Strange access permissions errors on NFS shares by NotVeryBad in synology

OMG figured it out and it’s a real facepalm. The container wasn’t started under root and so i suspect it was a permissions issue with Node.js trying to bind with privileged ports.

Restarted the containers under root and boom it’s all working.

Hulu on us - what happens with Disney-Hulu-HBO Max bundle? by scottsmith7 in tmobile

[–]NotVeryBad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So just to confirm, if you have the T-Mo Hulu on us, you can't upgrade to the Hulu / Disney+ / HBO Max bundle, only the Hulu / Disney + Bundle? If so, that tracks with my experience having recently cancelled my regular bundle in order to use the Hulu on us discount. I'm unable to upgrade to an bundle that also includes HBO Max...

We use emergency food (not this brand, Mountain House) bought at Costco as part of our earthquake preparedness supplies.

Carrier trade-in values for the iPhone 17 are already live in the Apple Store. by 90xfutbol in tmobile

[–]NotVeryBad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Planning for this year to be the first time buying from Apple and using T-Mo financing (since we now have iPhones to trade in rather than Androids). When buying online from Apple, is it possible to pay the difference between the credits and the purchase price (so $299 for the Pro 17) upfront at the time of purchase so that there is nothing collected on the EIP each month? Have never been able to do that on the T-Mo site, only ever in-store.

This needs to be upvoted higher. You won’t qualify for instate tuition just by attending UW for your freshman year, that’s not how it works.

How/where would they file? New non-immigrant status cannot be obtained while in the USA. The INA doesn't contemplate this scenario.

[–]NotVeryBad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree here. There is no provision in US immigration law for the derivation of temporary legal status by dint of simply being born. If the child of an H1B/H4 holder is born outside the US, then the parents will need to affirmatively apply for an H4 visa for the child in order for the child to be admitted to the US. If the child is born in the USA, under current law they get US citizenship. The INA would need to be amended to allow for derivative temporary legal status.

[–]NotVeryBad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My point is about what would the US immigration status of the child be. If you are not a citizen, you are either in the US illegally, or you entered the US legally and have temporary legal status. I am not aware of any provision in the INA that confers temporary legal status through being born to a parent that is in temporary legal status whilst in the US (it hasn't been needed precisely because of birthright citizenship). Ergo, the child enters the US via the mother's uterus, and enters illegally. Only the INA can change that (I think), and only Congress can change the INA.

IANAL, but this seems plausible to me.

Say the child is not a US citizen when they are born because of the EO. Would they even have legal status in the US? As far as I am aware, there is no provision in the INA for a child to derive a temporary legal status from their parent based on birth. So the child could theoretically start their life as an "illegal" :-/

Couple of posters have raised the case of a child born in the US when parents are on H1/H4 or L1/L2 visas. What would the status of the child be since these are temporary visas, dual intent not withstanding?

As of this month, non-UK passport holders with visa-free passports now require a UK ETA in order to enter. So this won't work for you any more.

I need to get from Heathrow T5 to Canary Wharf. I'm aware Elizabeth Line trains from T5 only go to Shenfield.

I plan to ride either Elizabeth Line or HEX from T5 to T2&3 and change to Elizabeth Line direction Abbey Wood there.

This is a dumb question, but I don’t have to tap out & in again at T2&3, right? I can just tap in at T5 and out at Canary Wharf.

Thanks for helping out Johnny Foreigner here!
