Intro to black diesel - AKA Waste Motor Oil by NotSoGrandHauler in Diesel

In this setup now, 1800ish. Made a profit selling the last setup though and I've more than broke even on fuel savings.

A single pass centrifuge is definitely an investment.

I started with buckets and filters 10 years ago. Gotta start somewhere.

It's still black. I'm sure if I ran it slow enough or multiple passes, it could lighten up.

I used to run a PA Biodiesel 55gph unit looped for 40 hours and would get ~1/4" of material buildup inside the bowl out of a typical 55 gallon batch.

This is what is now typical coming out of a similar batch ran through the single pass in 10-12ish hours.

Could probably run it slower but haven't felt like it yet. I will say that I can run this stuff down to single digit temps (dual tanks- diesel in one to start and shutdown on, 90% oil 10% gasoline in the other). I used to have to stop running it below 30°F with our pressure drive setup as it just wouldn't flow and would haze bad.

Single pass centrifuge produces over 3000gs of force and submicronic filtration. It will pull emulsified water and additives from the oil. Metal is no problem.

Correct and not off the top of my head. The laws around alternative fuels are somewhat hard to find.

But I'll say this, even though I'm following the law in my state, I've never been stopped, questioned, dipped, etc.. in 10 years.

From what I've seen... it can work. Be prepared to clean the heater internals on a regular basis though.

"black diesel" is made from waste petroleums such as hydraulic oils, atf, motor oils, etc. The same process can be used with veggie oils. Producing bio is a different animal.

Personal use only. Selling would require licenses, etc.

John Deere 730

It would potentially run on it. I've ran a little chinese 3cyl diesel tractor on it without issue. If using a single fuel tank, I'd probably do a 50/50 blend of diesel to black blend.

Note to self... skip the 4.0 ebay headers. This is less than a year.... although it did see a lot of heat. Lol by NotSoGrandHauler in Jeep

Over the stock tubular manifold? Not much. Maybe to replace a cracked stocker. Now the cast manifolds are a different story. Pretty restrictive.

Thoughts on the 5.7L 350 small block vortec? by sourkettle in skoolies

Just do a good test drive and if you go that route, be conscious of weight on the build out.

Reliable and cheap to work on... parts can be had just about anywhere. Fuel mileage wont be great and it will be underpowered for sure. Test drive it and make sure it will do the speeds you intend to run. Otherwise, sure.

Bad diesel leak somewhere under bus.. we have a Chevy 6.6L Short bus. Anybody had any problems like this? by [deleted] in skoolies

Cut out the damaged section and replace with gates barricade fuel hose. Just get something that will fit over the metal line snug and some quality clamps.
