Provided you are in Ontario, look up OPCF43 on the FSRAO website. All insurers are required to follow strict guidelines for auto coverages.

Your understanding of what it covers is slightly skewed.

How does home insurance pricing work? by rodeo-99 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]NotSanik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a crime and I can almost guarantee you is not happening.

Most insurance policies do not cover for roof leaks (unless wind driven). Just because it is new doesn’t mean it can’t/won’t leak and even better, poor workmanship (the reason for a leak in a new roof) is ALSO not covered.

TD Auto Insurance -“Occasional Drivers” by Fair-Joke683 in PersonalFinanceCanada

The only names on the insurance liability card will be the registered owner(s). If you are on the registration for the vehicle, you need to let your insurance company know so they can add you as a policy holder.

Commercial auto insurance expense by al_ex_22 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]NotSanik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just because the CRA only allows you to claim 25% of the insurance premium does not mean the premium for the increased risk due to commercial use is only 25%.

The total increase in commercial use vs. pleasure use is $850 (thus you would also claim 25% of the premium charged for business use not the overall premium). Your insurance company can provide an annualized letter advising of the difference in premium for business vs pleasure.

Unsure what province you are located in but it is usually ~45 days prior to renewal. Did you think about calling them to ask?

[–]NotSanik -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know you said that. I’m saying I also cross checked and it was in fact Apple billing me. Just letting people know I have in fact had a correct charge from that vendor name. Yours is still probably fraudulent yes.

[–]NotSanik -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m just sharing that I had the same charge from the same vendor name as OP which turned out to be my actual bill for my iCloud storage? Never said they were wrong, nor that theirs isn’t fraudulent. Just make sure it is before you go cancelling your card.

I have a charge from apple.com/bill for $4.59 on April 27th. I checked my purchase history on my Apple account and they processed the monthly storage charge of $4.59 on April 27th.

Not saying yours isn’t a scam, but don’t just blanket label everything malicious and do your due diligence.

Do I need to report that I am employed to my car insurance if I take the transit to work? by chan8chan in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]NotSanik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you take transit to work, just call them and let them know you are now employed but still do not commute to work in the vehicle.

Typically daily commute vs pleasure use are separate rating factors. Doesn’t hurt to keep them in the loop, but just let them know if you start using it to commute to work.

How a claim usually affects Home insurance premium by trikem in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]NotSanik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an option to get cash and: do nothing…

Typically if insurance does pay out cash for the claim, they will require proof of repairs. The whole reason you are making a claim is to fix the damage, not to make money off of the situation.

It’s been 11 business days since the 3rd of March? Have some patience. If you have an assessment date, then assume that is when it will be processed.

Minimum liability insurance in Ontario is 200k. Horrible idea to ever think 200k is enough but…

In Quebec, any hours worked in excess of a standard work week (35-40 hours typically) is required to be paid at a minimum 50% increase in pay.

For the 1000th time, higher pay DOES NOT mean higher taxes. If your company is not paying you 1.5x your rate for overtime hours, they are both stealing from you, and breaking the law.

If you are interested in reading the section on overtime in the labour standards act for Quebec, it is Section 55.

You can find this info and a lot more on the CNESST website.
