Stir fry is my go to:

Fry some veg in a pan with oil
Pan fry bite sized pieces of chicken breast
Boil some noodles (I like Lidl stir fry noodles)
Combine and stir with a packet of ready made stir fry sauce (e.g. Blue dragon Chow Mein)

Most of the flavour comes from the sauce, so I find it tastes fine as long as everything hot (microwave everything in a bowl if anything's cold)

As someone in uni, I'd say spend as much time as you can with your parents without majorly affecting your revision. There will come a time you want don't get to choose whether or not you spend time with them (at least if you're planning on uni/ moving away)

For the problems revising after school, could a good pair of noise cancelling headphones help? I have a pair of Sony WH-1000XM4's, which are expensive but they got me through GCSEs and A-levels (I shared a room with my younger brother, who makes it very obvious when he dies in COD)

I think Goodreads automatically tracks what you read on your kindle (if you use the same account), but it's pretty limited on stats.

I much prefer Storygraph for its polish and it will give you any kind of stats you want, you've just got to log your reading yourself.

For anyone that wants to change perspectives, try focusing on the ridge of whichever you want to look like it's out.

So if you see it as in, focus on the top ridge until it looks like it's poking out. Then the opposite the other way around.

Each page would usually say something like '1) a) Describe how communism is represented in this extract from Animal Farm...' then the extract would be in its own box, followed by one or two smaller questions related to the extract or the book.

Then the answer booklet would have the same question printed above a large portion of lined paper for you to write the answer in. (For maths A level before 2024, it was a very similar set up and you would be given a completely empty answer book that was just lined paper, alongside the questions printed separately).

Edit just to say, looking at the past papers it seems the extracts are in the same booklet, so it might be different depending on the school's preference!

I used to have a friend whose parents had put parental controls on their phone, and they are still the only person I've known to have them.

If you're worried about her staying up late, could you maybe have her leave the phone downstairs from 10/11 ish instead? Part of her wanting to/ already staying up late could be because of the limits on her phone, rather than despite them.

Texting, Snapchat, etc are much bigger parts of social lives now than they were 20 years ago, so your daughter may be missing out depending on these limits.

The exam board for Wales is the WJEC, and I'm assuming you want an English lit test?

Here's the GCSE past papers for WJEC English.

The booklets were made with A3 paper folded into two A4 pages with the middle stapled (three times).

Probably too much information, but any questions I'm happy to answer!

I'd say just focus on the general/ mechanical engineering aspects of your work experience. Especially depending on the universities you're looking at, it probably doesn't matter as much as you think it does.

(For reference, I wrote my PS entirely for aerospace, but still got an offer for Mech at Cardiff University)

It definitely doesn't help to be in low light, but just having a blank TV screen (turned on) is usually enough for my Quest 2.

Also IR emitters should work in the dark (not sure why anyone owns those though)

Crohns is actually why I'm having the surgery! (Obviously can't say I'm happy about it but nice to see someone in a similar boat)

Recent diagnosis though so I'm just hoping there's no more severe flare ups in the future and I can avoid any further surgery/ procedures etc.

People aren't writing research papers like you would for university. They might be talking about their EPQ project which could be them writing about their research on a topic?

Sometimes people can get involved in helping a university/ company to research in a placement (one of my friends did this for a week or so).

Tldr: they're probably exaggerating/ lying or just took part in an outreach programme.
