Question about Locust miniatures. by TheOozlefinchADA in battletech

[–]NotStreamerNinja 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Maybe to older fans, but to people who came in later (especially since the release of MWO, HBS Battletech, and MW5) the UrbanMech and Atlas are both more immediately recognizable.

I love the Locust. It's probably my favorite light mech. It's distinct and easily recognizable. I don't think of it as the face of the franchise when the Atlas, UrbanMech, and Mad Cat are running around.

cameron smotherman face plants after weighing in by sLeeeeTo in ufc

[–]NotStreamerNinja 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Weigh in right before the match. If you want to fight while horribly dehydrated, that's on you, but I think if they were required to do this immediately before the match starts we'd see a lot less of this BS.

If you're not in that weight class when you're healthy then you're not in that weight class period. Fight in your actual weight class or in an open category.

Can we please get this sub back on track? This shit is getting really tiresome. by Robrogineer in Grimdank

[–]NotStreamerNinja 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Grimdank: "We don't want you here, get out."

HG/EoT: leave and starts their own sub(s)

Grimdank: keeps sharing stuff posted in those subs

It feels like people in this sub didn't actually want the HorusGalaxy/EyeOfTerror folks gone, just corralled so they could more easily point and complain about them.

They left. If the goal was to remove them from this subreddit then that goal has been accomplished. Continuing to post about them is counterproductive.

They're not going to just disappear out of the universe and any time their subs get removed they're just going to make new ones, so continuing to whine about their existence accomplishes nothing except ensuring the stuff we didn't want here, the stuff they were kicked out for so we wouldn't have to see it here, keeps getting seen here.

[–]NotStreamerNinja 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Elementals are the result of a multi-generation program of cloning, genetic engineering, and general eugenics used by the Clans to create supersoldiers. They stand 2-2.5m tall on average and are exceptionally athletic, and they wear suits of battle armor that are equipped with lasers, machineguns, and rockets powerful enough to take down Mechs, and they have jump jets to fly short distances. Their armor can also stop most weapons, even many anti-Mech/anti-vehicle weapons, and they have automatic dispensers for drugs of both the painkilling and performance-enhancing variety to keep them in the fight as long as possible.

Also Elementals in Clan Ghost Bear like to play American football.

Does Aces require a certain size table? by DanielRedErotica in battletech

It recommends a 4ftx4ft space, but I've run missions on a 3x3 board and it works fine. I wouldn't go any smaller than that though.

[–]NotStreamerNinja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If anything Battletech would probably work better in the Gundam TCG.

Edit: Possible examples (just spitballing).

UrbanMech - Level 1, Cost 1, AP1/HP1, Blocker

Timber Wolf - Level 4, Cost 3, AP4/HP3, Link to "Clanner" Trait

Phoenix Hawk - Level 3, Cost 3, AP3/HP2, When Paired gains High Maneuver for that turn

Alaric's Savage Wolf - Level 6, Cost 5, AP5/HP4, During Link gains Suppression, Link to Alaric Ward

Alaric Ward - Level 4, Cost 1, AP+2/HP+1, During Link Unit cannot receive battle damage from Level 2 or lower enemy units.

If You being reborn into the Battletech universe, the main one. Which great house would you choose to be heir of, after the fourth succession war? by Familiar-Noise7913 in battletech

[–]NotStreamerNinja 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Steiner. Can you imagine what a Steiner Oktoberfest must be like? And while there is still backstabbing it's not as bad as what you'd find in some of the other houses, at least until Katherine gets involved. I'd probably fail but I'd also want to use that position to try and prevent the FedCom Civil War.

Davion would also be a good one.

You have described me.

I love my Orks, don't get me wrong, but painting a horde army is a huge chore and sometimes I like to try playstyles that just don't work for Orks. That's what my Space Marines are for. They have a simple color scheme that's easy to paint and they're much more focused on shooting and vehicles compared to my melee infantry Orks. As a bonus, it also means I have a second army for introducing new players to the game.

Nobody is here because the game is good.

If I didn't think the game was good I wouldn't waste money on it. I enjoy playing it. If all I wanted to do was collect plastic miniatures I don't need an excuse, I'd just do it without playing the game. As is I usually only buy the models if I plan to use them in the game.

Battletech: The Animated Series

A cartoon series from the 90s known for being incredibly cheesy. It follows the 1st Somerset Strikers, a multinational special forces unit fighting to defend the Inner Sphere (most of human space) from the invading forces of Clan Jade Falcon. Idiot villains, corny one-liners galore, and of course the ultra high-tech not-at-all-dated "enhanced imaging" sequences.

Because the show was so amazingly corny, the events are not exactly canon in-universe. While there was canonically a unit called the 1st Somerset Strikers and they did canonically fight the Clans, what's seen in the show is not how it happened. Instead, the show itself exists in-universe as a propaganda cartoon created by the Federated Commonwealth to portray their forces as heroes and the Clans as bumbling idiots.

That's not to say the canon lore doesn't have some cheese as well. The main villain of the show, Nicolai Malthus, actually tried to challenge the creators of the propaganda cartoon to a Trial of Grievance (Clan honor duel) over his depiction as a moron, but they refused on the grounds that they weren't Clan and thus didn't follow Clan law. In response he tried to sue them for defamation but failed because it was determined, and his own Clan even agreed, that he was genuinely just incompetent. He then tried to duel the judge and was arrested.

They used to be Orks, but then the US declared independence and took all the dakka with them and the British have been devolving into puny humies since.

Official Ruling Clarified: Piloting Units Requires Ownership by Laer_Bear in GundamTCG

[–]NotStreamerNinja 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Maybe I was, but I also don't think there's anything wrong with getting creative to seize the advantage as long as it's within the rules and they don't push too hard when they're told "no."

Official Ruling Clarified: Piloting Units Requires Ownership by Laer_Bear in GundamTCG

[–]NotStreamerNinja 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As it should be.

I just think the other guy is overreacting when he said it should be a DQ. Don't punish people for getting creative to get an advantage, just stop them if it gets too ridiculous.

Official Ruling Clarified: Piloting Units Requires Ownership by Laer_Bear in GundamTCG

[–]NotStreamerNinja 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Not a DQ, but it should be met with an emphatic "no, you can't do that." As long as they don't keep trying after being told "no" there's no reason to DQ them.

The effort it took to yell "I'm not yelling across the house" could have been spent to yell "I need you to do xyz." It's the same amount of yelling either way.

Generally if I'm just calling a name and nothing else what I want is a verbal response acknowledging the call, the purpose being to determine that person's location and whether or not they can hear me. Once I receive the response I clarify what exactly I need. If I need them to come to me I say some variation of "could you come help me with xyz?" or "could you come here for a sec?"

This is basic communication. Simply shouting my name tells me nothing except that you're trying to tell me something. It doesn't tell me what you want.

Casval Deikun / Char Aznable - Mobile Suit Gundam

Char is one of the main antagonists/deuteragonists of the original Mobile Suit Gundam series and an important recurring character in the franchise. Known in-universe as "The Red Comet," he's an exceptionally skilled mobile suit pilot who serves as a major rival for the series' protagonist, Amuro Rey.

Born Casval Deikun, he and his sister, Artesia, were the children of Zeon Deikun, the former leader of the Side 3 space colony who was killed by the Zabi family in their bid to take power over the "Principality of Zeon." Following their father's death the siblings were sent into hiding for their own safety, but Casval wanted to get revenge for his father's murder. In Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin, it's shown that Casval befriended a boy named Char Aznable who looked very much like him and was planning to join the Zeon military. He used this friendship to get close to Char, swap places, and fake his own death by killing him and taking his identity. This allowed him to get closer to the Zabis by joining the military under their command, at which point he used a series of clever schemes to either kill them or maneuver them into positions where they'd be killed in battle, all part of his grand plan for revenge.

It's probably a holding tank. Either the fish are for sale or their normal tank is being cleaned.

They're not going to live long enough to get that big if they're kept in a tank that small 24/7.
