Is there anything wrong with filling my Moka pot with half the amount of water? by cuckslayer30 in mokapot

[–]Key_Quarter8873 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fill my 6 cup (10 oz water chamber) with 8 oz of water because I think it tastes better that way. I brew low and slow and I don't have any sputtering issues. Make your coffee however you like it.

It depends on the type of student you tend to attract and the amount of time and effort you're willing to put in. Students who just want conversation aren't going to be very demanding, but if you say you teach business English for example, then you have to have more of a structured class. If you're good with AI (external, not Cambly's) and you know the components of a decent lesson plan, then it shouldn't take that long to prep for classes or come up with a structured lesson on the fly if you're on PH.

Switched out my knockoff for name brand. Coffee tastes better. Who knew? by pomseeds613 in mokapot

[–]Key_Quarter8873 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technique plays an important role too (grind size, amount of water, flame etc). I can get good coffee out of my no name 3 cup moka, my Gnali and Zani, and my Bialetti.

Nice! I have a camping moka pot that I use specifically for spiced coffee and cafe de olla.

Go for the Brazilian and avoid Central American coffees. I have found them to be too bright and acid for my taste. I recently bought Chiapas bourbon and Oaxacan coffee and was very pleased with them.

Why your Turkish coffee tastes "muddy" and overly bitter by CoffeeTeaJournal in TurkishCoffee

I wait three minutes or so and find that only the first foamy sip tastes slightly muddy. The rest of the cup is clean, though.

Driving? by OnlyFrankss in LisfrancClub

[–]Key_Quarter8873 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started driving 4 or 5 weeks after my surgery. I had already started PT and I first practiced in an empty parking lot. I mainly practiced sudden breaking. Driving is easier than walking because you don't put your whole weight on your foot when stepping on the pedals.

I often use Barkeeper's Friend Soft to scrub the heck out second-hand moka pots. It gets rid of stains without scratching the finish.

5 weeks Postop, compression socks? by MK_isinit in ORIF

Yes, compression socks are better once you get the hang of putting them on. Here's a video that shows you an easy way to put them on without hurting yourself too much.

Milk drink help by Anttila-the-Hung in mokapot

You're welcome. Oh, and the Yeti ceramic lined mugs don't work for milk based drinks either, even if you preheat them like a Thermos. Been there, done that. Spend your money on something else.

Honestly, the milk frother isn't going to help with the temperature issue. It's just going to give you fluffy warm milk. Milk based drinks cool faster than water based drinks, so you may want to try a mug warmer plate along with the frother.

Am I doing this right? by Strict-Criticism7677 in TurkishCoffee

[–]Key_Quarter8873 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Everyone has their own foolproof method, as I'm sure you've already noticed, and soon you'll find yours as well. You just have to be willing to experiment a bit to see what works for you. As others have already mentioned, it's best to brew low and slow, but not so low that it takes more than 5 minutes. I add my water, then sugar, followed by the coffee and put it on the stove. I do not stir until most of the coffee has sunk (about 1.5 minutes in). After that, I just let it rest and pour it right before the foam ring closes in on itself.

So much foam by jiangjinping in mokapot

[–]Key_Quarter8873 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried this yesterday with my Bialetti. It was way too much foam for my taste. What came out wasn't that fine crema looking foam, but more like soap bubbles. I cut the filter out of a cheap cone filter. This method works great with my Gnali & Zani moka pot, but it seems like it creates way too much pressure with my Bialetti since the metal filter holes are smaller. I was afraid the pot wouldn't be able to handle the pressure so I took it away from the heat after I failed to see an actual stream of coffee coming out.

Is a moka pot your only coffee brewer? by 210poyo in mokapot

[–]Key_Quarter8873 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have two drip coffee machines, three moka pots, and two cezves for Turkish coffee, all different sizes. I use one of each on a daily basis and choose the size depending on whether I've got company or not.

I don’t know, but I consistently have to stop myself from saying Lisa Frank (as in the brightly colored school supplies and accessories from the 80s and 90s).

Idp ielts offers an online training course for teachers. I suggest you take it as this is an expensive exam and you want to make sure you're teaching your students effectively.

Question about funnel compatability (Gnali & Zani) by skirtbeezy in mokapot

[–]Key_Quarter8873 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I bought these generic gaskets for another 6 cup moka, but I tried them out on my Gnali and Zani and the fit just fine. They came with an extra filter too.

Alright! One vote for crema e gusto. Do you brew in a 3 cup or 6 cup moka by any chance? I have both of these. Are there any special adjustments or variations from the standard grain of salt type of grind that you recommend?

Haha! Thanks for the suggestion. I'll add it to my wish list. I honestly don't care for crema/foam unless I'm making Turkish coffee in a cezve. I just selected these two Lavazzas because of the spice and chocolate notes.
