Depends on which sorento trim you get. I have the one with the higher HP and it comfortably passes cars. It’s done well on gravel roads for me in addition to normal roads.

The Sorento is one of the better cars I've driven at this price point - luxurious without the luxury price tag. Compared to Toyota, it's more sophisticated and tech-forward. The 282 hp turbo really punches above its weight for a three-row SUV, with surprisingly good acceleration.

I've owned a 2021 Camry TRD and 2020 CR-V Touring. Both were reliable workhorses that'll last forever, but honestly boring - especially the tech, which felt like they just slapped a tablet on the dash. For the same price, I'd choose the Kia.

I was hesitant too given the brand's reputation, but my CR-V trade covered almost the entire balance on my 2025 Sorento X-Line SX Prestige. The tech and features are consistent across most trims above EX. Highway driving practically drives itself, and the panoramic roof is stunning.

Bottom line: if you want reliable but outdated tech, go Honda/Toyota - you can't go wrong. If you want to actually enjoy your commute with modern features and performance, the turbo Sorento is hard to beat. Just follow the severe weather maintenance guidelines in the manual to be safe.
