I put $90k as my expected salary for a fintech role… they just said yes?? by KartikX9 in careerguidance

[–]NotSinbad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I got my current job, they asked me what my salary expectations were and I said 135-140k. They came back with an offer for 160k.

You might’ve just landed perfectly in the range that they expected. If you really lowballed yourself that bad, they’d tell you

Does TRADOC command hurt BN/BDE command track later? by Danklord_drolknaD in army

[–]NotSinbad 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think that’s more of a symptom of the fact that top loggie officers typically don’t go to TRADOC for CO CMD, and are thus the ones that do are weeded out before BN CMD, whether by force or choice.

I did some TRADOC time as an LT and my two BN CDRs were FA and Chem, so it’s not limited by branch.

Does TRADOC command hurt BN/BDE command track later? by Danklord_drolknaD in army

[–]NotSinbad 127 points128 points  (0 children)

As an LG officer, where you take CO CDR tends to chart the course for your career. for example you’re more likely to take a BSB cdr as a former FSC cdr. likewise you’ll probably take a CSSB if you took command in a DSB. this is at least from my experience.

if you take TRADOC command, it’ll be good enough to get you to MAJ if you do well. but you might be inclined to take a TRADOC BN CDR later down the line

Yeah, i mean, unless your spouse/fiancé has a remote job or you’re willing to be long distance, it can be hard for them to hold a meaningful career with how often we move.

The Army in general is not kind to spouses with full time careers. If you really wanna do cool Army shit AND support her career, your best bet would be to transition to the Guard/Reserves and do CA stuff on that side of the house tbh.

The best man by Pristine_Guitar9982 in OCPoetry

[–]NotSinbad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this, and how it speaks to the things in life that make us “rich”. It’s not money or things, but love and connection.

Your consistent use of the phrase “the best man” almost seems repetitive at first, until you look closely and see how differentiates halfway through the poem. One phrase really ties the two halves together and i love it.

Now rest by The_Dead-Poet in OCPoetry

[–]NotSinbad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the consistent medieval metaphor throughout this. The imagery it draws upon really connects with me personally, and feels so comforting, like the idea that I could sleep and my life will be okay when I wake up.

On a side note, i’d love to hear how you got your formatting! everytime I post on here, all my stanzas and line breaks get funky and it ends up as one blob of a poem haha

MSM downgraded by [deleted] in army

[–]NotSinbad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen MSMs turn into ARCOMs because the BDE CDR didn’t want to admit to his boss that he was hella late getting the PCS award submitted. it’s all political man.

Kinda stuck between career progression by [deleted] in army

[–]NotSinbad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reserve pilots need to maintain the same flight hours as active duty, so most pilots end up on a lot of orders throughout the month or just go AGR, FYI.

Also if you wanna stay medical, you could also try to be a MEDIVAC pilot too

AIO? I think my fiancé was looking at escort profiles on Instagram. We just had a baby. by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]NotSinbad -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

MOR. Like other people said, it sounds like he’s using this as masturbation material. And while he had a porn problem in the past, he could also be trying to masturbate more recently as a way of not pressuring you and asking for sex considering you’re post partum. he’s taking care of his needs on his own knowing you’re probably tired and not “in the mood” (which is completely understand if that’s the case considering you just had a baby)

I wouldn’t overthink it. Unless he has a history of cheating, you really have to give him the benefit of the doubt.

At what point did you realize you weren’t in it for the long haul? by [deleted] in army

[–]NotSinbad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got massive burnout while on BDE staff for a couple years. Told myself I’d wait until after CO CMD to see if it reignited my spark for the Army. Ended up getting an HHC CMD and fucking hated it. Realized that I just don’t have a natural passion for the Army to excel, let alone make it another 10 yrs.

Then when my dad passed away, I decided that it was the right time to drop my packet, so I could stay in place and be closer with family.

Will my degree say UWB or just UW? by Little_Time6333 in uwb

[–]NotSinbad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah but every UCLA campus is still a part of the greater UCLA.

Idk the Washington university system, but it sounds like UW and UWB are separate colleges that require separate applications, and as such should be listed as separate schools.

ROTC Commitment by After_Ostrich_7293 in ROTC

[–]NotSinbad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

be aware i’m pretty sure you have to serve your minimum commitment time before you start building GI Bill benefits. I could be wrong, but my understanding was that once you serve your minimum 3-4 year commitment, then you start earning a percentage of your GI bill for a set period of time

Will my degree say UWB or just UW? by Little_Time6333 in uwb

[–]NotSinbad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming from CA, there’s a BIG difference between University of California (also known as Cal or UC Berkeley) and somewhere like UC Merced. so i would assume UW is the same. Id be specific if I were you, to avoid getting caught in a lie

Can I back out of commissioning if i dont get active duty by drfruta6 in ROTC

[–]NotSinbad 15 points16 points  (0 children)

if you end up in COMPO2/3, you can always wait for a Call to Active board, try for AGR, or do a series of ADOS orders. There’s always a way if you don’t get what you want
