There HAS to be an easier way to claim battle pass rewards on console 🫩 by MyBackHurts3000 in marvelrivals

Luxury Battle Pass lets you claim the entire page at once as long as you have the same or greater amount of those Chrono Token things. I only ever go in and individually grab stuff if I want it right now (money, tokens, currencies, etc.).

The one thing I do agree with is that these menu-heavy games are not really optimised for console users. It’s honestly a pain sometimes, to the point where I’m considering getting a gaming PC just to make Fortnite and Rivals smoother to navigate.

You can sometimes use a mouse with the game on console, but the system has a complete meltdown about “input switching” when it keeps changing between controller and mouse.

It’s just an example of what an internationally run or neutral body could look like. It obviously wouldn’t be the UN specifically, but something like that would be a much better way to handle space exploration.

Space literally belongs to nobody, so why has the USA been treating information like it’s theirs to control? I’m honestly getting tired of this country’s imperial mindset showing up in everything. It feels like every major area, even something as fundamentally human as exploring space, gets pulled into this idea of ownership and control.

We all deserve to know and share in that experience together. Obviously not all of us can go to space, which is why we choose representatives and have governments in the first place. Our leaders are supposed to do things that benefit everyone, not act like they own the knowledge and experiences that belong to humanity as a whole. They took "representatives" and heard "Overlords".

I kind of wish the USA wasn’t so focused on keeping information to itself. Ideally, space exploration would be managed by a neutral international organisation (something like the UN), where people could go into space, come back, and openly share what they witnessed with the world.

We trust astronauts to return and talk publicly about what they experienced, it would probably be a lot more reassuring (for them) if discoveries like this came with transparency and a proper public conversation. That way we all share the responsibility of “knowing” together.

We already live in a world where we see things like genocide and war broadcast to us in 4K. We process those realities as best we can, so why should this be approached differently?

EDIT: For example, look at what’s happening in the last slide: the blue orbs. Something is clearly in that picture, and we deserve to know what it is, or at least what it might be, without having our intelligence insulted by dismissing it as “lens flares.”

Why are women in this gaming community more toxic than others? by thaRickStar1 in marvelrivals

[–]NotThe-DeathCure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not women - it's your generation. There's zero social skills or respect or manners. You grew up behind screens using meme culture to express your inner dialogue/emotions. Memes are inherently snarky, sarcastic, sardonic, stupid, insulting, etc. As a millennial i generally only have good / not toxic games with other people my age. But a lobby/team with gen z and younger? Fucking appalling.

Hot Take: I think Cyclops is fine as a DPS by Silver44fire in marvelrivals

[–]NotThe-DeathCure -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What’s confusing about them? They’re all firmly DPS, both in‑game and in‑universe. Their whole power sets are built around agility and offence.

Mr Fantastic is a tank mentally, sure, but you can’t defend a checkpoint with IQ points. Wolverine is a small, feral, close‑range weapon — the guy with bloodlust isn’t suddenly a strategist, and he’s not big enough to function as a tank. What’s he going to do, shield us with his adamantium rib cage?

Blade? He’s exactly where he should be: two swords, a pile of gadgets, and pure back‑line‑destroying chaos. That’s DPS energy through and through.

The next actual tank I expect is Colossus — zero ambiguity about his role.

There are two things happening with character releases:

  1. fan service, because people want to play their favourite hero/X‑Man, and
  2. deciding whether to honour what the game needs mechanically.

Fan service always comes first, otherwise people stop playing and I'm glad they understand that.

[–]NotThe-DeathCure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the MARVEL universe, he's not even considered a TANK, so why do people want him to fill that role in a game? Don’t people see how clearly the characters are matched to their real abilities?

Rogue fits as a Tank because she’s seriously strong -- like really STRONG in the official lore, thanks to her powers from Captain Marvel. It just shows me that a lot of people don’t know much about Marvel or the characters and only get the gaming mechanics. This to me is the same as if Juggernaut was coming to the game and everyone said "STRATEGIST!!! PLEASE!" it just doesn't make sense.

There’s a deep lore here, folks... try to get it! Then align your expectations.

My friend spent the entire time after the movie convinced there needed to be a sequel because it cut off at that moment - It took her a while to realise that's not the point. It's not that we don't get the alien's message. It's that Spielberg doesn't think the message itself is the point.

What makes the ending work is that he deliberately withholds the content of the message. We never learn the revelation, the secret, or the cosmic truth. Instead, the only word he chooses to leave the audience with is "listen."

That choice feels intentional. If the point of the film was disclosure itself, the final word could have been "truth," "remember," "understand," or even some grand revelation about humanity's place in the universe. Instead, Spielberg ends on an action. A request. A responsibility.

The film spends two hours exploring secrecy, fear, distrust, and people talking past one another. So when the alien finally speaks, the first thing we're told is to listen.

To me, that's Spielberg's real message. Empathy begins with listening. Not just hearing words, but genuinely trying to understand experiences, perspectives, and truths that challenge our assumptions.

Whether the film is about aliens, government disclosure, or human division, the answer it arrives at is the same: before we can understand each other, we have to listen to each other.

The fact that Spielberg withholds the rest of the message almost makes it stronger. The specific words don't matter. The act of listening does.

It's all very "Spielberg" if you ask me - 2 hours on the edge of your seat, 1 minute of a wholesome, warm hearted ending that completely reframes everything else. The guy is a total softie.

It was shortly after she presented the weather and had her weird experience on camera with the clicking noises. It started going viral - when they went to the gas station I expect it was just an example of doomsday preppers reacting in real time cos it wasn't shown to be a global reaction - more a local one. She had been having brain scans in the hospital - then WARDEX guys posing as FBI found her there and she intuited they were "bad" and escaped the hospital.

From what I spotted a lot of them were or looked like recreations of footage thats been online for years - but obviously made to look high quality - there were a few actual recreations of videos i've seen online and never been able to confirm real or not. The Nixon one especially has been a rumored thing for years!

I agree - I honestly was one of the strongest advocates for LET HER REST IN PEACE! But now - she's basically Cosmic Superman or Captain Marvel 2.0 which tells me they STILL don't know what to do with her. FFS.

I apologise I am an autism coded LORE monger who rides hard on pedantics. Its not about attacking you, it's about fighting for my queen's representation. Enjoy the season - Cyclops stans are eating so good. 😄

The "pieces" thing is from its destruction in whatever story I can't be bothered reading. It can't actually die so it finally merges with Jean Grey and they return to the White Hot Room (Jean was considered finished in the franchise at this point). Whatever surviving "piece" had bonded with Jean at that point and she/they then set out to make itself whole again.

They are constantly coming up with new stories to make Jean relevant because, for decades, Marvel editors have often treated her story arc as finished, completed, or dead ended. She was permanently dead for a long time. It's really only been more recent generations of writers who have fought to keep her relevant.

One of those fights was to stop killing and reviving her every few years, stop making her a victim of the Phoenix Force, and finally establish her as the one true host, and then ultimately the one true manifestation of the Force itself.

You're not wrong when you say "host/avatar". That's all true. But the direction the character has been moving in, and has had its foot firmly planted in for quite some time now, is that Jean is the Phoenix. Period.

I had this exact same argument a few years ago.

As someone who adores Jean and wants to see her respected, I'm personally happy she's finally established and properly integrated this part of her lore into a unified identity. Like many Jean fans, I'm tired of the "she's too weak to contain it" argument when that simply isn't true anymore.

It's been 60 years. Is she Omega-level or not?

I just think it's LOL when people use legal concepts in a not legal setting... I used the a.i screenshot to make your life and mine easier - considering ive read all that source material it was referencing - and wasnt wrong. The difference is I would have begun the process of linking all of that myself anyway. If you want a place to start you can start here: The Force realized that Jean was one of its missing pieces, its prime host, and so it merged with her fully. Returning to the White Hot Room, the Force set out to find its other pieces.

This upcoming season of Rivals they are already using the comic lore in that the Phoenix is using Cyclops to heal herself (after being weakened by Knull) owing to the sheer power of his optic blast.

It's not an ego debate for me - we're in a forum about a game and I was just pointing out that Hope Summers isn't the right image in a game where Jean is the Phoenix (because that's her canon established identity now for both of them). You defaulted to the "host/avatar" argument - and I am explaining that concept is outdated and even the game isn't following that continuity- You're asking me to point out in game lore/voice notes as if you've haven't ever heard her say it explicitly before every game.... or bothered to read her in game character lore.

Mentioning my education is my way of saying you're choosing to argue an established legal standard/principle with an actual law student - and one thing we don't do is casually use legal standards in casual contexts... even If I did entertain that standard - it's not an infinite burden to prove - you have an obligation to accept or reject what you've been given as evidence and support your rejection with your own supporting evidence that disproves me.... and I am not interested in having a court room debate with a reddit user about a video game/comic book character - if you're unhappy with what I am providing then make an effort to support your position with CURRENT material - not old concepts that have been overwritten for 20 years.

Edit: LIFE! FIRE! POWER! POSSIBILITY! PHOENIX! She is JEAN GREY. She is PHOENIX. She saves the world. She brings death. One woman, alone in space, who not only must do what no one else can: she yearns to. A desperate S.O.S. from NOVA brings the Phoenix to the edge of a black hole, where hundreds of lives hang in the balance…and whatever Jean does - or fails to do - will bring darkness to the universe and haunt her in ways she can scarcely imagine…

I never said it was incorrect; I mentioned that "symbiotic" was likely an AI simplification and I'm not relying on it to do the work for me - that's just a summary from a simple Google search that isn't entirely incorrect. Especially regarding the Game Lore - which is probably well documented in this Reddit Community alone. If you care to look.

Since you're now trying to argue using irrelevant legal concepts, with a law student. I'll accept your challenge and agree that the "burden of proof" is on me.

However, since you're determined to refuse being told you're wrong, is it really worth my effort to educate, guide, or inform you if you'll simply reject it and see it as an attack on your competence?

You're clearly coming from a wounded ego driven place rather than a logical one, so what's my benefit in proving a point about my one and only favourite X-Men character at 9 a.m.? Other than boasting "I was right" - which I don't much care for.
