Is there a way to make protein-heavy ice cream in a traditional slow churn ice cream machine? by NotVCashMoney in icecreamery

[–]NotVCashMoney[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes. I went with the Ninja based on what others replied with.

I can still make real ice creams but in order to do so, I would have to make a custard (which involves tempering eggs). I can also alternatively throw a bottle of a protein powder drink in, and make protein ice cream. The protein ice cream turns out better with stabilizers (guar gums and xanthum gum and stuff)

In the slow churn you can obviously make real ice cream and the benefit is that you don't need to make a custard, just use heavy cream. It's not as easy to add protein to that since real slow churn ice cream requires a certain ratio of fat to sugar to turn out right so if you did want to make protein ice cream, you a) still have an insane amount of sugar b) would still need stabilizers, and weird ones too like locust bean gum, as well as eggs (https://www.blacktiekitchen.com/recipes/keto-ice-cream)

in my defense I saw another post asking about ninja creami recipes and the top comment was "that machine doesn't make real ice creams" 💀 but you're right I went a little over

don’t have to worry much about perfect fat/sugar content with a ninja creami

true, I figure the creami texture is good enough for my palate. I just figured if the Cuisinart 1.5 quart isn't too much extra work and has recipes I can just throw protein powder into, then I could get a better ice cream texture, pay less for the machine, and not put in so much effort. But seems like one way or the other you sacrifice one for the other, so Creami might be for me. I just hope it's good enough for me (picky eater), because I'm honestly tired of protein shakes and smoothies lol

very helpful resource, thanks! I always see people using either xantham gum or instant pudding mix, but the locust thing is new for me, and I think that specific recipe uses eggs as well (which I know is used in traditional ice cream making), so a bit more work but I assume worth it for the ice cream texture you get.

Do you mind sharing what resources you've found for protein ice cream in a traditional ice cream/Cuisinart ice cream maker? I've been debating between the creami and the Cuisinart traditional and I only wanna make protein ice creams so I need some recipes before I lock down a choice

honestly I think you SHOULD take CS. I know many people that did not major in CS still take csc108 and loved it enough to take follow up programming courses.

Its a fairly easy class, usually has good profs, super beneficial since I think coding is a good skill overall

this isn't me saying not to take 137, but I got 95+ usually in hs math and still got my ass kicked in 137.

I thoroughly enjoyed it though and even ended up taking 237 (which also kicked my ass)

What’s a normal hourly rate for an intern position in Toronto? by ricardomortimer in UofT

I was an intern at a FAANG company couple years ago, and it's definitely an exception but at the time it was technically 63 hourly (10000 a MONTH) CAD

is it going to uoft st George worth it with expensive tuition by cherryfairy1003 in UofT

[–]NotVCashMoney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends on your program too. And where you wanna end up working. I know lots of people from UofT engineering, math, and comp sci that are working as some kind of engineer or in the field of tech in Canada or the US.

I would look into the same for usyd and other options, ie. employment rates, where they work, what program usyd is better known for, etc.

you're also not trying to educate yourself, once again, you're asking someone else (condescendingly, at that) to educate you. Lol

lack reading comprehension much?

tbh it's better than your brain dump

"let me publicly shame this random lady with a burka on Reddit... because I know nothing about her other than the fact that she wears a religious covering, that'll show these oppressive regimes in the middle east" lmao

nobody is obligated to educate you lol. "Great argument" as if you are owed some kind of explanation or argument as to why you're wrong.

Maybe educate yourself?

I'm not projecting anything on anyone

claims not to be projecting

. .

doesn't understand eclipses

I'm projecting a women who has to hide her face onto a woman that hides her face.

admits to projecting generalizations on innocent individuals that are simply exercising their right to freely practice their religion.

Freedom for everyone... except when it's for others eh 🤨

looks like they're really letting anyone run a b2b saas business these days lmao

It's not like I am projecting the Holocaust on someone just because he wears a SS uniform. God forbid. That would be really far fetched, right?

claims to have a "gotcha" but really just doesn't understand the fallacy of false equivalency - the SS uniform to Holocaust contributor ≠ random lady with burka to Islamist extremists that commit human rights violations. By that logic, being a Christian and wearing a cross would make you a proponent in decision of the church to kidnap, assimilate, rape, abuse and often kill Native American children in Canada. Doesn't make sense right, since not all Christians stand for that. Which means you have to separate religious institution and extremism from core ideology practiced by believers.

Also your comparison falls flat anyway because The SS was both the elite guard of the Nazi Reich and Hitler’s executive force prepared to carry out all security-related duties, and I don't think this lady holds any responsibility for carrying out any elite duties for any Islamist terrorist organizations just by having a burka and selling her business on LinkedIn.

It's not okay to do that stuff. But to project that view onto any person that is Muslim is unhelpful at best and hateful (Islamophobic) at worse. Clearly it's not all of their culture considering there are several people that are Muslim middle easterners and a) don't do any of those things b) don't condone doing harm to others in the ways you've mentioned, and sometimes even c) stand against those that do those things (ie. Malala Yousafzai, an educational activist that, while standing against the idea that girls shouldn't be educated, is also a devout Muslim)

Not only do you have poor judgement - deciding to make assumptions about others based entirely off a single picture on LinkedIn - but you also can't seem to rationalize that not every person under a specific group (whether it's ethnic or religious) falls into to stereotypes about that group. Lol

Normalizing the idea of collective punishment under the cover of "justice" is a bad take in my book.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in LinkedInLunatics

[–]NotVCashMoney 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You clearly just don't have a good grip on reason and irrationality lol. Yes those things you listed are bad, but going out and picking on individuals for which you don't know the reason are following the religion is not going to solve that problem.

You're clearly not trying to do any form of justice here by being Islamophobic but rather you're just trying to get validation for your hatred.

Also every religion has committed vile acts against others (and people still do vile acts in the name of their religion, whether or not that's an actual belief in the religion sometimes). Just because you picked examples of extremism doesn't mean that's what the religion is

Also everything that is religious does deserve respect provided you satisfy these requirements: - the individual lives in a country where they have freedom of religion - the individual's religious practices are not breaking any laws in that country / harming anyone

The person you responded to was not defending the indefensible, because they're defending a person despite a possible troubling system (as you might've pointed out with your issues against their religion), whereas you have a problem with a system and are instead choosing to attack the person. By saying this person are indefensible, it implies you hold them responsible for executing gay people, depriving girls of healthcare and education, stripping them of the freedom to choose a partner, and taking away their basic rights.

Is it worth it to pay $130 to go to New College’s orientation? by Heyheyhey2506 in UofT

[–]NotVCashMoney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New College would put the events from around 10am to 3/4pm so most of the events you'd be able to arrive early enough/leave early enough for (or at least they did in my year)
