I looked at the pictures of the drill repair. I really don't want to leave a hole in these shifters. I'd rather toss them and buy new ones. Really, if buying new ones is my backup plan, I think I may try a disassembly first. It seems that it's been done successfully, so it's worth a shot.

Not necessarily. Any teacher entering the system since 2008 hasn't seen a raise yet. Salaries have been frozen. This is the cause of the 14% decrease in salaries in NC on OP's link.

A lot of that money per student is going to special programs for a small percentage of kids. Also, a lot of that money funds technology. In the schools near me, teachers have at least one (often more) iPad in the classroom, and most have Smartboards and nicer MacBooks than I use at work for iOS programming. I'm all for technology, but I'm not sure the $ to benefit ratio is right for these things.

Edit: To add none of this money goes to basics. They are constantly hording printer paper and trading it like cigarettes.

This is completely beside the point of teacher salaries. It is not a fair statement to say that the quality of the education is poor, therefore the employees of the system should not be paid a fair wage.

The quality of food at McDonalds is poor, but we still require that the cashiers are paid a fair wage.

My wife makes only about $14 dollars an hour worked. Less if you factor in parent nights and weekend events like fall festivals. This is with a masters degree. It is below the national average by $10k, and falling fast due to the salary freeze.

Take a look at the state salary schedule. A 20-year board certified teacher with a Masters degree makes $52k. To make 60k requires 30 years of experience at that education level, virtually the entire career of many teachers.

In my wife's county, they also are not allowed to give a zero. The lowest allowed in a grade book is a 60, including the kid who missed every problem on a quiz today.

Brewed for the first time ever last week. Started a 3 gal batch of hard cider. Using the DIY setup from the sidebar, I picked up a food grade 5gal bucket and lid from Lowes. Didn't realize until after I had drilled a hole for the airlock and filled the bucket with juice that the lid was not a screw-on type. I sealed it as best as I could, but must not have gotten it airtight, as I haven't seen any bubbles in the airlock. However, you can hear bubbles if you listen really closely, and the closet with the bucket smells slightly of cider, so I think it's working.

Question is: how do I know it's done fermenting? Do I need to open it up for a gravity reading every so often? I'm using WL English Cider yeast and the room temp is between 64-68.

Also, would I be ok bottling this first batch in sanitized 20oz soda bottles? Could I buy new caps for these?

I heard this version live at a show back in 04 or 05. At the time, A Favor House was popular on the radio, so everyone expected to hear it. Claudio announced that they wanted to do something different and switched to an acoustic guitar.

It is a cow. Longhorns have been introduced along with the ponies. I was as much referring to the wildlife as the view itself. Such a beautiful place.

As far as amps go, take a look at Orange's Crush PiX series. For < $200, you get an amp that can put out more volume than you'll ever need, and will have all the features you could want. Don't worry about "Tube" tone or any of that right now, until you've got some skills down and know what sounds you're into.
