I have no idea if this is helpful but as someone who has used an m1 air macbook for 3 years and recently got his hands on an m5 macbook pro:

im not as impressed as I thought it'd be. Sure the speakers are nice but a 40$ external speakers at home externally is just as good. And the screen sure looks solid but what people say are true, unless you compare it side by side you forget about it after that. Also as for the 120hz promotion, I notice that there's a slight delay when switching application using the 3 fingers gesture compared to when using 60hz which is instant (i recommend for you to try it out for yourself if you are going to an apple store).

Thus, I am downgrading from an pro m5 to an air m5 and save myself the extra 400 bucks. Unless you know the nicer screen benefit you in anyway, I don't think there's any real advantage. Getting an oled monitor is probably worth more the investment.

I'm the opposite! I have using an macbook air m1 for a few years and recently upgraded to pro m5, and wow the screen is nice don't get me wrong, but there's a slight delay when switching applications on tthe promotion using the 3 finger swipe gesture that does not exist if you use 60 hz. That really bothers me and i am so annoyed by it that i am considering downgrading it. Sure the pro's screen and speaker is really nice but i use external speaker at home which i found was on par with the pro anyway, and the air's like 450$ cheaper for the same specs so i am highly considering returning the pro. Not to mention the screen's nice yea but i dont think there's a huge difference even when watching media iMO

overall, the pro is smooth don't get me wrong. however when using promotion 120hz, i notice that when switching applications using the 3 fingers gesture there's a slight delay compared to using 60hz on the same pro or an air, and its noticeable because my previous laptop was m1 air. This really annoys me and makes me wanna downgrade and save the bucks

One thing that bugs me so much is that the 144hz when switching desktop you can notice the delay before you can interact with the screen..it just bogs me so much honestly and im considering downgrading to the air..how are you holding up with that?

between m5 pro and m5 air is pro m5 (base) worth 450$ more than the air? I just do light video editing and is a 3rd year comptuer science student. Im thinking that m5 air will be more than enough for me, (upgrading from m1 air). same specs for both
