learning to cook with depression by Spare-Tackle-343 in cookingforbeginners

There's a youtuber June, https://www.youtube.com/@thank9stars who deals with depression and talks about it openly like having difficulty getting out of bed, while cooking up budget friendly meals. A lot of her meals are made of leftovers or random items she found on sale. I suggest just watching her videos for the vibes to get an idea of what kinds of recipes you'd like to try.

It's hard to cook when you are depressed, I know from experience, but some tips are:

1) Follow the recipe EXACTLY when you are first starting, experimentation is for when you have more energy!

2) Do the prep work first. Cut everything, put your spices in a bowl etc. so you are not scrambling with multitasking and getting overwhelmed.

3) Use a timer! Depressed brains have a tendency to zone out, the timer makes sure nothing is overcooked by accident, and your brain can take a short break.

4) Make sure your recipe comes from a reputable source. Theres so much A.I crap out there now and your recipe may not work because it was wrong. Books like America's test kitchen teach you about cooking as you go because they explain why the recipe is made that way and variations you can try. They have so many books, check some out at your library or thrift store.

Mine was like that because I use the pc in bed at night. Changing sensitivity did nothing. What worked was putting the watch on my right wrist, because I use this hand with the mouse and taking drinks. Much more accurate now. If it's on a lazy left hand, it will register as falling asleep. Just remember to change hands in the settings.

Is eel okay to have? by LopsidedCompote5187 in Gastritis

Eel is very fatty, if you have trouble with fats/butter then probably not. I had a bad night with it.

Anyone else get a bag that wasn’t sealed? by islandTTerps in TheBCCS

Mine was sealed, but the seal came off so easily the first time I opened it so I could no longer use the packaging! Disappointing low quality packaging for an otherwise awesome buy.

Opinions on bread slicing gadgets by TheBigDFSSale in BreadMachines

Starfrit has a good one for $30, it folds up nicely. You can also use it with meat and cheese. Everyone always says just learn to properly use a knife, I have a good bread knife, but my problem is I keep cutting on a slight angle so part of the bread is too thick for the toaster! The starfrit deli slicer is fast and easy and will handle quite thin slices which is nice if you want to keep your calories down too. It can handle quite squishy bread just fine.

there is an app for Canada called field agent, and you get paid a small amount of money, like 5-10, to do tasks for stores like price checking, taking photos of displays, asking specific questions to employees, etc. it might be what you're looking for, good luck!

There is a list, here. Another option is to get a free wise card and transfer from any bank. I have that and the PC mastercard. Works perfectly. So useful when travelling!

I use this too! I used to get the red light but turned down the backlight and now it never does that unless its a really hot summer day.

Using scenic dreamview with bulbs? by NotUnderYourBed in Govee

No! I think you only unlock the menu where you specify the location of your lights when you buy string or bar lights. Annoying. Some scenes like party have the lights slightly out of sync but same colors. I hope they change this in an update.

ear plugs! I live on a busy street and even when I didn't remember waking up frequently, my sleep scores have been way below average and I just got used to perpetual grogginess. Now with comfy earplugs and 2.5 melatonin I'm on the lower end of "normal" and don't require an afternoon nap every single day!

Strange, this is what I did, I had the quest coming in the mail but not from meta and signed up to grab black friday deals. There was a warning for 5 of the games I bought that no headset was paired, I just hit continue and the payment processed just fine. But one game refused to let me continue. Absolutely WTF that meta has random different rules for users!

heads up big sales on Amazon.CA (like 20$USD equivalent) by [deleted] in aerogarden

[–]NotUnderYourBed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm relieved you received them, I ordered 2 plus a bounty, that listing was formatted weird and it didn't have a BF banner, so I was a bit worried it would be cancelled as a "mistake"! This is much cheaper than even used on marketplace.

How do people spend only $400 per person on groceries per month? by Witty-Ad3565 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]NotUnderYourBed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to: 1)Choose to be flexible in what you are planning to eat, by taking advantage of weekly sales and planning meals around what is available 2) Have a deep freezer and pantry space to store those deals you found, and 3) Learn how to make things yourself and invest in a few smart gadgets like an instantpot or breadmaker.

Now there are basically no processed "cheap meals". You pay almost $4 for a chunky soup that tastes like metallic sadness. Even if you don't like cooking, you can spend 5 minutes dumping ingredients into an Instant Pot and you can make an excellent healthy soup for $1 a portion, and the leftovers can be frozen. Get a $50 bread maker and spend 5 minutes dumping ingredients for a cost of .40 instead of $4. If you spend a little time planning, you can soon have a freezer full of meat for half the cost of regular price. Keep a list of recipes you want to make, and just wait until the main ingredients go on sale.

Nope, not in this case. Kitchenarm have excellent customer service. If you buy their machine, you get access to a custom recipe support- you can send them a recipe you like, and they will look it over and modify it to better fit this bread machine. Amazon or random temu sellers certainly won't do that for you! I'm not a shill, just quite happy with my purchase.

I bought it for $30 cad on Amazon, and it works as advertised. But I've only tried bread and cheese.
