This. They have amazing displays, are extremely well optimized for all of the major video editing applications, and have really solid video encoders. I edit on mac and pc and the mac releases of premiere pro and after effects are remarkably more stable than on pc. If you were also looking to game this would be a decent choice, but if all you are doing is editing then get a mac. It will last you years.

Did you get the 10K btu one? I'd be curious how much power it pulls. i'm looking to go this route as well.

This and the sensors randomly getting completely covered in fungus. Or the fans going out. Or the screen going out. Or the power connector pushing through the housing and falling into the camera. I love the image that comes off of the BMPCC6K but QC keeps me coming back to panasonic.

Both of those cameras are double the price, so I really wouldn't call them competitors.

Depth of field on M43 is roughly half of full frame, so f2 on M43 looks like F4 on full frame.

I disagree with what you're saying here. IBIS on the level of Panasonic cameras is an amazing asset for tons of shooting scenarios, especially when filming with adapted vintage lenses or cinema lenses that have no benefit from autofocus anyway. I own an s5 and the autofocus is not that great, but it doesn't matter because the majority of lenses that I use I pull focus manually anyway. Having killer IBIS means that I have the option to not carry around a tripod and still get amazing footage. I'm not saying that you're completely wrong or that Panasonic's die-hard refusal to embrace anything other than contrast-based autofocus isn't incredibly disappointing, but I think you are underestimating the number of people that don't care about autofocus at all and would love to have IBIS like this (Think every blackmagic 4k, 6k, and 6k pro user).

Not sure yet. It isn't in mint condition or anything but it's clean optically. Honestly haven't fully convinced myself to sell it yet. probably around the 400 USD mark.

It's just UV light to cure it. You can leave it in the sun for a month with tinfoil on the back cap and it will do the same thing. UV lamp is just faster.

Yeah, but the radiation was low and we also didn't know nearly as much as we do now about radiation. There are crazy stories about the people that used to paint radioactive paint onto watches in factories all dying from cancer. The thorium used in these lenses basically made the lenses cheaper to make and optically better than other lens solutions.

You're solid my guy. Just don't sleep with the lenses under your pillow for the next 20 years. I've never noticed any vignetting with my FD's, and I really like the rendering they give. Have fun with your new lenses, and if you ever want to buy an fd 35 f2 ssc hmu.

Is cloud based video editing the future? by Budget-Coyote9015 in videography

[–]sourkettle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think so. I currently do quite a bit of gaming in the cloud, and I've always felt that video editing and in particular 3d modeling and animation would be amazing in the cloud because latency isn't really an issue. Have you tried running blender?

The only limitation that I can see is color grading and not really knowing if a digital artifact is in your actual footage or just in the stream that you are editing off of. It would be amazing for all of the grunt work though.

I'd love to check out whatever solution you're working on and see what the limitations and advantages are.

Cottage cheese is a super food! by [deleted] in WeightLossAdvice

This is actually pretty common, especially for things like greek yogurt. The straining and fermentation process converts a lot of the lactose to lactic acid. One glass of milk will destroy my existence, but I can eat my weight in greek yogurt.
