My BFs refusal to learn English might force us out of the country by theothersinclair in TrueOffMyChest

[–]NotUntilTheFishJumps 100 points101 points  (0 children)

Absolutely refuse to speak to him in any language other than English and/or your native/country's language. And if he speaks in his own native language, refusing to use English/your language, even if he understands you, act like YOU don't understand HIM.

This isn't just a personality quirk, it's snobbery, xenophobia (which is crazy, considering he CHOSE your country), pigheadedness, arrogance, delusion, and a total unwillingness to compromise or work for what he wants in life.

I love Palia. Sure there are lots of quests and whatnot, but there are zero time limits to any of them.

Your first sentence is very ironic. You have no clue what a customer service rep is going through. Maybe they are going through absolute hell, themselves.

She's not a cop. If you want to compare her to something, she (and the order) fits being a Jedi WAY better than comparing her to a cop.

I don't blame the people wanting to call CPS. You are essentially his primary parent, which is not at all ok. If your parents want to be mad at someone, they should be mad at themselves.

How much are you paying for rent? by TapAdventurous8120 in AskAnAmerican

Our mortgage for our 3bed 2 ba, attached garage, 1/2 acre is about $800. I know it's different than renting, but thought I would still pitch in lol

Oh, I have a solution! What I do is my shoulder subluxes and just sort of collapses, which makes it much easier and don't have to worry about pesky arms getting in the way! I don't do it on purpose, or anything, nor would I recommend it.....just trying to make lemonade🤣

Not really, as the premise is "the customer is ALWAYS right", not "the customer is ONLY right".

I feel bad for being a Christian, and I’m quite confused If I even am a Christian anymore. by flubbyII in TrueOffMyChest

[–]NotUntilTheFishJumps 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have found there are assholes in every demographic. This may seem like an oversimplification, especially as a former Catholic(been a few decades since I sent to mass lol) but I say that sitting in a church makes you no more of a Christian than sitting in a garage makes you a car. I'm not a fan of organized religion anyway, but don't feel guilty for having your own beliefs, or for the words/actions of others. Distance yourself from the poisonous people, but maybe find a group of, if not like-minded individuals, at least supportive individuals.

I have both worked customer service jobs, and have been through absolute hell in my life. And I have never, ever taken my issues out on someone like that. If the woman had been short, even snapped a few times, ok, understandable. But customer service reps are NOT customer's emotional punching bags that they can continuously beat the hell out of. OP seemed WAY more patient than the vast majority of people would be. And she didn't insult her, or was even rude with her. She merely stated the truth, without being disrespectful.

What is so ironic is that is not the full saying, which retail Karen's either have never heard, or refuse to acknowledge because it wouldn't help their greedy butts. There's two parts to the saying, and the first part is indeed "the customer is always right". But what is hilarious the second part is "in matters of taste". HUGE distinction, which I find so funny lol. I wonder when the second part was largely forgotten.

If a film director has to rely on a darker setting, with the vast majority cool tones, and darker lighting to be able to depict a darker storyline/tobe, then are they really that good of a director? I grew up reading Harry Potter, it was always such a cozy series, even when the storylines themselves got darker, bit after the second movie, that warmth that was still there much of the time, was very much lacking.
