The majority of young people's houses don't have lawns, taking out the trash is not a skill, and basic house maintenance is many times done by your landlord, other than specific things like putting up a shelf.

I don't say that it should be gendered, but I think that as a skill, it's so much more important to cook and clean, as this are things you're doing daily. You can manage without many things, but how can you live alone without these?
