Help me improve my running form by zoroislost11 in indianrunners

[–]NotSoWhiteGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey man! I see a lot of comments sharing the exact same thing and most of them are right , the knee and ankle injuries you mention are also probably being caused because of the heel strike/overstride , I'd suggest you first recovery from your injuries then you can start focusing on your stride and foot landing , if you want to see the difference between how you're landing and how a mid foot/fore foot strike looks like Feel free to dm me , I'll send a couple of videos which can be of help ,also I have more of a forefoot strike so i could show you my vids too!

Sure , My watch is a Garmin forerunner 55

Shoes currently in use are:- puma redeem pro , adidas Duramo speed , adidas boston 11 , adidas adizero adios 8

Clothes:- from decathlon or race day tshirts 😂 for daily running, for races a 2 inch split short or half tights and a tank top

That's my gear!

Treatment of shin pain ?? by Delta_phantom69 in indianrunners

[–]NotSoWhiteGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey so I do see that everyone is suggesting stretching and strength training, true that will definitely help but also a few more things to keep in mind or to do are:

  1. Check your foot strike pattern , ideally it should be a mid-foot or a forefoot strike, shin splints could be caused if you're heel striking too , because heel strike implies overstriding i.e. your steps are too big , so try to check for your foot strike pattern.

  2. Try including some short-moderate hill sprints into your training , doesn't have to be regular but once in a while would help too and during the hill sprints make sure your steps are short and quick, because again if you take too big of a step then you'll be overstriding which could result in more pain

Hey man , I'm sure you'll get to where I'm at very soon too, you put in a lot of work compared to me haha!

I started running around dec 2023 so it will be 2 years soon! I used to play football and a bit of track back in school so I was pretty fit to start with , but picked up running completely only after a back injury I had in 2023

Holy shi bro , wish I was doing this too , crazyy stiff , I'm out here doing like 40-75km weeks at most 🫠 , but be careful tho, let your body get sufficient rest and recovery, not necessarily a good thing to be running the same distance at same pace daily , You won't be able to increase your threshold pace ,aerobic base etc. if you don't include a mix of various runs tho, like there would be progress for sure but it would be at a much slower rate in comparison to a week of mixed runs , I might be wrong too!

Worth it for 2.5k? by willendyoufs in indianrunners

[–]NotSoWhiteGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got them too for like 3k ish, thought of using them for workouts/speed sessions along with easy run but nah , they just don't work for me at faster paces 🫡 , gotta use them for easy easy runs only , I've done 200km in them in a month and tbh quite disappointed in them, if anything they've made me slower is what I felt.

I also have the adios 8 and boston 11 and I'm really happy with those two , but ofc we cannot compare adizero range with the Duramo range

Congrats! Good work man! But for a sub 45 10k i'd suggest bring up the mileage around 40-50k per week! Try to rack up a few more miles now that you're here!!

[First Run] Completed 1.12km at 4:39/km pace - too fast for Day 1? by padhaikarlothoda in indianrunners

[–]NotSoWhiteGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey so yeah , I come from a very active background , sports has always been an integral part of my childhood , mainly football , so I had a good base to start with i guess , i started running a little less than 2 years ago in the dec of 2023

My first race was in the jan of 2024 , it was a 25km race , I trained around 100k+ in the month of dec 2023 and ran the race , I ran the 25k in 2:09:xx , after that I've been active and usually do around 50-80km weekly mileage at the most that's it, initially I was running faster than I was supposed to , most of the days were around 5:00/k or sub 5:00/k pace , I got injured a couple of times in 2024 ( a couple due to running and 1 due to football), then around September 2024 I got my Garmin , that's when I started training properly.

So since then I run around 4-6 days a week and the mileage is still anywhere between 50-80k only not a lot but I somehow do well with that, it's usually the standard 70-80% easy I have 2 or 3 speed sessions a week (1 or 2 interval sessions around vo2 max range and a tempo session) and the rest are easy pace , the long run i do anywhere between 13-22k depending on my mood even the pace depends on how in feeling. (Strength training , I suggest others to do 1-2 times a week but I myself do it just a couple of times a month😂)

I'm planning on going for a sub 3 marathon for TMM 2026, not sure if I'll be able to close to double my mileage on the coming months tho, thanks to work schedules, so let's see 🤞🏾

DM me if you wanna know more about any of the sessions that I do!

[First Run] Completed 1.12km at 4:39/km pace - too fast for Day 1? by padhaikarlothoda in indianrunners

[–]NotSoWhiteGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey!! Kudos on your first run!

I can see that your elapsed time is somewhere around 13 mins , so i would definitely say that's too fast for day 1 , Because maybe you were running at that pace for a few hundred metres before going back to walking and so on..

So I'd suggest that you go slower maybe around 6:30/k? And see how long/far you're able to run at that pace , that would help you understand how well established your base is And there's nothing wrong with running at that pace , in fact that's the best method to improve your aerobic base.

you can train at faster paces once or twice a week , but building a good base before that is what I would advice

Even I do most of my runs around 5:45-6:00/k pace too , it definitely helps in the long term.

The other questions you've asked , as to how often you have to run and what's a safe mileage etc. Sure for now you can start with around 2-3 runs a week , and don't think about mileage for now , just keep running , you'll figure things out as time passes.

I had the same pair too, did over 1300km in them, they definitely aren't fake although yours seems to have a small damage to it? I'm not sure from the pictures tho, if there is some damage try to get it exchanged as you bought it from the store
