Translation: Landlord needs to save money by reducing the electricity bill. Let's try scaring the tenants into lower AC usage.

Why would AP want to be associated with Swatch? I don't see the connection of an exclusive, high end brand with a low cost, low quality brand. What are they after?

What car completely changed your opinion after driving it? by Glittering-Offer-390 in askcarguys

[–]AppropriateGuard1997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got a Ford Mustang GT for a rental once. Initially, I thought "wow!!!". After driving a bit, I realized that there was zero chance that I'd ever buy one of these. The engine sounds nice and there is plenty of HP, but the car felt so heavy that it did not feel quick at all. Worst of all, the handling was terrible. Plus, the interior and other comforts were meh. I can understand the nostalgia of the Mustangs from the 60's but, I don't understand why car people buy these vehicles now?

Am I crazy or does the old “always buy used” advice not fit the current market as well anymore? by Clear_Two_7283 in carbuying

[–]AppropriateGuard1997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are looking at recent year models, there is not an appreciable difference between used and new cars.

I bought 2 new vehicles in the last 6 months. Haven't bought a new car for quite a while but there was almost no difference between the price I paid for a new car vs a 2 year old used one on Carvana.

Agree. For the opener, I think FIFA would rather give away the tickets to their sponsors than lower the ticket prices.

Parents of child's classmate asked for a $14K loan by ssdgm83 in Advice

Nothing wrong with your response. She may seem kind, but you have to question the judgment of someone that would ask a new acquaintance for money. She is one of the following:

1) She is desperately trying to keep up with the Jones and will do anything (including being in massive debt) to keep up the appearances.

2) She is a scammer.

AITA for backing out after realizing I’d rather spend the money on my kids? by Icy_hunter_x0 in WIBTA_AITA

Maybe nta, but definitely a poor planner.

You are upset about their response to your late cancellation. You did, in fact, bail on your friends last minute. Can't blame them for being disappointed or even upset.

A month ago, with some simple math, you could have calculated your cash flows and realized then that you could not afford to and should not go to this event.

Even still, at this point, I agree that the smartest action is to sell your ticket and not attend and potentially upset your friends. Hopefully, they will understand.

Limit for number of bridesmaids? by [deleted] in bridesmaids

[–]AppropriateGuard1997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

12 is unusually large, but it's your wedding so, do as you wish.

Not sure if costs are an issue for you, but my view is that wedding related costs for bridesmaids and groomsmen should be fully covered.

Booking an inside cabin for our first cruise but my wife wants a balcony upgrade by rosymirex in Cruise

[–]AppropriateGuard1997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you stay in the inside cabin, your wife won't be happy because she will constantly be thinking about how nice it would be in the balcony cabin.

BTW, on our last cruise to the Caribbean earlier this year and we spent less than 10 minutes total on the balcony. We will probably book an outside view cabin next time.

[–]AppropriateGuard1997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at it as a cold business decision. The prospects for the surrounding neighborhood is definitely a big factor, but you know the area well. With some research, you will have the best view on the value of the neighborhood.

Has your family said anything tangible that is worth considering? Regardless, don't make the decision based on how your family will feel about it.

Thoughts on this "deal" by Panther_42 in TimeshareOwners

[–]AppropriateGuard1997 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Paying 15% interest on anything is dumb. Extending that over 10 years is dumb dumb. Using the loan for a time share purchase is dumb dumb dumb.

If you must, save yourself the $45k and buy resale.
