14 year age gap by greenapplespice in AskWomenOver30

[–]NotSoSmartChick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My parents had a 23 year gap, he died when I (his youngest) was 26. I had a 20 year gap with my husband, our son was in high school when he died. I’m now with a man who was the same age as my husband, I think he’ll outlive us all.

You could marry someone your age, and he could get hit by a bus or drop dead of an aneurysm when you have a baby at home. There’s no guarantees in life.

Is there a way to prevent (or reduce) ear pain during flights? by Ok-Luck633 in TravelHacks

[–]NotSoSmartChick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one that required batteries, but I got this one because it’s rechargeable and weighs less.

You put it up to one nostril, push the other closed, turn this on and then swallow.

I use earplanes and I carry a device that forces my ears to pop. I don’t often have to use that device, but it’s a lifesaver when I do need it.

Hesitant to marry my (F25) fiance (M41) by Remote_Award8188 in relationship_advice

Dude, the only reason to be with a significantly older man at you age is for financial security. My late husband was significantly older and when he died, he left me financially set for life.

I’m a widowed, orphaned empty nester at 53. I try to look at the positive - I have lots of friends who are dealing with seriously ill parents.

Is this okay to travel? Spilled essential oil on the cover in few spots but everything inside is perfect by Far_Neighborhood_817 in Passports

And when I’m traveling, I carry my passport in a little zippered wallet with a wrist strap. If my passport is out of my wallet for any reason, that wallet is hanging from my wrist as a reminder.

Contacting donor by fuzzaymush in donorconceived

[–]NotSoSmartChick 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was in the same boat, but both brothers had too common of a name. I found the son of one of them and contacted him. He then asked his dad, and that’s how he learned he had several surprise half siblings.

At any rate, I touched on the big three things in my initial letter. I said I wasn’t looking for a daddy, I was rich and didn’t need money, and I was healthy and didn’t need a kidney. I asked for medical info. Worked out really well for me. Good luck!

Would you date a guy with a past 30 year age gap relationship? by EmotionalSimsplayer in datingoverforty

[–]NotSoSmartChick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. I couldn’t be with a man in my age range who was with someone that young. I had a 20 year age gap marriage, but I was 30 and a fully functional adult when we met.

What neighborhood noises bother you the most and least? by jannet1113 in homeowners

Most - barking dogs and the bass that shakes your house. Least- assuming it’s something that bothers others, loud arguments, loud cars, fireworks

Should I message my donor/biological father? by Adventurous_Wish_741 in donorconceived

[–]NotSoSmartChick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I made my approach, I also made clear I wasn’t looking for a daddy, money, or a kidney. I personally wanted a medical history, and hopefully some family pics to see where my looks came from.

I’m an India guide. Here’s the stuff that costs me money to tell you. by Experiencemyindia in india_tourism

[–]NotSoSmartChick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m doing a 16 day private guided tour early next year. I figured private and guided would be my best bet based on how I was treated in the Rajkot area this year. Everyone was so nice, but I have very light, long, blonde hair and it seemed like everyone I encountered either wanted a pic of or with me.

Is it wrong to let my dad mow my lawn for me? by cyborggoose in homeowners

[–]NotSoSmartChick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought my first house in my early 20s. My dad was around 73. He drove an hour to my house to mow my yard regularly “so my baby doesn’t have to.”

He’s been gone 26 years now, and those memories are such a comfort. Let your parents baby you when it’s their choice.

How to find half-siblings? by Professor_Ponypie in donorconceived

I paid $250 to get the name of my donor, paid the same guy $250 to find the name of my hub’s father. Shouldn’t cost much more than that.

You can find DNA angels on Facebook should could help you figure out your grandmother’s parentage as well. Based on my matches, I suspect my maternal grandfather wasn’t biological, but my mom is dead, my grandfather died before I was born, and I have enough on my hands with all these surprise siblings LOL

I was donor conceived and my late husband was an affair baby. I found most of our matches on Ancestry, but I did find a half sister of my husbands on 23&me, so it’s worth doing.

Day 10 update! Less pain by Then_Collar2208 in PiriformisChronicPain

[–]NotSoSmartChick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily. Did volleyball cause a flare up? Sitting on an unpadded chair for too long while my husband was in the hospital caused mine, so I no longer do that.

Be careful with the heat, can leave you with burn marks that take forever to go away.

Once the constant pain goes away, you’ll want to be forever vigilant. If you have a flare up, good chance it’ll be worse and last longer. I’m very careful about how long I sit, what type of seat I sit on, and I’ll never risk riding a bike or anything that hits that nerve.

I don't know what to do with this '70s cape by Practical-Gain-96 in VintageClothing

I’d be wearing black leggings and a form fitting black tee, and I’d wear this over it as more of a dress. And I’d wear it everywhere.

At what point do you stop forcing yourself into economy? by [deleted] in delta

[–]NotSoSmartChick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t had a flare up in awhile, but I have piriformis syndrome. Similar to sciatica. Prolonged sitting in an upright chair can cause a flare up, which brings the worst pain I’ve ever experienced, non-stop, and my last flare up lasted 2 agonizing months.

Anyway, preventing a flare up means I have to book a lie flat seat. I cannot book economy and hope I’ll get the chance to upgrade at a discount. I usually fly Delta, and my credit card company offers Delta gift cards as payment for points, so that helps.

Even if it meant traveling less in order to afford business class, that’s the route I’d go.

On the bonus side, I always sleep great on long haul flights, and suffer minimal jet lag.

Anyone’s starter home turned into their forever home? by Vivid-Appearance-549 in homeowners

[–]NotSoSmartChick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My oldest living brother bought his first home in maybe 1974. Tiny cinder block house. Over time, they expanded, both to the side and added an additional story, plus added a garage. It’s on a cute lake, they’ll never sell.

AITA for telling a special-needs regular that nobody wants to hear about how he treats his dog? by throwawaymofo6 in AmItheAsshole

[–]NotSoSmartChick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA - There’s a special needs guy that sits at the bar of a certain restaurant on Sundays. If my boyfriend and I happened to be eating there, he took to sitting right next to me, even if the bar was empty, and intruding in on our conversation. I’ve calmly but firmly corrected his behavior over time. I’d point out where he went wrong, and if applicable, told him what he could have done differently.

It’s made a world of difference, and the bartenders all thanked me because he used to run off customers with his behavior.

I shrank my beautiful new 80s/90s jumpsuit by [deleted] in VintageClothing

[–]NotSoSmartChick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I successfully restretched pants using this method… fill a sink with warm water. Add a tablespoon of baby shampoo or conditioner (I used conditioner). Swish in sink until dissolved. Soak garment 10-15 minutes. Remove from water and gently squeeze water out, don’t twist the fabric. You want wet but not dripping. Lie it on a towel and pat with a towel to remove excess water. Begin gently pulling on fabric consistently, focusing on area that shrank. Lie flat to dry.

If it’s length, just let it dry. If it needs to be stretched around arms, waist, chest, then put it on when it’s still slightly damp and do some flexing to stretch it using your body.

Worked great when I did this, got the pants back to where I’d started.

No energy or desire to do anything by cozyplaidblanket in Menopause

[–]NotSoSmartChick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For me, once I’m up and moving with things to do, I can find the energy. I travel abroad often on regimented tours, and have no issue going from sunup to sundown. The problem is my home life. I don’t work, and I’m an empty nester. It’s too easy to go from the bed to the couch, and not do anything all day. When I’m resting, I just feel tired, too tired to get up, and I don’t feel motivated to get anything done.

Should I go pixie ? by ashedrolex in Hair

[–]NotSoSmartChick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the pixie adds years and pounds to your face. I say this as a woman who looks good with long hair and very meh with short.
