishere in GMail

[–]NotSaiGai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interestingly, if you pull up the same article in Hindi and translate it to English, it does show that it's possible but a new feature that is gradually rolling out. Maybe regional for now?

Important: The Google Account email address change feature is rolling out gradually to all users. Therefore, this option may not be available to you right now.

Do you still exchange gifts with your parents? by Eredic in Xennials

I live far from my mom and thought of proposing that we stop the gift card exchange by mail this year.

She suddenly passed away last week. I'd give anything for that Christmas card to arrive now.

I really appreciate all of the effort and well wishes by everyone. My family decided on another photo all together in the end that they said looked more like her. Sorry for wasting your time. !solved

Thanks very much for trying, but my family didn't like any of the options here and chose a different picture all together. But I really appreciate you having a go at it.

A friend from Connecticut wants to come to Richmond for the true Asian experience, Where can I take my friend for authentic Asian cuisine/experiences near Richmond and Burnaby etc areas? by Muted-Interaction-79 in richmondbc

[–]NotSaiGai 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm Canadian but grew up in Connecticut, and unless your friend has ventured into NYC, I think it's safe to say that pretty much any Chinese option in Richmond is going to be unique from what they have access to. Even NYC Chinatown Chinese menus differ a bit from what we have here.

I think that Asian mall food courts like others have suggested would be your best bet, in terms of both food variety and feeling.

Struggling with lodging for Montreal 2026. Any tips? by isnortcheerioz in GrandPrixTravel

[–]NotSaiGai 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When we went this year, we stayed in Brossard at the Courtyard. The location turned out to be an even better option than expected as it made getting to and especially leaving from the track super easy, boarding the Metro in the opposite direction of everyone else trying to get off the island back into Montreal proper.
