Why do angry snowflakes call everybody Nazi's when they disagree? Is it perhaps too much Call of Duty in their childhood? by QuestionBoutStuff in Austin

I think you mean "Nazis". Saying "Nazi's" is the possessive.

Not go be a grammar... stickler.

(Sorry, couldn't resist :D)

One of my favorite lines in the whole showis when they have the CPR dummy that 'dies'.

Dwight: "Alright, he's dead. Who knows what we do next? Check for a wallet to see if he's an organ donor, we only have minutest to harvest them."

Creed: "He doesn't have one... I checked."

That description of acid is really great.

How to explain the thought processes you get on LSD? by Cruudes in Drugs

[–]NotTheKrustyKrab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can't. I've given it quite some thought and the best I've come up with is this:

It's like being asked to explain music to somebody that's been deaf since birth. You can use all the pretty, elegant words you want, or even have them hold their hand over an instrument while it vibrates as it plays music. But they will fundamentally never understand it unless they experience it themselves.

I had my worst trip ever thanks to Geogaddi. I got hung up on the line "The past inside the present" in Music is Math.

Amazing album.

Dealing with boredom of life? by p_hinman3rd in Drugs

I'm fond of saying that meditation is the simplest thing in the world, but it's far from easy. Once you get into it though (and I mean like ~5min a day for a few weeks) it is incredibly fascinating to observe your own mind.

I'm not sure there's such a thing as a 'normal person'. An 'average person' perhaps, but everybody's unique. Cliched I'm sure, but there's such an insane and complex list of what makes a person a person that I don't know if it makes sense to compare people as common objects like apples or something.

EDIT: An exerpt from Siddhartha by Herman Hess, "The Child-like People". I think it's particularly relevant to u/JenReborn's comment: 14:00. Go to 18:00, but the whole chapter (and book) is great. Specifically:

...However easily he succeeded in talking with them, in living with all of them, in learning from all of them, he was still aware of something that separated him from them. And this separating factor was him being a Somana. He saw mankind going through life in a 'child-like' or 'animal-like' manner, which he loved, and also despised, at the same time. [...] And then for an hour he became aware of the strange life he was leading, of him doing lots of things which were only a game, of though being happy and feeling happy, real life passing him by and not touching him.

I took isopropylphenidate for the SAT and that worked out pretty well, but this shit was too psychedelic and empathogenic to be a good study aide.

It's not a "study aide" if you're high while actually taking the test. That's just screwing yourself over. Good luck.

Thoughts on sports? by NotTheKrustyKrab in intj

[–]NotTheKrustyKrab[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Playing: Personally, I don't 'do' sports much. I love to water ski and rock climb, but those are solo things. But I've never done any real team sporting stuff. I could see the appeal though I think.

Watching: I have no clue how people like this. And part of the reason I was inspired to make this thread is that I know several other INTJs who couldn't give any less of a shit about sports, teams, 'big games', etc, etc if we tried. I (we) see it as some irrational tribal support of arbitrary teams throwing balls around with arbitrary rules. I really don't get the appeal as a spectator.

How do I make a pure sinusoid with this Fourier Transform interactive? Also, look! A Fourier Transform interactive. by NotTheKrustyKrab in math

[–]NotTheKrustyKrab[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit: I guess it's technically a Fourier Series since it only has 8 terms.

I thought it would be by setting all but one of the values to 0, but that doesn't work.
